Cord's Quest

And now I am eating a delicious (doubtless fat-laden) chicken pie. So, so delicious.
Nom nom nom.

Edit: also am back to my pre-Thanksgiving weight this morning. Now on to getting below that.

LOL I LOVE THE NOMMING!!!

~ Thanks Again Cord, as always no matter what, you always ROCK!!

I'b sick.

I hab a code.

Yesterday was sneezing and runny nose. Last night was sore throat. Today is major congestion (salutes - Major Congestion!).

My daughter is staying home form school again. She stayed home Monday and Tuesday, and this morning she was really raspy and crying. My wife is also ill.

Aren't we a fun family?

I'm at work, though. Don't like taking sick days unless I really have to. Plus, the company only gives us 10 'casual sick days' a year where we don't have to get a doctor's note to get paid, and I don't like using them if I don't have to. And I won't waste a doctor's time with a simple cold or flu.

That kind of sick is the worst, too. It's not so sick that you can legitimately go to bed and dose yourself up and sleep, but it's just sick enough that you feel miserable and grumpy.

My sympathies, Cord. I hope your family gets better soon!

Good morning, fellow babies!

Although I am still sick, I have some news to report that trumps that.

Today is a day that I have been looking forward to since I started my quest. As it drew near I was obsessively weighing myself daily. And now it has arrived.

249 pounds.

This is the lightest I have ever been in my adult life. I was 250 when I was 18.

(okay, so that may not be literally true - no doubt my weight fluctuated back then, as does everyone's, but I did weight myself once at 18 and get 250 pounds, so that's what I am using as a benchmark)

Now, it is quite possible that this recent loss is mostly from expelling snot, but I'm taking it anyway. How could I not?

I'm staying home from work today. Going to rest some more.
After work yesterday I was so run down I put on my bathrobe and slippers, flopped on the couch and stayed there until I went to bed. Ate chicken soup and ice cream (for my throat, of course - purely medicinal).

  HELL YA!!! CONGRATS ON YOUR LOWEST WEIGHT EVER!!!! That's REASON TO CELEBRATE! Congrats Buddy, you deserve it!!!...I can't wait to see what the end of the YEAR has to hold for you!!! Can you IMAGINE?!?!......all that SUCCESS!!! WOOT WOOT!.

Awww you Shick Lil Bunny!!! :grouphug: Feel better...all of you....cause it keeps going in cylces if not! :)...again...congrats!!! :biggrinjester:

Thank you, ladies!

I have decided, in light of this occasion, to adopt a new avatar. One that looks ahead to what I am working on becoming, instead of back at what I was.

I am going to try to no longer think of myself as a big fat guy. Instead I am a guy who is becoming more and more healthy and fit.

Great Job. That is a really big accomplishment. You should have thought of yourself as the guy becoming healthier all along. I think that positive thinking aids in producing a positive result. So with this new outlook, you might do even better (if that's even possible...lol). I hope you feel better too. Congrats!

Thats so awesome Cord, you have a great attitude. Thanks so much for your seemingly never ending support and kindness in my diary, its so much appreciated. Michelle

WoW!!! Cord, that's truly AMAZING! Well done! And you're already so BUFF looking too!

Hope you feel better soon.

*:blush5: ....what kind of ice cream?....:leaving:

Good morning, fellow babies!

I just got back from a swim class - the head coach of the local swim club and two Olympic-level coaches here to work with the swim club prior to a big meet coming up taught a 90-min Masters/Triathlete class, and I signed up for it in the hopes that they might actually teach me how to swim.

It went great. I got some good tips on improving my freestyle stroke, and I want to swipe some of the training drills they had us do.

Two surprises.
1. It turns out I already know how to swim pretty well, without instruction. The tips I got will improve my form considerably, but apparently I already had a good core. I even did well on the backstroke, which I had never really tried before at all.

2. It turns out that what I thought was my weakest feature (my kicks) are actually my strongest feature. I was told that I had a really strong flutter kick.

Mind you, I can't do a breaststroke kick or dolphin kick at all. The instructors even told me not to bother, and just flutter kick.

I'm totally jazzed from this morning, although also pretty tired.

Peace out, all.

Your swimming sounds Great!!!...I can't wait for my swim season to start soon....I gave it up during the summer because fighting for a lane, is just not my way to go!...Grrrrr....So now that it gets cold....People Don't like to swim...:reddevil:...That's where I come in!! Yeah, it's a good workout, all right. :)

I have the opposite problem with lanes up here. Duuring the summer the gym and pool were relatively empty, as everyone was enjoying outdoor activities. Now that it is colder the gym and pool are always full of people - the cold drives them indoors (at least until it gets really cold and the winter sports get going).

Sounds like the Swimming is turning out well for you.

I'm feeling somwhat better, thanks, hon. My daughter is fine but my wife is still kinda ill. I swam yesterday, as you know, and did weights and cardio today.

Well that is good, I am glad to hear you and your family are healing well. :)
