hi

BeeBee: Thanks:) The lady at the gym measured me, it was inside right thigh (quite high), hips, waist, bust (nipple line), arm (right flexed, around biceps) and calf. I just say whole body. I wrote down how much I lost from each measurement and added them together! I see we have about the same to lose!!

Its that time again and I'm grumpy. I think this is the hardest time of the diet. I'd love to just roll up and eat chocolate, but this usually only lasts a day or two.

I had a meeting with cohen's yesterday, it went well. He was saying that I should take a photo of myself every now and then and put it where I can see it, to re-train my brain thats what I look like now! So it won't be a shock when I see myself in a passing mirror. That I get used to the way I am so I won't go back. Also that when I get to a huge goal like 100kg - haven't been that for AAAGGGGEEEESS! I should reward my self. I'm still trying to think of something! Any ideas??

Welcome to all you new cohenette's your found Gold in this forum. Its great to talk to people going through the same things - with understanding! All the best for the weekend!

asyzo - I love the quote at the end, so true!!!

SheBear : Yes we can have coffee black, decaffinated if you have more than three cups a day. Its under section3.7 Drinks of the manual. As for diet coke it appears that has to be caffeine free and max of 1 litre a day.

I think that might be what has me confused...we can have *real* coffee ie caffinated, but only decaf diet coke?

Hey Mitmary!

How's about a nice piece of jewelery :D That's a good reward, and just think all the chocolate money you've saved! :D

I did write about rewards in my blog the other day, it's really hard. We're so ingrained that reward = food...

The HARDEST thing for me is going to be giving up chewing gum. Only 5 pieces a day is gonna nearly kill me. I *may* break and have 6 pieces, but I always chew sugar free, AND I don't drink any sorts of diet soft drink or coffee, but I do love to have a piece of gum atleast after each meal.

I bet 100kg is really exciting. I know I'll be dancing with joy when I get there!

asy :D

Hi everyone,
Wow, just haven't read for 2 days and so many post. Anyway not going to do personalise msg this time. Hee hee. I just realised I make a big mistake last week and ate from the same group of food for like 3 days, no wonder my weight loss is slow. Hopefully now that I realised it, the weight will start coming off at a faster rate.
By the way, for those who are staying in Singapore. My friend found a place which sell the Usana supplements and minerals at a cheaper price than the clinic(just $82) so if you wan, pm me to get the address.
Hope everything is going well with everyone of you.

Full Steam Ahead

Hi guys, gosh twice in one day for me to post must be some sort of record.

the old me You're right, my friends never thought I weighed as much as I did, I guess because I did dress smartly and always take pride in my appearance but underneath I KNEW I was overweight, so from now on it's all systems go. No more thinking "this little bit or nibble won't hurt", let's be honest, It Does. Hubby isn't going to sabotage me any more, in fact he had dinner then got a plate of icecream, which I only keep for my son and granddaughter, it's not one of my weakness's, and before he went to bed had a handful of mixed nuts. You and I both started around the same time and weighed the same so yes I would love to challenge you, maybe that's what I need now. How tall are you and what is your shoe size as that seems to be what Dr Cohen goes by? I am 5' 6" and size 9 1/2 shoe and he reckons I should be between 58 and 63kgs. Seems like a bit of a tall order and I thought I would like to get to 70kgs and then re-assess to see if I should go lower. What do you think?

less of me Thanks for the website tip, I did know that there were recipes there but didn/t think to check out the cheese:eek: how silly of me. The cheesecake sounds delicous, my hubby is really hanging out for desserts, I can leave them alone but would kill for some salami and cheese with bickies.

rjm The spelt bread is available from Woolies and the health bread shops, if you don't have a bread machine maybe ask the person at the shop where they sell all the different flours if she could or maybe knows someone who would make you a loaf every week. No harm in asking I say.:D My friend is going to make me a loaf to see if it is any different but have asked her to wait until I am at goal weight.:) Spelt bread flour comes in either white or wholemeal so that must be okay. Maybe ask your consultant, it is pretty new so maybe they don't know a whole lot about it yet. Worth checking out though.

She Bear The caffeine free goes for both coffee and cola drinks especially if you have more than 3 coffee's per day. Diet Caffiene Pepsi is availabe but only in large bottles and I've only found it at Woolies but I do drink alot of coke which isn't always available in caffeine free.

Keep up the good work everyone and have a great Cohen's weekend.

Cheers :)

quick log in

Hi all!
Just a quick update - no kilos lost this week  Quite a shock, but didnt sleep that well this week (long shifts) and i think i've been slack on the water. However, I did lose a total of 7.2 cm which is the most since week 3, so thats good.

Going away for the weekend with some girlfriends - will be taking food, but think there may be a deviation on Saturday night - I've just got home from work now (3.30am) and have to be up around 8am - not organised at all, so hopefully will get as much food together as i can.

Will let you all know how I go - Sunshine, I'll call you soon, I'm so slack with replying to you!!!!

yay

Finally down another kg. I've been looking back over when I started back on this for real, and it was the 6th of June. So its been a little under 4 weeks, and I want to say thankyou, to all of you for your encouragement, (cant list all of you, dont want to sound like I'm accepting an oscar) I've just been looking over some of the posts from around when I restarted, and everyone is so supportive, I'm getting warm fuzzies. I've lost 10% of my body weight and thats meant to have lots of health benefits too.

Ready To Lose hope you dont have too big a deviation onSaturday night, but have a great time.

momiji hope you notice a difference

asyoz replied to your blog about rewards, love reading it.

mitmary hope you get through those couple of days just fine

mumbine you're doing so well. Good on ya!

Peaches how are you doin?

EVERY ONE Have a great cohenisitic weekend:) :) :)

Good morning everyone!

I was not posting much yesterday 'coz I was so depressed over my mum's condition. I know it was not exactly a big or complicated surgery but I was still very depressed. I tends to think too much and dwell into "what if" situations. I was very quiet in the office but when I reached home, I saw my mum behaving normally (still as cheery), I almost want to slap myself. I will make my mum upset if she knows I am feeling so down because of her. Therefore I decided to pull myself up. She needs my support now.

Now I need to ensure she will be well taken care of before and after the surgery. We need to decide the date of the surgery so we have book an appointment to discuss with the doctor.

Today my ticker moves again and that definitely lift up my spirit!

fornight its really hard not to let feelings show sometimes. Try not to worry. Most of the things we worry about, never happen. Glad you had some good news this morning. You are doing so well. Keep it up:)

That's the spirit!

fornight, it is great to hear that you are able to pull yourself out of a saddened state and start to be positive. Sometimes we dwell so much on the posibilty of bad things happening that we forget to think about the good things that are also possible...Think good thoughts. The power of thought is incredibly powerful. Both you and your Mum are in my thoughts.

less of me after I had my daughter, my post labour weight was around your starting weight. By myself, I managed to get to around 92kg's, and would waver anywhere between that and 110. You will soon be in the 80's. You must be feeling fantastic. Cohens is such a good program. You will be at goal before you know it. Congratulations on such a good loss so far.

Hi everyone,
Fornight, so glad that you have been able to pull yourself together and be positive for your Mum's sake. Well done, and I'm sure everything will go well.
L-jay,great to see that you have had some more movement. You'll be finished in no time at all.
Ready to Lose!, I often find that if you have had a slow week, you still have a really good loss in the cm's.
I've had another .5kg loss, which means that in the first 4 days of re-feed I have so far lost 1kg. This is better than the last time I completed re-feed. I had only lost half a kilo by this stage. Last time I was on re-feed I was really surprised that I lost most of the weight towards the end when I was eating the most food.
Have a great day everyone.
Talk to you all soon.

The refeed challenge

Hi Gayegel, yes lets do the challenge in a friendly and supportive way, not as a competition but just a challenge to both get there in reasonable time. I am 5'5" and wear an 8.5 - 9 shoe depending on brand. My goal was set at 59 - 62, and my old weight watchers goal was 67, so will see as I get closer.I was 63 for quite afew years prior to having my last baby, so it is achievable. At first it all seemed way too low but as I get closer, I still have quite a bit of fat to lose, so 63 or so seems pretty reasonable. Having said that I feel damned good and look pretty good with clothes on right now. Clothes off - I am still very soft and fat with good sized upper and lower tummy rolls still present but .... it will get better. Lets just aim for the 2kg before refeed so we can order it ASAP. Why don't you work out a counter too? I have been fairly generous with my time allowance I might get there faster but could have a slow week or something so won't be freaked out if its a bit longer than I thought. Ciao Jen

Blood Test Done!!!

Hi all!!
I have been to my blood test this morning... Painful!!! 3pokes in total.. cos cannot get blood out of me.. :) Thinking about it... after the amount of money, pain that I have suffered... I will not want to give up until I reach my goal weight...:p
Fornight, try to think positive and rem your mum needs you more than anyone now.. stay strong!!!
I think I have gotten addicted to reading this forum for more post everyday.. i guess the support all of you gave is really a huge help!!! Happy to find this forum...

what a week

Well good evening ladies,

This website is amazing and so many new people too ~ so a big helloooo to all the newbies and the regulars

Fornight - i was sorry to read about your mum and the hard time you are having but you sound like you are very strong and are doing a great job so hang in there. My prayers are with you.

the old me - Congratulations on 5 days deviation free. I know how hard it is to not deviate and just to yet you know i have been watching (well reading) your weight loss for some time and you are doing great, fabulous so please don't feel discouraged I think you are an inspiration.

L-jay - you're doing well thanks for the support and encouragement

missymum - thanks for thinking of me, glad to know someone is there. How has your weekend been? - holding strong I hope

majiclea - I feel for you but how are you doing now?

Baby81 & Tas - I also suffered for PCOS and was told i would never have children but i have 2 beautiful healthy kids. The body is an amazing unit because it can heal itself we just need to trust it but it is interesting that PCOS is now linked to being overwight i wish i knew that 17 years ago.

Wow:cool: that was a lot of catching you to do. I was amazed to see I had to 12 pages of posts to read, which was a great way to end my birthday week - doing something I want to do. Well heaps have happened this week starting the program (last friday Yeah:) :) ), being taken away for a romantic weekend;) , turning 38 :p on tuesday and being spoilt with lots of presents :D (i highly recommend this to everyone). I have completed my first week on the program and i am doing very well (if i say so myself). I completely resisted tempation several times (my son is a budding chef, games night -chocolate chocolate and more chocolate and today walking pass the hot bread shop at Geelong).

Oh back to the program my start was great and my family is very supportive now. I took my measurements this morning and i have lost 29.5 cm overall which i'm stoked about, haven't weighed myself yet i was going to wait but i am curious, very curious. Today (sat) we took the big drive (3hrs each way) trip to the Geelong office for a meet and greet with my consultant. She was very impressed with my measurements but she did increase my water intake to 4.5litres per day (think i will just keep my legs crossed until i'm finished the whole program)

Well ladies charge your glasses and drink up the H2O I'm in for the long haul and very determined to get there without any deviation at all, so thanks for caring and sharing i have learnt so much in such a short time.

Cheers
Jewls:eek:

Thanks Jewls, I'll be looking forward to watching your progress too. It sounds like you are off to an excellent start, so keep on keeping on! Well done. The birthday treats sounded lovely, lucky you, glad you had a good time.

tickers

I've just noticed something about the tickers. I assumed that the more weight you had to lose, the longer the ticker would be. Der! I've just realized all the tickers are the same length, with the increments between being the same amount. What differs (besides the obvious being choice of slider, and ticker) is the more a person has to lose, the smaller the distance the slider moves per kg, because they are fitting the different amounts we all have to lose into the same distance. Now that may seem like a totally useless piece of info, but it means conversely for ones who have less to lose to begin with, their slider moves a greater distance for each kg lost. I cant believe I never noticed that before!!!! How unobservant am I. So while the ticker is useful, its really the numbers on it that are more important. They tell the real story, not so much the actual ticker movement. Does anyone out there get what I'm on about?

I'm so trying to stay distracted and away from food, that I thought I'd spend some time bringing that totally useless piece of infor to everyones attention, though unlike me you were all probably bright enough to sort that out for yourselves:rolleyes:

Jewls well done on losing the cms. The tape measure tells a good story.
babyegg a tip with the blood tests. Make sure you are well-hydrated, it makes the blood much easier to draw. I was told that in the beginning and it made a huge difference. Much of it comes down to the skill of the one on the other end of the needle too.
rjm you are doing great on the refeed. Hope those kgs keep coming off.

Had a thought about the ticker thing. Its occurred to me that as we get closer to our goal, if we did another ticker (keep the original in the signature too, and adjusted it say for every 10kgs we lose with the start weight at our current weight (not the original, when the slider is moved, it will be a bigger movement than on the old ticker and look much more impressive. I think I'll go and do one and try it out.

So much to say so little time...

Well i haven't been posting on here as often lately as my ticker has shown no sign of movement until today... YAY!!!

Fortnight - Everything with you mum will work out, you just have to be there for support.

rjm - Good luck with the refeed...very envious :)

Babyegg - I am sure my veins see the needle coming and dive inside my bones... it's normally 3 nurses later and a dozen puncture wounds each later before i feel relieved!

Magiclea - Put you deviation behind you... no use dwelling on it and you will find that if you have gained anything then it will leave you as quickly as it came. As you can see with yourself the result speak for themself so dust off those scales and get right back on the band wagon so to speak!!! :)

asyoz - Goodluck and welcome to this wonderful forum of beautiful supportive people. The results really do speak for them selves as you will find out shortly. they are all the motivation you need to stay incontrol of the situation. Plus now you can vent any frustrations or elations you have on here and we will always be here to listen and or offer encouragement.

less of me - Checking this forum for me has now turned into a ritual. As i work in a family business i find this to be done very easy. When ever i have a free 15 minutes i read them but not always reply. By doing this i feel that it helps me stay focused and also not think about what i could be eating (not that this happens much anymore as i love my new lifestyle change)

By the way Magiclea where have you gone i miss reading you encouraging posts every couple of days they fill us all with inspiration...

And on a personal note i have had a meeting with my consultant as they only travel up here once every 2 months and she suggested we give ourselves goals. Hubby and i have decided that once we have BOTH reached out goal weights we will be looking at trading in my VT Commodore to a SV6 Commodore. But the deal is we both have to have completed our refeeding programs. So hopefully i move quicker than i have...

Well sorry to all for the enormous post (i think this is my longest) And have a great sunday off.

Tam

tasm you are doing fantastically. Dont compare what you are losing to your hubby. I dread to think how much faster my hubby would lose weight than me if he did Cohens. I had a friend who did the cabbage soup diet with her hubby. She lost weight slower than him, but the real humdinger was that unbeknownst to her, he was going to work and eating the days before bakery stuff that was to be thrown out, and she found chocolate wrappers he had hidden in the car. She had been 100% on the diet, and he still lost faster than her. Talk about adding insult to injury. We had a laugh together about it, but its a real pain in the backside.

Hi forgive me if i do anything wrong in this - first timer. I am 24 who decided after 4yrs of being oobese - put it on after a car crash (and til now, its included a couple new ones and many operations and other injuries) i decided it was time to kik it to the kerb. I joined Cohens a cple of wks ago but only started Tuesday (27th?June) so i prob havent lost much if any but i hope i have chosen the right path to take. I am hating the weighing thing. I am drinking diet coke but i think too much (4 cans a day- limit is a litre)- better then the 2lt of normal coke previously!!! Water is an issue too- i simply hate the stuff but i will try harder. I also live alone which makes it harder for motivation also! Any tips??

I weigh 92.8kg and my goal is 61-63. I havent been this low for many years but i am hoping i get there- reassess at 70. I dont want to go too low with my mum and sister getting depression with such low weights for their size. 30kg is a lot to lose and i wld hate to lose it but have loose skin after!!!! Tummy tuck a posibility but i dont want to resort to such drastic measures after all that effort to be even more perfect :p Anyways- hope i am doing the right thing- i know deep down i am but i am having odd cravings for chocolate something i dont eat normally. I need to lose it for my health, but its so far away!!!!!!!!!! I want it yesterday- im sure u understand.

Dee
