Can you tell me a little about the exercise vids that you use? Do you do them inside? Did you purchase them or are they online for free? I recently lost gym access and am currently trying to find a new form of cardio to do.

Hi Cory! *Thanks!!* ;)

Nice to meet ya!

I LOVE talkin' about Leslie Sansone! heehee

She has a great FB page and here is her official website as well. http://www.walkathome.com/

Above are her most current and my favorites! Most can be found at Super Wal*Mart & Target.. I also use amazon for the best price if I can't find it in stores.

I do them inside and just adore her. She is funny, sweet and such a great coach. She makes it fun. Walking Aerobics is no joke and you get a great work out!

Easy on joints and your body for those like me that have medical issues/old injuries. A lot of her work outs include a combo of cardio + strength training. Walk It Off In 30 (if you choose to use it as a 30 day fitness program), Starts day 1 with Burn 30 (they/I use 2 lb each hand weights) and then next day you do Firm 30 (ST/They/I use dumbbells) Repeat.

Thanks for the info Stacy! I'll have to look into it.

Meant to update last night, but I was just too tired. Got all my steps in yesterday, which was good. I also went horseback riding. I’m really tired and sore from it today. I wound up riding maybe an hour and a half or two hours, which is about twice as long as I usually ride. I showed up and my friend/instructor was like, “Two of the horses have been really bad the last couple days. You get to work on them today.” She wasn’t lying. One of them was ok once we got going, but the other was a pill the whole lesson. At one point she decided to spin around in a few circles really quickly. I came really close to falling off, which is probably why I’m so sore today. Trying to catch yourself gives an adrenalin response and I’ve found that almost falling hurts about as much as actually falling does the next day.

I doubt I’ll get in all my steps today. A combination of rain and stomach issues is making that difficult. Today will make my first full week soda free though, which is a good thing.

Well done on a week without soda Cory! That's really good! Also getting your steps in.:)

Thanks guys! Happy to report I'm still soda free. :D

So, here's how the rest of last week went.

Thursday: I think I got all my steps, but I didn't have my pedometer so I'm guessing.
Friday: was 200 steps shy of 10,000, but I went riding for an hour.
Saturday: only got half my steps, but rode for 2 hours so I figure it evens out.
Sunday: rest day

I'm happy with how last week went. I think I'm going to spend one more week not focusing on food and perhaps pick it up next week. Feeling pretty solid at the moment.

Hey guys. I got sick and then had a brief backslide. I don't know why, but I always backslide some when I come off of being sick. It started with a soda. My friend bought some because he knows I like rum and coke. He doesn't drink it, so he bought it specifically for me and I felt like I needed to drink a bit. It went downhill from there. However, I have been soda free since Monday. Once again, food has been the bigger issue here.

Good news though. I joined a gym. They have a lot of the classes my college does and most of the patrons are younger people. I think it'll be a better fit than the rec center. I'm so excited. Also, I've been thinking of hiring a personal trainer. I can only afford once a week, so I'm not sure how much good it would do, but I'm looking into it.

That's great that you have joined the gym Cory. Peronal training once a week would be really beneficial. I'm glad you're better again, xo Cate

Thanks Butterfly.

Cate, I think I will hire a personal trainer. My brother said the same thing and I really trust his judgment.

Really excited for Monday, guys. That'll be my first fitness class at the new gym. Went riding yesterday, but didn't get to today because a lot of people went to a tournament.

Yay for joining the gym! I'm all for personal trainers and they really don't need to be there all the time. First couple of times to get you settled in perhaps, but then once a month to check on your progress should be enough. Best of luck!

Thanks Butterfly.

Congrats on joining a gym. They tend to be fairly cheap and are only a nagging expense if you're paying for it and not going (I advise against that).

As far as the personal trainer goes, there's not much else for me to say: I did it two to three times a week (half hour sessions) for a year and lost 120 pounds. Did it for another year (mostly, a little bit not when my trainer left town) and lost 65 more pounds. Stopped doing the personal training and, despite now being at a relatively healthy weight under 200 pounds, still lost 25 to 30 more pounds.

That said it can be expensive. We're all different people and there are different trainers and my ability to stick to my calories had as much if not more to do with it than the exercise. What worked for me might not have worked for anyone else on the face of the planet for all I know. I may just have gotten lucky (which is unlike me as I haven't gotten lucky in quite a while).

But it would also be difficult for me to advise against it given my story (especially if you feel you can afford it). I mean this is not infomercial BS: I was ridiculously obese, did the personal training thing for a year and a half, and nowadays have women in bars saying I have a "dancer's build."

*shrug*

So give it a go. Figure out your motivators and use them to push you to keep going. Mine was beautiful women who are ridiculously out of my league. You might want a more psychologically healthy motivator. :)

The gym has been awesome! I went to zumba Monday and Wednesday. It's definitely a much better fit that the local rec center was. Right now I'm thinking I'll go to zumba Monday, Wednesday, and Sunday and then do a yoga class on Thursday. I ride Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. I'm going to attempt to fit one personal training session and one solo lifting day. I hope everyone's Thanksgiving has been good.

I've been horrifically bad with food this week. Eaten out every day. I have at least been going to the gym consistently, but I can't seem to get the food under control.
