Dress sizes

Hello everyone,
Just checking in to see how everyone is. Is it just me or is there lots of new people starting out on Cohen's at the moment? I'm over doing the whole personal messages - there is just too many of you and the number of people is growing daily...Sorry! Hello to all! Congratulations to those of you going strong and getting fantabulous results! And to those of you who have weakened and done the dirty 'd' word, don't dwell. Pick yourself back up, jump back onto the wagon and start enjoying the ride - the destination is a million times better then where you are now!
OK, now I know I said that I wasn't going to do individual messages, but I have one personal message to do - deedee, you asked how many dress sizes I have lost. It really depends what store you shop in...In Target clothes, before Cohen's, I was wearing a size 26 in pants/skirts and I could get way with a size 16 top. Now I am putting pins in size 18 (plus size) skirts (new ones that I haven't worn for long enough yet). My top size hasn't changed, but tops fit much better. No more straining on the arms and across the chest. I also fit back into my favorite old pants from Rockmans that I had packed away in the hope that I would be able to fit into them again one day. They are from the BeMe range and are size 16. I also fit into heaps of other clothes that I had 'grown' out of, but just couldn't bear to part with :D.
Lets just say safety pins are my new best friend...I really need to get out my sewing machine...

Hi BeeBee

Can you have oats or museli on refeed. If you have had them has the reaction been the same as bread? There's no mention of museli/oats on my refeed - I s'pose they are "after" foods..
Other than bread (from day 2) the other "carbs"are introduced on my plan from day 10 and include barley, beans, corn, peas, pasta, rice, potato , microwave made popcorn, pumpkin. :p
Will have to see if these things make me hungry a few hours later or not. I liked oats /porrige for breakfast too but I don't fancy them for lunch or dinner!!!

Happy Monday

Hello to you all, I hope you had a wonderfull weekend.

I had a very liberating experience this weekend, I got out all of the clothes that are too big and donated them to the op shop... clothes that are comfortable but just getting too baggy! Oh what a feeling!!!

I have to admit to going through an onion phase right now ... how many ways can you cook an onion? Well I am working on that one. I made myself a variation of a spanish omelet yesterday (I guess you could say that poor old Ralphie Nadal became a spanish omelet at Wimbledon too eh?) ... anyway, I made my entire vegie allowance for breaky which is 65g thinkly sliced onion. I fried it in a pan with a molecule of spray oil until it was all crispy and gorgeous then I cracked an egg into it and mixed it around til it was a nice rectangle shape and cooked it some more.... YUM!!! I am drooling just thinking about it. I then sliced it in half and put each half onto a wholemeal Paradise Lite bickie.... that combined with my coffee and newspaper had me feeling like a right yuppie! It was delicious!!! Yum yum YUM!

So, I pose a question -
what is your all time favourite Cohen's meal?
I would love to hear your recipes and get some more inspiration.

I have really settled down into my Cohens life now - for a while there isn the first couple of weeks I was giving myself choices about my food, will I cheat, won't I cheat?? It was hard. But then I woke up to myself and thought, well I am paying a heap of money to do this diet so why the hell would I want to jeopardise my chances? I was so worried about having my blood tests give me away and getting a 'sorry but we cant help you anymore' letter from Cohens that I guess it snapped me out of it... mind you, I haven't cheated in a big way, just fell off the wagon for one weekend a while back but now when I go shopping I get what I need and don't hesitate over food I can't have - I tell myself, its just the way it is. If I wasn't paying for this then I could handle the slip up but this summer I am going swimming with my children in a pair of bathers I buy off the rack. I am going to show off my legs and my butt and not think that every single person on that beach is laughing at me... that is worth more than any deviation to me. :) I would be interested to hear what everyone else's goals are, not so much the kilo goal but what are you really looking forward to doing once you hit your goal weight? (Other than go everywhere naked to show off your gorgeous new bod).

Maybe when I get a bit smaller I will have the courage to re-enter the dating world again.... yikes!!!

Anyway, you are all wonderful and are to be admired for what you are doing. No-one said every step has to be a leap... little steps are great too.

Monday - itis

Hi Everyone...

Its truely amazing how many people are joining. Its fantastic!

That sounds like a real nice breaky....*drool*

For me I have to say its Tuna Patties with herbs, chilli and the minute mayo on the side...Its easy, smells great and healthy because its grilled.

Yum!!

Dilfizzle I love tuna patties but haven't yet made them on this program. Do you crush your crispbreads into them? I might give them a go... what herbs do you use?

Thankyou for your response :)

I hope you find it helpful.

This is really helpful! You know I just found out something. Sometimes I forget to take my multi-vit and multi-mineral and I will found myself having food craving on that day! It must be due to my deficiency of these vit and minerals that give me craving!

Hi all,

Been so happy to read the many interesting recipes posted. I am getting to the point where planning a meal is so difficult (and it's only been 3 weeks) cuz all i eat now is chicken and tofu. I live with a Hindu family so eating beef is a no-no there and can't stand fish after i ate all the tune straight out of the can. dilfizzle, would appreaciate your tuna recipe so that I can eat something different again.

anyway, am looking forward to my next weigh-in on Fri. Going for 4th week blood test on Sat morning

take care all

Too be honest...I wish my Tuna Recipie was a lot more exciting, but it isn't.

Naturally I use plain old Tuna

With it I include my:
- onion (finely chopped since I don't eat onions I can see,
- cut up some corriander (real fine)
- zucchini
- tomato

I like my Chilli, so I place chilli flakes, precious ginger and garlic powder, salt and pepper. However, the corriander gives it a nice flavour and smell.

Make sure you weigh all these vegies. I don't use all the zucchini, so I can cut up thin slices and places on top of the pattie to grill, once both sides are nice and brown.

I have done the crispbread thing on top, but with me I have a major hand to mouth disease...I have to actually EAT something...Especially my precious crispbreads :)

If anyone has anything nice toeat,do share.

I also do the Beef Stir fry in the recipie book, but I use mushrooms and zucchini and corriander...I add a little sprite to create a sauce and eat with my 1 or 2 cripsbread that I have left to eat...

Favorite Food atm

Magiclea in response to your request of What our fav reciepe is... mine at the moment is called "Slops" really nice with a piece of steak...

Zuccini (Grated) Allowance
Onion (diced or sliced in half) Allowance
Garlic (Salt or fresh diced finely) Allowance for fresh
Capsicum (Diced) Allowance
Mushroom (Diced finely) Allowance

Salt and Pepper to taste

2 White or Wholemeal paradise lite biscuts Crushed in mota and pestle.

Steak Allowance

Mix all vege's together and pour cracker crumbs over them. Add enough water in your bowl to combine mix. When steak is half cooked in a saucepan add your vege mix. Add more water as desired and stir continuosly. All veges will cook quickly as chpped and diced finely once done this shoudld be semi thick... plate up with your steak and serve piping hot.

Enjoy...

Hubby calls this one slop steak. It might not look entirely appetising but believe me it is delish.

You could also add chilli flakes ...

Hubby also suggested the vege slop, with a egg beated and cooked to a thin pancake consistancy, put vege slop in middle and roll up with you egg... Sounds great will have to try that one out.....

What's going on???

My weight loss is going really ssslllloooowww!
Usually I lose 300g to 600g a day, All weekend I only lost 100g. I haven't eaten anything "bad" yet. The start of last week was like this but I still lost 2.9kg for the week. I guess I'm annoyed coz its my birthday next week and I wanted to be closer to my next goal.
My friends only have kilos to go to their refeed. They are guys - we all weighed around the same but being a female my goal weight is 20kg under their's. I know that I can do it - just voicing to the sound board again!

Hey MagicLea your onion breakfast sounded nice but I'm only allowed 2 tsp of onion for the day!

Oh well I shouldn't complain I have lost alot and like MagicLea are finding my old clothes too baggy and not flattering at all!
Hang in there everyone - There is light at the end of the tunnel, and it looks great in a swimsuit!

Can't wait for my 'ticker' numbers to be greater on the right side of the scale!

Thank GAWD you mentioned that ... *laughing uproariously* What a dill I am.... hehehe

Note to everyone - ignore my spanish omelet recipe hehehe

Better read the book again me thinks.... *blush*

I can't believe how many posts there are. I only checked in this morning and there is over a page since then!!
the old me, you don't have to have the bread, you can replace it with 3 crackers per slice of bread (at the moment I'm on 3 slices of bread a day). I usually have 2 crackers for breakfast and one for a snack, and then a sandwich for lunch, and as the quantities are getting so big, I also have a side salad. If you gain more than 1kg you have to go back 2 days in the refeed and if you have to do this more than twice (for the same 2 days), then this is as much food as your body can handle and you have completed the refeed at that point. My consultant said that she had never heard of anyone who had to go back 2 days even once, so don't worry about it too much. The food quantities are increased very gradually, by about 40g per day and then you stay on this quantity for a couple of days before it increases any more. It works really well and by the time you finish, your body is again able to handle a normal amount of food. Some days it seems like an awful lot of food, but I know that I will want to eat "normally" again, so I make myself eat all the increased amounts.
I really hope the fenugreek tea works for you, let me know how it goes.
Also, very exciting to be nearly over refeed again. Today I even got a milk arrowroot biscuit YUM. It is amazing what a treat that seems like now!
Sorry I'm a bit of a blabber mouth today.
Have a great night

I just found a good website which explains a lot about sugar and carb cravings. I have included the link for it here.

I hope you find it helpful.

Thank you the old me. I had the most awful weekend. On both Friday night and Saturday night, after eating my Cohen's food, I went to enormous effort to get off my butt, get in the car and go to the local 7/11 because I was driven insane with chocolate cravings. It was the first weekend I have spent at home in nearly 4 months!! Another insatiable craving is licorice which I also ate in addition to the chocolate. I just eat it until I feel sick and then some!! I don't know what this addiction is caused by but it is more sometimes more prevalent than the chocolate - if anybody has any knowledge on why licorice specific addiction, that would be very helpful too.

But back to the weekend, on each night I had a 150g block of Dairy Milk chocolate and licorice straps - I doubt they even touched the sides of my throat. I almost sucked them in - but the chocolate and licorice were gone within 5 minutes each time!!! I did feel sick at the end and there was no satisfaction, just an insatiable desire to eat chocolate and licorice (not together as in bullets - but separately). I was so angry with myself but also realised that something was up for me to behave in such an irrational way after not doing it for nearly 4 weeks.

After looking at the chart on the website posted by THE OLD ME, I realised that my Magnesium tablets have been sitting in the cupboard for the last week!! I had put them away when I was spring cleaning (yes, in Winter but only to keep myself busy so I don't eat) and they got caught up with other stuff and I just plain forgot!! Pre Cohens, I would eat around 2 chocolate blocks a day or up to 4 chocolate bars a day - plus eat my normal food!!

Gee..... I wonder why I started Cohen's with 38 kgs to lose???? :(

Since I started Cohen's 4 weeks ago and have been on 500mg of Magnesium a day, I have stopped the Chocolate addiction but for about 4 separate chocolate events during this time including this past weekend.

On the first chocolate event it was the week I started Cohen's where I got my period day one on Cohen's, and then again over the weekend and my period starts this week!! Coincidence? Maybe not. What annoys me now is that I have to wait another month to see if the Magnesium I am taking hinders the Chocolate addiction on my next period. But in the meantime at least I am now aware of what happened and have stopped getting down on myself.

Tomorrow is the end of my 4th week on Cohen's so it is weigh day however I am not confident that anything will shift given my little indiscretion on Friday and Saturday nights.

Once again thank you The Old Me for your post. It really helped me!!

Bye for now.

Well I have just finished day 6 on the cohens diet and the scales tell me I have lost just over 4kg. I hope thats not going to stop at that for the week!!I am just worried that I will get all excited and not loose anymore. Also I realised a big mistake yesterday and I think I will have to ring and find out what to do as I gave my height at the start of the 10cm too much, which means I have even more to loose than first thought(I started at 100.06kg and they said I need to be 55-57kg) I cried yesterday just thinking about it.I know you are probably thinking how did I get that wrong but my friends and were measuring each others height on the wall and somehow I have got the wrong one when looking at it. What so you guys think? do you think I should ring and tell them.I am worried if I start the refeed on the wrong weight I will have problems . (mind you I would be happy staying at the 55- 57kg anyway but I know it doesnt work like that. )

You are all such a wonderful inspiration to me, Its great that so many people are having these wonderful results.Keep up the good work.
cheers for now

Cravings help

Jasmine, as you would have gathered I really suffer from cravings too, mostly for lollies and occassionally chips and that kind of salty, crunchy, spicey stuff. The sugar cravings usually takes the form of lollies, the sort which are super chewy and sugary like hard jubes or party mixes. Don't get me wrong I am normal and like chocolate too but rarely have a full on craving for it, just eat it anyway!!!

In my previous life, I would binge on a large family sized packet of lollies in a few minutes and if there were 2 packets I 'd eat them and if there were three packets I'd probably eat them too etc etc . It was my only true binge eating but it used to hit me with a vengance , enough that I would go out to buy them at night, just like you. Sometimes I'd even eat lollies as soon as I woke in the morning and the craving seemed to be something I couldn't withstand.

I also had a patch where all I wanted was licorice bullets, I had never particularly loved them and all of a sudden, 2 and three packets a day at times!!!!! I then started drinking licorice tea and its yummy, can't say for sure the cravings went because of that because its a desire I have still had slightly ( But not as strong as other lollies) but I don't want them all the time and they have been resistable so far. I have no idea if the tea had anything to do with that or not.

I am determined to do something about my cravings so I went to a naturopath at a shop today and she has given me a yukky tasting liquid to try and its supposed to help with cravings. Its gymena and peach flowered tea tree essence. The gymena is good for people with diabetes and sugar cravings and works both as a longer term balancer but also has an immediate effect where if you have some, any sugar you start to eat loses all its taste and hopefully its appeal! Peach flowered tea tree is an Australian Bush Flower Remedy and I often use them, its supposed to help with the pancreas and therefore sugar cravings. I'll let you know if it helps. I am also going to my homeopath later in the week to ask about the same thing. She is usually very good and I am hoping she can just identify the remedy I need to stick to this. I guess if I suddenly stop these cravings and can stick to the program easily and without cheating , it will be a sign that the remedies or one of the remedies has worked. I am always like this, I hit it with everything and then if something works I don't know what!!! LOL But hey... who cares? If I get results, that's what I was after anyway.

Hi all.

Had my second weigh in today, 9 days down, and 6.3kg lost.

I'm happy.

Just thought I'd quicky check in, have started knitting again to keep my hands busy so I don't EAT while I watch telly. This also means I'm not on the net all night.

By the way, what is it with people's Signatures? So many people seem to have HUGE spaces before and/or after their tickers. Could you pleeeeease (pretty please) check your sig, and if it's you, could you make sure there aren't heaps of empty lines in your sig? It makes it HELL to read, coz ya gotta scroll heaps and it pushes stuff over so many more pages. Sorry to be a bore. But also, people on dialup must hate loading pages just to find half of them blank.

Hey everyone.

I'm really battling with the water.
Yesterday I started drinking really late, so by 6:30pm I had only had 1.5 ltrs, so I filled a 1.5ltr bottle and sat down and drank it in the space of 10 minutes - BIG mistake - do not attempt this!!!!!! I felt so nauseous afterwards, I didnt know what to do with myself.

This evening (with 1.5ltrs already done over the day), I filled my normal 500ml bottle, and added some diet solo to it, I thought maybe that would help. It did - for the first few sips. But after the rest was gone, the nausea was back!

I dont know what to do. I've only had 2lts in total today, but I know the extra ltr really makes a difference, but I just cant stand this feeling.

I also thought maybe I could drink my water as tea...I think I have bought every kind of tea possible (that we're allowed) but cant find anything that tastes decent. Still trying to find some Rooibos tea (though I never liked it when I was younger, so I dont know why now should be any different, but I guess its worth the try).

So, does anyone else battle this badly? How do you all get your water down?

Hi to all

4UAll: I thort that Cohens weigh and measure u before u get ur 1st blood test?? I wld ring and at least then, ur mind is at rest. I was measured.

What a day- started off with breakfast and all was going well- i then locked my self out of the house!! I eventually got back in with help of sm kind tradesmen (free of charge!!!!) but since then i have been flat out but managed to keep on track- just had tea and its 10pm! Didnt realise it was so late! Its more then 5hrs so thats ok. I have 2 600ml bottles to drink. I hve been chugging it back today so that is pretty gd for me :) :) . Im going to get it a lil warmer tomorrow- might be easier. Feel pretty wrecked tonight so i will sleep well. Does sleep affect others whole routine?? Any ideas for getting sleep without medication?? SInce we cant have milk, chocolate drinks or the like that wld normally help, its pretty narrow. Im not big fan of teas.

Someone asked what our motivations and goals are excluding goal weight and mine include : bikini :D
gorgeous summer dress :p
get into the dating scene again :)
opposite sex attraction rather being the odd one out ;)
and CLOTHES OFF THE RACK- wld be gr8 :) :D :p

Night and stay on track- the end result is worth short term pain and frustration.

Shebear...

Try this:

Get half a dozen water bottles, around 500ml (mine are 750ml). Just collect them by buying a bottle or two every time you go shopping... (or use sprite bottles).

Then, put them into the fridge and try to drink one between brekkie and morning tea, one between morning tea and lunch, one between lunch and afternoon tea, one between afternoon tea and dinner, and one between dinner and supper, then one between supper and bed.

THAT way, you're having more than 3 lt, and it's easy to keep track of.

asy :D

SheBear: I use a 1.75litre at home and always keep it by my side so that I can take a slip whenever I feel like, think that help coz I will normally drown like 3 bottles if I am home the whole day. In the office, I use a smaller bottle 600ml and do the same. In addition, I had another 300ml bottle in my bag which I carry with me when I go to work so that on the way to work and back, I can take a slip whenever I feel like. Think that work for me coz taking a little slip each time would accumulated to a lot in a day.
