Just Some Thoughts....

Hi All,
I havent been posting much but I have certainly followed all the postings in this forum...
As all of you are aware, I am on the interim program due to my sugar level being too high... and it seems like I am very slow in losing my weight... now it have been 6weeks and its only about 7KG... I will continue till my 2nd month and if it really shows that my sugar level is still too high, I would be going on medication to bring it down and hopefully I will be able to go on the actual program soon...
I really like to know if there are anyone with the same problem as me... please give me some ideas what I should be doing.. or anyone who have experienced the same thing as me?? Care to share your experience with me?? I would really like to know how to handle this... hope i am not being too long winded with the same topic again as its really bothering me... I need some support!!

Jewls, Well, think of it this way, it's better 5 kg off, then on! Whatever the loss, there is a loss right? I know it's a little frustrating when so many others are losing so much, but keep your chin up girl, you ARE losing, at whatever rate, that matters most right? And kudos to you for sticking to the diet 100%, its really an acheivement, congrats!

jayce, maybe you could suck on pieces of orange throughout the day? I read somewhere in this forum that if you space out your fruit, you'll feel like hungry and blood sugar is more consistent.

Babyegg, your focus should not be on getting on your actual diet from the interim one. Sorry for being a nag, but your health comes first. I've heard from many people here that by doing Cohen's, their sugar level stabilized. Give it another month or so, and see if it stablizing the natural way. If not, head to your doctor, explain the situation as well as the diet & see what he has to say. It's your health that matters most alright? And liek what i told Jewls, it's better 7 KG off than on! So take heart in that fact, stick to the diet and monitor your health :D (Hope i didn't sound too prissy! ;))

On my side, having the crimson tide again. Feel so damn bloated. Thankfully no weight gain, so lets hope the water retention relents once this time is over. Oh i hate this time of the month!

Thanks!!!

Hey sassysapphire86,
Thanks a lot for that.. I have actually told myself that whether i get on the actual cohen program is not an issue.. but i need to get back my health.. i think I will continue to think this way to motivate myself to get my health back!!! Thanks a lot for that...
I will continue to move towards the goal of getting my health back and than seek help from doctor if my sugar level does not stabilize after 3months...
:)

hmmm.. anione had the same situation as mi b4?, during the blood extraction , simply juz blacked out.. then started having hallucinations :( ... took mi a whole half an hr @ the lab to recover...

8-2-Much: I swear I am not being paid by Cohens! Just look back at my old posts from when I was on the diet, if you don't believe me! I too was sceptical when I started and heard stories of people's amazing success, but I promise, if you are determined, you can do it!

I fell off the wagon once: the day my husband lost his job I drank a few glasses of wine. Other than that, I was very good and stuck to the program 100%. I really believe you need to stick to it. And it was easy because I saw amazing results every week. The first week I lost 5kg!!!!!

Some tips from me:
Drink at least 3 litres of water each and every day
Cut out the crackers (if you can cope without them)
Drink the herbal laxative tea each night
Get Keto-stix to check your ketones and reassure yourself that you are burning fat each day
Do not fall off the wagon as it is very difficult to get back on
Keep a journal of your feelings and reward your successes

If you want any other advice, let me know.

Wondering if Lizzi and Mel or any others from earlier in the year are still posting and still losing?! Maybe they are finished?

Stay strong ladies!

kicking myself

Why is it that we try to sabotage ourselves but get angry at those around us if they're not supportive?
I don't understand how i work? I've only really got 2.5kg to go before i order refeed. Really that should not take me longer than 2 weeks. So i'm starting a count down, i want to make it real.
At the moment i feel like a jail in-mate who reoffends while still in jail so that he doesn't have to go out into the scary world.
I want to be free...............i really do. I want to be able to participate in real life again. After almost NO socialising in the past few months i think i'm scared.

I might be close to having the body i like but do i have the mind to keep it that way.

Can anyone suggest a book? Or any advice about overcoming self sabotage?

Babyegg, no problems dear, its good you realized the fact that it's your health that comes first above all. :)

Jayce, nah, i've never experienced it. Are you taking all your fruits & crackers?

New scales...ticker update

Hi everyone...I brought some new digital scales today - wanted to have some more accurate scales for when I do the refeed and it's not too far away now! :D Anyway, I thought I would update my ticker. I am sooooooooo excited to be past the '10kg to go' mark!

Netski This was a link that my consultant sent me a few months ago. It was about weight loss and the associated mind games. It might help!

jayce I haven't had any trouble with my blood tests, but the 2 times in my life that I have donated blood, I recall becoming really dizzy and hot and feeling like if I tried to get up, I would pass out. It took about 1/2 hour of lying down under a fan to feel normal again. Needless to say, I gave up donating blood. I'm afraid I don't have any advice for you except try to think of something else while they take your blood and don't watch them doing it or look at the sample. Sorry I can't help more...I hope it gets better for you.

Stay strong everyone! You can do this!

Supplements/Fish

Can anyone recommend a good brand of omege 3 supplements??

I just got my blood test result for diabete profile from my doctor.
All is good. Thanks to the medication & of coz the Diet.

But my good cholestrol is on the low side. I need to boost it up..

Any recommandation?? And where i can get it? I seldom eat fish:eek: ...so think i need some supplements.

Notty Notty Reload... sigh...

Hi moneypenny!! Where have you been? I sent you a couple of messages but didn't get a reply.
I'm still here. The ticker tells the tale. Haven't a lot of time tonight, but I am so keen to catch up with you.
Glad things are going so well.

Jayce: It might have been a physical reaction to the test rather then a metabolic ie: low sugars. It wasnt a fasting test?? My 4th wk one wasnt so u shouldnt have been low in sugars unless ur prone to them. Physically, u may have dropped ur blood pressure-BP (were u sitting up) and it got too low and thats why ublacked out. I see (im a nurse) a lot of ppl that do this and if its too low, u can hallucinate and get disorientated until ur body kiks bak to normal. U might have been a lil dehydrated, and if u have internal reaction like a panic type (dont always have 'panic attack' signs) response. Sometimes the needle can cause a 'sympathetic' response where it can hit a nerve in a vessel in ur arm which is incedental in procedure and cant be prevented. This can result in BP drop. Before blood tests and they are not fasting ( i think u can still have water on fasting anyway?? check that) ppl should drink plenty of fluids and have smthing to eat to maintain blood pressure and also sugars if this is a problem. Yes, and if you dont look at the blood test can help to limit ur response also. My BP drops in these and get 'heady' so i lie down during this and stay lying for 5mins and then sit up for a min and then get up- this helps emmensly. Mention it to ur clinic or whoever u see and next time see at blood test, get hydrated, nutients taken if not fasting, and lye down- this should be enuf to help u prevent another episode. I hope this helped- i no its intense but u wanted sm1 to help ya!!

Today was a unfort set up- out doing things and out longer then normal and got lunch at 5pm!!! No water and just sort of all over the place. No deviations just a running around fest with lack of organisation. I didn however organise a 'puretap' system to be installed. Water is fully filtered and tastes like.....nuthing. Its wicked. Its $235 but its soooo cheap in comparisson of boxed water and filters for the jug. Just replace filters $70 every 12mths- its all gd. By the time 12mths is up, u well and truely have made ur moni back and if u move, u can just remove and take with u- they do make a pen thiknes hole in sink next to other taps but u get a silver plug to use if u do leave. Has any1 got one and what do they think??? I now know i will drink more water cos there isnt gunna be that after taste with other water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, i am gunna take it easy and not kik myself for not doing the right thing today. Im gunna be kinda not 100% tomorrow night for mates birthday dinner. Will kik myself sunday!! Hehehe. Wld ring restaurant but they only opened today and no contact details yet. Will do best to be close to diet but will look at menu to suss it out. Or chat to chef- mate is best friends with the owner!!! Bonus. Whooo hooo. Well ngith and keep it up!

Moneypenny you are a true inspiration! Thank you for your time and advice. I will take it with me on the journey.
I started today and managed to drink 3lt of water no problem and the meals were fine. It is the portion size that gets me! I got so used to putting the same amount on my plate as my husband's. The habits we get into hey?
I hope you are enjoying your new skinny life! I intend to keep in touch with the forum - it seems that you guys really spurred each other along. Thank you again for responding.

thx all ~~ guess might be due to dehydration i guess... i usually have no probs wif needles.. lol next time i go.. i make sure i drink tons of water :p

Don't fall off the wagon!

A tip to one and all... don't fall off the wagon! It is the most tiring and depressing thing you can do. I started Cohen's in March and got amazing results and then I lost it completely when I moved to Melbourne in May... I haven't been able to even find the wagon to hop back on since - and it is so painful! As far as I see it one deviation or celebration can ruin the whole mindset and lead on a path to months of self-destructive behaviour.

So, now for me this is essentially my re-start. I still have changes going on in my life, but who cares! It's about the changes I want to make to me! Not to mention the clothes I want to fit back into. I guess my posts are going to reflect my journey to find the wagon... maybe I should just get a new wagon? I'd love to hear from anyone who also lost their bundle in a BIG way and had the motivation to start again. Or anyone who is in the same position and wants a "re-start buddy"!

I'll help you!

ByeBye Blubber
Hey Sweetie, I'm right there by your side. After coming back from Melbourne I've really gone down wards. Today is my restart day too. I'm sick of the guilt and the mind games.
THe truth is we all deserve to have the body and mind WE WANT. And in all honesty anyone who doesn't understand can just p*&s off! Including that horrible devil which sits on our shoulder every moment of every day

Shoulder devil if you are listening- F*#k OFF!!!! You hear me!!!! GO away!!!

Sorry:p

Ok now that i have that out of my system. Much to my husbands dismay i have officially banded ALL "non Cohens" food. If he wants to know what REAL support is he can walk in my shoes for just 2 more weeks!

I'm off to do some shopping with my mum. I'll be around later to check on all of you.

I'm on FIRE, WE WILL DO THIS

TOGETHER

Goodmorning everyone,

I find the weekends so hard.. all week im really good then come the weekends i dont have all of my water because im scared of having to go to the loo everywhere i go.. But i should be ok, im still eating correctly and the weight is coming off so thats a start.. ive still got a LONG way to go..

I have to keep telling myself this is my 13th day.. i still have months to go. Im starting to get really sick of the food, but each day i just eat what i have to eat becasue i dont get anything else to eat..I think im doing ok, i dont know if i should be losing more weight then i am??

Did anyone think that they arent losing enough weight then they were in the first 2 weeks?.. maybe im just being silly but i think that more weight should be coming off me??

Keep up the great work everyone, and hang in there :)

P.S- Netski- How long have you been on the program for? Your Start weight and goal weight are amost exactly the same as mine.. what size are you at the moment???.. Are you happy?? You have done so well sweetheart!!!

Bam

Hey Keep the water up, not only will it help you loose weight FASTER but also all that squtting over public toilets when you're out is an AWSOME leg work out particularly if you pee like i do , it takes ages to get it all out;)

I started Cohens on the 24th April one day before my birthday, i'm in thw slow loser category because i have PCOS. Previous to cohens i did weight watchers and lost 10kg. I'm 17days away from refeed and i'm in mostly a size 10 however a few 8's are in my wardrobe. I don't recognise myself in Photos it is very surreal.

Bam i will write more later i gotta run and catch a bus but i am thinking of you today, if i could relay just how great it felt to buy that size 8 to you i'm sure you'd have no probs with motivation, its breathtakingly awsome:D

Be Good stick to it, i'll chat more with you tonight.

Happy eating- i'll share some awsome reipies too!

Netski- Thanks so much for that darlin, you are truely an inspiration :)

I look forward to hearing those recipe's and more information on how your transformation to a SIZE 10-8 happened.. im godsmacked.. I cant for the life of me picture myself at that size.. At the moment im a 16.. and feel huge.. its a mind game but im doing well so far :)

Take care, and hope to hear back more information from you!!

I bought a brand of natural fibre called "benefiber", and I've been really happy with that. I've just taken a small amount in the evenings, and I'm back being very regular. But the best thing about it is that it is non-thickening and grit free, which means when you mix it with water, if you wait a couple of minutes, the water is back to being completely clear and has very little taste of the fibre there. if you drink straight away, its cloudy and does have taste. It is completely natural fibre with no flavourings. I like it much better than any other fibre I've ever tried before.

that sound really great but unfortunately I don't think it is sold in Singapore. I may need to see if there are friends going to australia or something. I don't want to use Senoko tablets as it makes your colon reliance on it after long usage (happen to my dad!!). I seriously can't stand Physillium husks! I puke the moment I smell the wheaty smell and taste. I had a nasty experience of food poisioning due to eating some contaminated wheaty/cereally smell/taste food when I was young and since then, I can't eat food that smell or taste the same.

By the way, are pilates and yoga considered intensive exercise? I was trying on some hipster pants lately in the shop (fooling around :p) and was so proud of how slim my legs are but my stomach is horrible!!! It is still flabby and in layers. I thought I can start pilates or something (fren told me it helps to flatten tummy) but I am worried that it might be too intensive and make me hungry.
