Confused on diet.

I have never really done a planned diet before. I don't really know how to get started. Kind of hard to explain my situation. On Tuesdays/Thursdays I go to Sparq training (for speed, agility, acceleration, etc) and on other days I'm either lifting weights or resting. I weight ~160 pounds, and my height is between 5'9 and 5'10, and my Body Fat Percentage is 19.7%. I want to be able to burn FAT but keep my weight of 160 pounds. I wan't to keep my weight of 160 for Football Season. I have 2 monthes before the season starts. My family just started buying "healthy" food (fruits, tuna, chicken,) instead of (soda, fries, chips).

What type of diet would you suggest I go on. If its a calorie type of diet how should I set it up?
 
Nevermind I think I know what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna lower my daily calorie intake by 250 calories. The other 250 calories will be burned from exercise. That will enable me to burn 500 calories a day (or a pound of fat a week). Cutting is more of a priority because I have 19% body fat and in sparq training, I want to impress my coaches with a better 40 yard time.
