Hello everyone! My name is Lisa and I am a 21 year old college student whose lifestyle is finally catching up with her! I am actually just getting over a bad breakup and realized how bad I allowed the other person to let me feel about myself. Everything just spiraled downward and I feared I wouldn't be able to take back control before it was too late. Thankfully, I am finally at the place where I see what a great person I am again and am ready to start treating myself with respect again. I've come to realize that the kind of lifestyle I lead has a lot to do with the level of self-respect that I have for myself. Finally I am getting some sense of that back.

As far as goals...it's not even just the weight. I want to reshape my lifestyle and live more positively! I'd be happy with 30 pounds or so overall but the number is not the most important thing to me. I want to feel good about myself again and FEEL healthy.

Something I want to do is document how I feel on a day-to-day basis so that I can look back over time and see how it (hopefully) improves with my health.

Today: I feel fat, lazy, extremely tired, and unhealthy. I'm not proud of where I am at the moment and just feel generally run-down and unattractive. But I know that I'm on a good track, and I'm getting things figured out. And ultimately, I know the power to change all of this lies within me. I just have to find that strength and pull it out.

Starting tomorrow I am going to document everything that I eat and my weight everyday. I think that I am going to give myself small goals. Since my overall goal is only about 30 pounds, I think giving myself goals like 5 pounds will be really helpful. I don't have a goal date, but I do have a goal of consistency. I have a gym membership that has been sitting on the shelf getting rusty so I'm going to brush that off and get back into it.

Wow, sorry for rambling! I have just reached the point where I am fed up with myself and really determined to make a change once and for all!

Thanks for reading, hope to get to know some of you soon!

Lisa

Hey Lisa
Welcome. Sounds like you've got the start of a good plan. This is definately a good place to get some support and information. I found the stickies in the nutrition section to be really helpful, I still go back and reread them.

See ya round

Hi Lisa :)

Nice to meet you mate. I felt the same, just unhealthy, tired, lazy and gross... but already I'm feeling 100% better than before and it's only been 6 weeks since I started. I wasn't focussing on the numbers initially either, I just wanted to feel 'alive' if you know what I mean!

I think you sound so positive and ready to make changes, and that's awesome! You've got your whole life ahead of you now - best of luck :)

I'll pop in and see how you're going soon,

Jess :seeya:

Wow thanks both of you for such a warm welcome! Jess, I totally know what you mean about just wanting to feel alive again and it's so motivating to hear about your experience. It's almost like I am just so fed up with myself that I cannot let it go on any longer.

I am so excited for my future, finally!

^^ Agree with the two lovely ladies who posted! Welcome to the forum! I'm 21 and in college as well :D Good luck and let us know if you need anything

Ah I am so happy to be here! Thanks for such a great welcome.

So anyways, I got on the scale this morning and I was shocked when it read 144.1! Wow. I do have to take into consideration that the first time that I weighed was at night, and this time was in the morning. In the past I've always weighed in the morning so I am going to stick with mornings from now on. I guess I'm still a bit stumped as to how I can be over 5lbs down from last night. Then again I have been retaining a lot of water the last week (thank you being a woman ugh) and I finally do not feel as bloated so that probably has something to do with it as well.

For now I will just go with it and see if the numbers jump back up throughout the week...but I certainly hope not!

You should always weigh yourself first thing in the morning after you've had a wee! I always weigh more at night because you've eaten/drunk during the day! As long as you're consistent in the time of day you weigh in, you should get accurate results! Congrats :p
