Constant urge to flex & stretch

I haven't been working out for a month now. Lately I always have or feel the urge to flex and stretch my leg muscles - especially at night when I am trying to sleep. Can this be associated with me not working out anymore or is this an entire different problem?

thank you Incessantmace. I'll give that a shot. Hopefully I'll soon be able to sleep peacefully at night.

I have the same problem with my back. Almost a dozen times a day I have the urge to stretch my back, crack my back, etc to loosen it up. No idea how to fix this. I do back stretches, and it temporarily loosens up my back, but not for long.

Any advice, as to what the solution for a stiff back could be? Sorry for hijacking your thread.

So do a lot of guys who lift heavy weights. I see them doing it all the time. They say it relieves pressure or tension in the spine. They even do it on my high-backed dining room chairs.

I used to do it all the time, too. I don't do it as much, but my upper back tends to feel "tight" sometimes, so I like to bend over, hang on to the kitchen counter and stretch it out until I hear those beautiful cracking sounds. Ahhhh ... relief :)

Initially I thought it had to do with posture, but you look like you have really good posture in your flexing pose.

Sorry I can't help you with that.

Thank you again for the advice. I just did some of those leg stretching exercies and I feel slightly better. I'll see how I feel in two weeks.

It might be a behavioral pattern is what I'm thinking rather than an actual biological problem. You might just be going through a "thing" where you have to flex and stretch.

You sure your chest isnt too strong proportionally to your back? Are the shoulders brought foward a little/alot when you stand up relaxed? If you have a godly strong chest and neglected the back maybe that would be the cause...

I think this is the most likely case. When ever I stand up straight, chest comes out, my back feels tight and I need to crack it.

You people need foam rollers.
