Confessions of a Junk Food Addict

Hello everyone out there!

As I'm writing this, I'm having a staring contest with a pack of "Buncha Crunch". I will not eat it! WILL NOT! Maybe one. NO! *throws it to the other side of the room* This has been my problem for the last four years. Since I moved over here for college, I have become addicted to junk food. My vice is faceless- I love it all. I live until my next bite of chocolate, can't get enough Mickey D's. And that, is why I have gained fifty pounds in the last four years.

I'm 22, and I'm going to be graduating in a few months (hopefully! Diplomas are fickle things) with a degree in engineering. Engineering was TERRIBLE, a consistent pain in my ever-expanding hiney. I got so overwhelmed by the work that I eventually had a bit of a...ehm...how do you say....freakout. LOL. At this point, everything went downhill, food was my friend. It kept me safe during those long, lonely date-less nights. I used hamburgers and fries as medication for my anxiety.

There are so many things I want to do. I want to go to parties and not have guys only hit on my friends. I want to fit back into those cute little dresses I used to wear. I'd like to start next year feeling better. I want to start running (dude, all your runners out there, I don't know how you do it....2 minutes on the treadmill at 5.0 and I'm ready to pass out.).

So my goals are the following

(1) To lose 60 pounds

(2) To fit into a size 6 jeans

(3) To run a half marathon my next summer.
:boxing: :boxing: :boxing:

Here we go!

*glares at Buncha Crunch*

Hi Carrie,

Welcome to the forum. College is soo stressful not just academically. Although, engineering alone can be quite stressful my father spent a lot of my time in high school trying to convince me to be an engineering major. College is espcially socially stressful. Its a time when we're going through so many changes: our first true taste of freedom, meeting people from all over, the social scene, classes, friendships among many other things. Good luck on your journey and if you need any support be sure to pm me.

Hi Carrie, welcome to wlf, boy am I gonna love reading your diary. First of all, huge congrats on getting through engineering. My friend's husband just about went koo-koo also, I remember in his last year, he said students were dropping off like flies and cracking under the workload. So you deserve all the recognition in the world for getting through!

Second, any person that has a goal of jogging/running, marathons, having men hit on her, and wearing cute dresses, is a girl after my own heart. LOL Here's a little encouragement your way...if you had the kahonies to stick through engineering, you will definitely have the balls to stay the course on weight loss, healthing eating, running. I'm excited for you!

Welcome and have fun :) I know you will form friendships on here in no time flat!

Oh! And just one more thing...I can totally relate to eating junk food through a degree or any kind of stress for that matter. As can many of us around these here parts. yuk yuk So in other words, you've come home my friend, and you will be able to kick this habit and form good ones here with loads of support.
