Cord's Quest

Cord - good to see that you're getting some exercises for that ankle. I know you're disappointed about the climb, but like you said ... not worth risking it, long term.

I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving. I'm just working on making it through Halloween! Target just started carrying chocolate covered candy corn and I think I might have to swear off shopping there until the evil stuff goes away! :)

Hey Cord, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!! It always seems to come up on me super quick!

I'll be having Ostritch for Our Holiday Monday!! :jump:

Hope all is well, as it seems to be. Have a Great Trip too!!

Thanks, ladies!

I am little bummed out about the climb, but I also really don't want to damage myself further before I am properly healed.

RG - Ostritch is really, really good (and expensive!). I haven't eaten any in years. When I lived in Prince George there was a pub that served Ostritch burgers - yum!

For me it is going to be the traditional turkey, with my wife's family. I'll try not to gorge.

Edit: Kara, I don't know what I'm going to do about all the Hallowe'en candy. I think I will buy stuff to give out that I don't like - that should help.

Thanks, Tony. I hadn't been in for about a week, I think. Just not in the mood - was doing other stuff instead like working out on the heavy bag.

As a result I wasn't lifting as much as normal - plus the gym was super crowded, with lots of young athetic guys (hockey players, I think) as well as a few guys from the fire department.
I think I will have to get used to that as the cooler weather drives people indoors. Through the summer I often had the place to myself, and I got used to it.

Just started trying squats again - stopped doing them because of the ankle - and am easing back into them. Will slowly increase the weight.

Cord - I was just reading your post in my journal and I realized something - I've been to your town. :)

About 15 years ago I drove from Seward, AK back home to Texas. I took 3 weeks to drive, going up and visiting Dawson City, YT, and then driving down. I spent the night in your town and then spent 2 days in Kamloops.

Hah. Crazy. Small world, huh?

Hey, I was reading through your dairy and so far, it was interesting to read :)

Sorry about your ankle. I hope it heals fast and get you up asap :)

(This is little off topic but I would like to share my side of that pain too)
Just this summer, I was taking a volleyball class and I was still learning how to play. Everything was great, I was jumping and chasing the ball and 'this guy' jumped up trying to block my spike and he fell, fell under the net, landing his whole body on my ankle. I happened to fell also from his reaction to my ankle, it was sprained. It hurts like a :party:, I had to take some time off to stretch it out but I went back into the game with the injured ankle because of the look of my professor's eye.

I was limping for like 3 weeks after that incident and I still went to volleyball sessions, not my best effort but I tried my best.

It was hell, I couldn't do the cardio sessions I usually do like running or jump roping. It was tough.. I hope your ankle heal fast and you will be up in no time! It was painful - not because of the pain of my ankle but the pain of what I couldn't do because of my ankle. Luckily for me, it healed before my fall semester started and I am up doing my favorite cardios!!

Okay, Peeps, this is the last you will hear from me for a few days.

I'm southbound tomorrow for Thanksgiving. I'll be back and maybe even posting again by Monday.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

There's a Burger Joint here that serves Ostritch, Boar, Cow, Elk, Buffalo, and a couple other Burger's. It's all the same price too. Have yet to go. :( Soon though, passed or past? by it just the other day. :drool5:

Thinking about Pumpkin Pie...but I have a meal plan to follow, and I am pretty sure they will be out of it. It was about 3 weeks ago or so, when I came across the Coop flyer, 3 pies for $9.99.

I'll be having Thanks Giving, with me, myself and I. It's a real big family here, I just talk to all of me's all day long. Me can be such a biatch, but myself doesn't mind, especially when I is really happy!!! :jump:

Okay, very temporarily back.

Gained seven pounds over the weekend. I know I ate poorly, but hoping that it is mostly due to salt, and will go away.

Still, this is going to put me weeks behind.

Won't be back on for a while as I have to fix the computer today.

Cheers, and I hope everyone had a better weekend than I.

Okay, I'm back.

Installed a new heat sink and CPU fan yesterday, so that's all good.

Checked my weight this morning, and was a pound down from yesterday. I suspect I will be doing daily weigh-ins until I lose the Thanksgiving weight.

I had a good time over the weekend. Indulged a lot, yes, but I decided that I wasn't going to worry about it and just enjoyed the time "off". Ate out at restaurants, had the big family dinner, ate desserts, even some pure junk food (which surprised me, I thought I was over that stuff, but apparently not).

Thanksgiving dinner was interesting as it showed me that, despite all the lifestyle change, some ingrained habits are hard to alter.
I had a big plate of food, which these days would be more than enough for me - in fact nowadays I would generally feel ill after that much food. I finished my plate and automatically went and loaded up a second plate and ate that.
Why? Because I always eat that much at the big family dinner. This is the first big family dinner I have been at since my lifestyle change, and I guess I was in automatic eating mode.
Ate two desserts, too.
Needless to say, I felt really ill afterwards.

I tried to stay semi-active while down there. We were down for four days, and for three of them I went for a 45-minute walk up and down the big steep hill that my mother-in-law lives on.
I also went to a gym on one day and did weight training. I didn't write it all down, but it was pretty similar to my usual routine.

Yesterday was a recovery day, I guess. Was still run down from the trip, and I think I may be (or have been) developing a cold or flu, because I felt awful yesterday, didn't get any exercise at all, fell asleep on the couch, and ate some bad food.
It was really odd - I guess all the salt, sugar, fat and starch of the last few days had an effect on me, because I went and bought a small bag of clodhoppers and a bag of party mix - this is something I have not done since I started my quest. I ate most of the clodhoppers and half of the party mix (so let's say about 50g of each) before throwing them in the trash.

This morning I felt pretty good, so after dropping my daughter of at school I hit the pool for a 1000m swim. I haven't been swimming in a couple weeks and it showed. I was slow and feeble. It took me 45 minutes to do my set, 5 minutes longer than normal. I did feel virtuous for having done it, though.

Got home from the pool to find out I have to go in for the midnight shift tonight and tomorrow night - short notice shift changes.

Tomorrow morning I also have another physio appointment for my ankle.

Well, that's my recap. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hello Cord good to see your safe and sound back home.

Is Williams lake, near to Burns Lake? IDK, I am just curious, not that I know too much of Burns Lake.

I am catching something too, me thinks.

Good to hear you had a nice family gathering, does your family ever play board games at all together at those gatherings? Mine used to, we'd play pictionary, always a hoot!

Hopefully those 7 lbs are just water weight. :) Get a good flow of water in ya's. Seems to always help move things along. ;)

WoW that is really good time for not having been swimming for a couple of weeks, only 5 mins difference. Good on ya! I am sure it will take no time for you to get back at your previous time(s).

Laterz

No, Williams Lake is nowhere near Burns Lake. It is about 6 hours drive north of Vancouver, and about 3 hours northwest of Kamloops.

And yeah, I have a cold now. Drinking tea to stay awake all night, and popping ibuprofen and decongestants.

Trying to get my eating back in order - it is going slowly. I find it hard to eat well when I am sick. I go for comfort foods instead.

I finish work in 45 minutes, and then have physio 3 hours later. Yuck.
