What is cleansing

anyone knows what cleansing is? i thing it is related to fasting but i'm not sure. thanks for your input

I believe that cleansing is like fasting. Too me I think that this is not the proper way to lose weight. I truly believe that the proper way to lose weight is to eat right and exercise regularly. Even if you don't want to join a gym your everyday house cleaning is very helpful in lossing weight, and remember to always drink your water.

HI there,

not quite sure, but I think it's the part before you start fasting. You have to empty your system, because if you don't - first of all you get hungry (don't ask me why, but I heard it from several people) and secondly the stuff left in there can get toxic which then would be worse for your health than the benefits of fasting.

I'd have to agree with Lisa. I also think its to empty your system before fasting. That would already scare me and probably keep me from fasting. How is this done anyway? Do you have to eat or drink something that initiates the process or is it even worse...

HI Natalie,

nothing to worry about for that one. There's all sorts of products. Some are gentler on your system than others. You can get pills or powders at the drugstore or pharmacy. You can even go natural and drink sauerkraut juice or eat prunes (don't know if they deliver the result you're looking for in cleansing). I would talk to the pharmacist before deciding on a product.

And, be wary, there are some pretty heavy extremes to these 'clensing' rituals. THe only real clensing rituals that I believe in is to continually drink water so that you are always hydrated and your bodily fluids are as crystal clear as you can make them ... but, that's only my opinion

i am not sure if that would work to actually empty your body in preparation for fasting. Continually drinking water should be part of your daily life.

no, i wasn't trying to imply that. I was only stating that i would never do any cleansing rituals like you guys are talking about ... they are probably very good for you too, just not my cup of tea :)

Internal Cleasing.

To rid toxins and promote energy, to think and feel better, how do we begin? Any comments?

You give your body a fresh start. use of herbs and fiber remove buildups of toxins. the health food stores will help. better digestion is also a benefit.

the thought is good, but i've heard the experience isn't quite the same ... although, i suppose there might be a happy medium ...

I don't believe in fasting, i think starvation harms more than it helps, my idea of cleasning is gradually using herbs and healthy sources of food, fiber and antioxidant foods that promote elimination, i have taken Uva-Ursi for years, that herb regulates water retention, you won;t need prunes either.

b-12 & b-6 also helps the water retention, also gives you energy and reduced food cravings. take in the morning or you will not sleep well after the noon time, if taken, at least thats how it is for me.

Currently I don't do any of those things...so I guess my body has to deal with toxins etc. a different way.

As for the fasting I'd have to say....if I wanted to do it, I would do it supervised in a class or so. An uncle of mine was leading a class like that a few years ago and all the people attending were very pleased with the class and the result. It was not a weight loss programm, just a course for cleaning out your system.

I heard that drinking alot of water helps to clear you out a bit, unfortunatly for me I hate the taste of the tap water here so I have to force myslef to drink it, and we really don't have the money to be buying bottled water....

If you are able to get something like a britta water filter or anything like that it helps with the taste of water. So does keeping it in the fridge. Even just putting a bunch in an empty jug and keeping it cold helps with the taste immensley... plus cold water is better for you since you body has to work to heat it up.

thats the thing our tap water seems to taste even worse when it is chilled, like it is enhancing the discustingness lol

We buy frantelle water from Woolworths; it’s about $5 - $6 for 12 liters. We have the same problem here with our water it tastes like crap.
