Contemplating cutting and competing

Say THAT three times fast!

So I've been doing a hardcore bulking routine for the past 6 weeks. My original plan was to do a cycle of 2 months bulking and then 2 month cutting. However, now that I am nearing my scheduled cutting cycle I am wondering if a 2 month cut is necessary for me. I have definitely put on some fat in the past 2 months. My abs don't show all that well anymore and none of my pants fit me comfortably anymore. On the other hand, I have been making great gains in terms of muscle mass and strength, and I feel like I am still pretty small in comparison to other people at the gym. I'm not sure I want to stop putting on muscle, and if I am going to cut I don't know that a full 2 months is necessary.

Right now I am doing 0 cardio. Besides the fact that I have been trying to gain as much muscle as possible, my schedule of going to the gym 8 times a week and being a full time college student makes it pretty much impossible to squeeze in cardio as well. My plan was to cut down my daily caloric intake from about 4000 calories a day to 3000 calories a day, do less weight training, and do cardio 3-4 times a week. You can see my pics in my photo forum, my height is 5'10'' and my current weight is about 176 lbs. Actually, besides taking what you can see in my pics into account you have to take into account what you can't see. Oddly enough I store the bulk of my fat in the rear quarters =P It's clearly a genetic thing as I can tell by looking at the men in my family. So if I look cut, keep in mind I'm flexing and I'm a fatass =P I need to decide if I want to do a cutting cycle, and if so, how long.

Secondly, I might as well ask... do I look like I might have a chance at competing some day. I realize I'm not ready right now, and I wouldn't expect to be after training for less than a year. Considering the awful genetics that I've inherited though, I feel I'm making rapid progress. Compared to how I looked just a few years back most people I knew then wouldn't recognize me. I was a skinny kid. Competitions though of course are not based on personal progress but on comparison with other people. So I am wondering if I should even consider competing eventually. In whatever local amateur circuit there is in New York. I am becomingly increasingly vain on a daily basis and I think it would be fun to stand on a stage and flex, lol.
 
Uhh how do you weight train 8 times a week?
 
I wouldn't think that 6 weeks is nearly enough time for a bulk phase. I'd be looking more at 6 months and if you were in good cardio shape before bulking it wasn't wise to completely abandon it...
 
if you wanna compete you better start cutting asap. but if you really wanna get bigger, keep going with the bulking. btw, share ur 8 times a week routine plz :)
 
Current routine:
Mon- Abs,Calves/Legs
Tues- Chest,Biceps
Wed- Abs,Calves
Thurs- Legs
Fri- Abs,Calves/Tricep,Back
Sat- Rest
Sun- Shoulders,Forearms

Switching over to:
Mon- Chest,Biceps
Tues- Abs,Calves
Wed- Tricep,Back/Shoulders,Forearms
Thurs- Abs,Calves/Legs
Fri- Chest,Biceps
Sat- Rest
Sun- Abs,Calves

With the following exercises for the diff muscle groups:

Chest,Biceps - Flat bench press, Incline bench press, flat db press, incline db press, db flyes, lat pulldowns, preacher dumbell curls

Abs/Calves - Standing calf raise, seated calf raise, reverse calf raise, hanging leg raise, crunch machine, back extension machine, decline crunches, cable kneeling crunches

Tricep/Back - Pullups, dips, close grip bench press, tricep press, skullcrusher, cable pushdown, lat pulldowns, bent-over barbell rows, seated cable rows, bent-over db rows

Shoulder/Forearms - Military press, arnold press, db shrugs, smith-press shrugs, db seated rear lateral raise, lateral db raise, front db raise, reverse curls, behind-the-back barbell wrist curls, reverse db wrist curls, db wrist curls

Legs - Squats, deadlifts, leg press machine, hip adduction machine, hip abduction machine, leg extension, leg curls
 
if I am not mistaken you should be doing some kind of cardio though. I think it's about total fitness, not partial, Ive seen people give it there all in the weight room but not be able to jog around the block. I think that is pathetic, plus I bet your abs will show better.
