Hi All. Have any of you asked your consultants if you can have garfish. Thanks to evryone for your posts they are very motivating.

Mitmary7: Congratulations on you success. How do you ensure you do your measurements at the same place on your body each time. The Cohen book has a table that requires five parts to be measured but these are not the whole body. I am interested as to how you measure a total loss for your whole body. I have just noticed your ticker, I also love shoes!!

Miss Kath: Thanks for sharing your life after Cohens experiences. Can you explain the process of refeeding. What issues seem to cause difficulty, as it seems from past posts that some people have trouble with it, or choose not to do it. Thanks for staying in touch. Do you enjoy living in London?

4ukids: You also will have fantastic results, once you get into the routine. It is the fact that it is so fast that will keep you motivated. I have "surrendered" to this programme until Feb next year, at which time I will assess my progress and goals knowing I have given it my very best shot. My consultant thinks that my goal weight is achievable by Dec. So far it seems to be self motivating because of the speed at which you loose weight and cms. and you never feel like you are starving. Once others start noticing your new shape you really get a good dose of motivation.

asyoz: My consultant told me about a lady aged around 37 who lost 93kg in 14 months. While you may feel its daunting at present start visualizing yourself slimmer. Mitmary7 posted that she has set some short terms goals and focusses on them. Unlike other programms I have been on, if you do this correctly you will not feel like you are starving yourself. Believe it is possible - Because it is. Get through your first week and it gets alot easier. Looking forward to following your progress.

less of me: You have made fantastic progress, looking forward to your ticker.

Fornight: Congratulations on the KFC meal. Good will power and resolve. Its a great feeling knowing your body's chemistry is working for you so you can reach your goal. I am constantly amazed at what the body is capable of, and very excitied that my old habits can be changed so quickly with this programme.

Old Me: Congratulations looking forward to my ticker looking like yours. You must be feeling fantastic !!

L-Jay: Good to see the loss has stayed off. After having a discussion about water on the forum last week I increased my intake to 3litres and have tried to get an extra hours sleep each night, after a few days I had a sudden drop in weight over 24 hours, I was 1.7kgs lighter. Checked it many times, but it was real. Went to the loo about 4 times an hour but it seemed to work. You probably know all this but thought I would share my experience incase it was useful.

Missys-mum: I have found social situations difficult and they need alot of mental preperation and planning. If you want to conquere the situation you could try taking lots of water and one of your fruits and crispbreads and if necessary your lunch to Luna Park. As for the pizzaria maybe you can eat before you go and have your other fruit and crispbread while others are eating. I know this is difficult but you need to establish something that works because it will come up again in the future and you need to have a way to get through it. Focussing on the event rather than the food will help. Its not forever and by the time your daughter has her next birthday your body will be stabilized and you and I can eat that pizza without the guilt and kilos. Good Luck

Good night all.

Oh, I am so worried now. My mum may need to do an operation for her leg due to her rheumatism. The doctor said he needs to cut off some of the bad muscles in her leg. Medication and injection will not help much now 'coz her rheumatism problem has gone too bad. After the operation, she will need to be stay inbed for at least 2 weeks.

Hello all!!!

cHello everyone!! I have been reading this forum for many days now.. and the great news is that I have signed up just today.. I am so happy that I have made the move to see a new and better me!! I am looking forward to sharing my experience with all of you here!! I will be taking my blood test this sat.. *ouch* must be very painful.... Till than!!!:)

missysmum motivation is so hard to get when you havent got it. I have a theory that when you're run down or not feeling well, the motivation isnt there. I believe it may be the body's way of saying its coping with all it can at the moment. I know when I'm sick thats true. Enjoy the weekend. Dont get caught up in what you should or shouldnt eat. But, dont go overboard. Maybe give your body a chance to feel better. Get the blood pressure sorted. You can bet that when you are feeling more well, your motivation will return. You cant force these things to happen. The most important thing is you get yourself well. Listen to your body. Is there anyway you can get some help with your daughter or anything, because you sound like you've had enough, and I really feel for you. Allow yourself a chance to unwind and relax. Weightloss is important, but it isnt everything.
I'm glad it was good news with your scan. At least you dont need to worry about that. Just take a deep breath, work out the best way to deal with your blood pressure, and take it a day at a time. And get on this forun and post whenever you need to. You will get there, just dont stress yourself with trying to make things happen before you are ready. Things will work out. You will be fine, just try and be sensible, and have some fun. Thinking of you, and hoping the best for you.

mumbine and the old me keep up the good work girls, you are doing great!!!

Welcome babyegg

fornight sorry to hear about your mum. Keep us up with whats happening.

beebee thanks for the water reminder. Depending on what I'm doing, it can be a bit down some days. Jewls reminded me of that a while back and I really appreciate it.

less of me that is such a positive attitude and plan you have there. Dont say you are only 1/2 way there. Half - way is great!!!! I understand what you mean about sitting on the computer a lot. I have to be disciplined, because this forum is where I get most of my motivation at the moment. We all do what we have to.

Missymum I dont mean it to sound like I'm discouraging you from continuing on Cohens. beebees advice is good about preparation. But I kind of understand where you are at right now mentally. When I've been like that, all of a sudden something clicks in my head and I get back on the wagon and its all good. Will talk some more later.

Everyone have a good day.

Welcome babyegg!! Im getting blood tests on saturday too- looks like we might be starting around the same time. How exciting! Hope you are getting alot out of the forum- i know i am.
Blessings baby81

Hi everyone,
Weren't any of you concerned by the post from Cohen help. They said that all the clinics, except one in WA, would soon be closed. I think I would be asking some more questions before handing any money over. How is one clinic supposed to look after all the clients in Australia?? I am just really pleased that I have my program and re-feed. I think it is really strange what is happening to all these clinics. Surely every clinic couldn't be being mismanaged.
Missys mum, so glad to hear that your scan went well. It is still a bit strange that your blood pressure is so high. Just keep taking your medication, and have a great day at Luna Park. I think I am with L-jay on this one. Some times you just are not in the right frame of mind to carry on (that's why I'm now doing re-feed, and not continuing on any further at the moment).
L-Jay, sounds like you are going strong again, and getting back on top of it all. Well done.
fornight, so sorry to hear about your Mum. I hope all goes well.
less of me, totally understand the getting addicted to these forums. Some days I think I have done absolutely nothing but sit on here and read and post. These are usually days when I am most needing motivation though, and I'm lucky that my kids are at school all day, but my house work has definately been known to suffer!
mumbine, you just have to get yourself over the initial first week or two without breaking it , and the hunger and any desire to binge will disappear. Good luck getting back on track.
*sunshine*, sounds like you are one of the lucky ones. I would have saved myself an absolute fortune if I had found this diet sooner. Having a thyroid problem must be a bit of a pain. My mother has this same problem, and finds it really difficult to lose weight. It would probably help a bit if she stuck to a diet though!!!
beebee, I think water is definately the secret ingredient. I've never heard of garfish.
Well, day 3 of re-feed is done, and I think the bread is a definate "trigger" food. Last time I completed the re-feed I had no trouble with the bread, but this time a definate reaction. After eating it for only 2 days I have had the worst stomach pains, and been running back and forwards to the bathroom. I have gone back to crackers for a day or 2 and then will try bread again to see if it was the bread or a bug or something. I am thinking it is the bread however. I reallly hope not as i just LOVE my bread!!
Anyway, have a great day everyone.
Talk to you all soon.

Happy Friday

Hello to everyone :)

Well I have to say that I am hanging my head low and feeling very undeserving right now ... my terrible three day diversion hasn't cost me too much on the scales amazingly!!! I managed to drop another 2kg in that week. Mind you, I think I downed enough water to sink several naval fleets. I really look forward to the day when I am not feeling constantly busting... it is certainly the key to weightloss though isn't it!

I have been super good back on my program now and have really resovled myself that this is it... no more diverting for me. My kids are under instruction to berate me badly if I even hint at consuming something I shouldnt but I am pretty secure in the whole thing now so don't think I will encounter too many problems. I tell you one thing though, I nearly cried yesterday. I went out to lunch, couldnt really avoid it so I rang early in the morning and spoke to the lady who runs the cafe, she is really lovely so I didnt feel uncomfortable. I told her exactly what I could have in regards to how much tuna, and emphasised it had to be in springwater plus the salad vegies she could choose from and how much. I also told her about my one teaspoon of precious mayo. My lunch looked gorgeous and while I was eating it I was thinking to myself, gosh, the mayo gives it a wonderfully creamy taste, and as I have only used my mayo allowance about three times in the entire month of this plan I just assumed my tastebuds were picking up that extra delicious morsel of fat... well I could have cried when AFTER finishing the lady said "oh, I forgot about your tuna and used that tin for someone else so yours was the one in oil but I drained it all off, hope thats ok".... *sigh* ... what do you say??? I think the look on my face must have spoken a million words. bugger bugger bugger!!! I came back to work and drank a LOT of water but felt really cheated. I think I will just have to live and learn because afterall I guess I cant whinge too much, I intentionally ate all that crap a while ago myself. I think I will become a social recluse for the next six months!

On a nicer note... a lady left me a bag of spinach yesterday as a thankyou for something I did for her, I was RAPT!!! Last night I had a sumptuous and seemingly huge meal. Spinach is so light so my allowance allowed me five leaves, a quarter of a tomato and a quarter of an onion. I boiled the leaves and then onto each one put a spoonfull of my mince allowance that had curry powder and black pepper added to it. I wrapped up each of the parcels and put then in a little baking dish and sprinkled over the tomato and onion before covering it in alfoil and cooking it for about 25 mins... it was delicious!!!! Yummo... same again tonight me thinks!!!

Anyway, welcome to all the new people, it is wonderful to see such a steady stream of people contributing so much wonderful advice and feedback.

Have a truly wonderful day everyone ... and Fornight, your mum will be in my prayers.

Leanne

magiclea that is so frustrating when you do everything you can to be prepared and someone blows it for you. Anyway, I'm sure it was mainly the mayo that made it nicer, at least the oil was drained off, but I understand how you felt. You are doing so well with the water. I'm struggling with that at the moment. Its so cold, and I dont like drinking warm water. I just have to bite the bullet, because that is the key. It may just make the difference for me between being 84 and 83.5. Its great that you are back on track and your determination is there. Deviating can be such an obstacle. The actual act itself may take only minutes or seconds even, but the after affects physically and on the motivation can last for days. Remembering that may help me not to go there again.

rjm I reckon you are probably right about the bread. I love it too. But am pretty sure it does the same thing to me.

Welcome BabyEgg :p

Fornight : amazing that u managed to resist the KFC.
and sorry to hear abt ur mom, hope everything goes well.

magiclea I think it was you who said once that the paradise lite wholemeal crackers taste like they have cheese in them. I've eaten them for months, and today, for the 1st time, I definitely detected a distinct cheese flavour. Yummo!

I'm a bit bored, too cold to do housework, too early to get tea. To restless to do anything else, so I'm hanging around on here waiting for some more posts to read hint hint. I think its just end of the week chill out time or something. I'm scared I'll go wandering into the kitchen if I'm not careful. I'm sick of the cold weather.

Hi fellow Cohenettes, is that a word???
Haven't been on for awhile and as usual takes a good hour or more to read all the posts. Welcome to all the new guys, I'm sure you'll all get a really good response from all us "oldies".

Keep forgetting the water but after reading the posts have got myself a really BIG glass and am guzzling away as I read and type. Having 2 small gala apples as I couldn/t find any medium one's at the markets, do you think that is ok? Seems the gala's may have finished for the season which is a shame because I think they are my favourites. Will have to replace them with the mandarines anyway as the damm parrots are getting into the tree and making a mess, wouln't mind them having a couple now and then if they would just eat the whole damm thing and not nibble a bit out of 6.:D Anyway have picked as many as I could reach and put them in the fridge so guess that will have to be my staple fruit for the next week before they go off. (Not much chance of that happening;)

LJay and others who have "supposered" friends who try to jeopadise your diet's just keep on smiling and remember "you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar" :p You'll be the ones who'll benefit from a healthier and happier lifestyle.

asyoz Congratulations on making the decision to join this lifestyle. Go for it as there's nothing to lose except weight and everything to gain including life and yes we are all doing it together.

fornight Well done on resisting the KFC. I keep thinking that even the smell is enough to put weight on me. Before I started the programme I would swear that if I even happened to walk past a bakery or somesuch just the smell put an extra kilo on, so well done. Hope your mum's op goes ok and we are all here for you. Chin up.

RJM Bread does seem to have that effect on most people and the bloating. I have a friend who uses Spelt flour to make her own bread and doesn't have any of those awful symtems. Maybe try that if you have a bread machine, but I think you can now buy loaves made with Spelt flour, would probably be more expensive but with only one or two pieces per day pop the loaf in the freezer.

I haven't been very good on this diet for about 2 weeks now and am starting to think that I'll never get back on track. I think the reall problem is: My husband who has been on this with me and has lost 18kgs is now within a couple of kilo's of where he wants to be and so has started to nibble on things and wanting to have chinese lunches on shopping day. That definately hasn't helped me as I still have 10kg's to go. Everyone tells him that he's looking fabulous  while they don't even mention the weight I've lost. I guess I'm feeling a little jealous. Even people who I haven't seen for awhile say to me "are you losing weight" duh and when I say 16kg's they go "really, that much?" I feel as if I'll have to lose another 20 before anyone notices. Oh well I guess my little venting of the green eyed monster was what I needed so now I'll just get back on track and SHOW THEM ALL.

Cann't remember who asked about Garfish but no they aren't on my list of fish which reads :Tuna, hake, dhufish, snapper, whiting, sole, flounder, prawns, crayfish, lobster, calamari, shark, flake and crab.
 Can anyone tell me that although it say's prawns,, it say's no shrimps. Shrimps are just small prawns after all. Maybe in America they are something else. Does anyone know about this?

Cheese I cann/t seem to find anything much to do with the cheese that i'm allowed and I'm really missing it. Does anyone have some recipes for cheese that you could share. The only way I've had it so far it to melt it over mushrooms or top a cracker biscuit with tomato and melt cheese in microwave. Both very nice but don't make a very big meal. Any help would be appreciated.

Having fish for tea tonight with stir fried veges Yum cann't wait. Here's a tip that may help some of you. The cost of fish here is quite expensive but I go to Watsonia's (in W.A.) depot and buy a 5 or 6 kg box and it works out a lot cheaper than from the shop's. The public can buy from outlets like these that supply the shop's so look around for one in your town and go and see what they have available. It sure work's out a lot cheaper.

Well it looks like we're in for a bit of winter weather tonight here in the south west of western australia, about time too, we're running out of water as we rely on rainwater for the whole house and it's not until you live in a rural setting that you realise every time you turn the tap on or flush the loo that the water just doesn't come from the town pipes. Been a bit of a worry lately but hopefully thing's are looking up at last.

Getting dark with all the clouds overhead so will say bye for now and go and prepare dinner.

To the lass who I think was from South Africa asked what was tea, well we call our mid day meal either lunch or dinner and then our evening meal either tea or dinner. Really depends how you were brought up I guess.:D

Cheers.

Too much...

Wow, i just had a very intense shopping trip. I was doing a supermarket shop and i hadn't had dinner. Everyone knows that is one of the biggest no-no's but it's probably worst when you're on this diet. I can't believe the overwhelming urges i was having to binge. I even contemplated chewing and spitting . Of all my urges that has definitely been the worst. I usually give into those binge urges and I DIDN'T! I did however get into the car and burst into tears  Seems like i may have turned a corner. I really showed myself that i can get past that urge, even if it is painful. I'm going to try retraining my brain to remember that bingeing is not on.

QUITE PROUD :D Hopefully, i can do that next time too!

Hope you're all well....

Hey everyone,

Well Im now done 7.5kg! very happy about that. I've got my first blood test on Monday.

rjm: I'm very concerned about the clinic closures. I feel like I've been ripped off. Closing the doors of a business is not an overnight decision, and considering I've only been with Cohen's for about 3-4 weeks now, I really feel that at the time I joined they would have already had some knowledge of what was going to happen, and they should not have accepted my enrollment.

Hope everyone is going well.

SheBear :)

When do people finally notice?

 Gayegel
I had the same problem as you and couldn't believe that no one seemed to notice my weight loss. Its such a huge thing in my life and I thought it should be obvious but for me it wasn't really until recently that people started to comment. I am now 27kg less than my highest weight! I am about 11kg off goal and they are noticing, mainly, although I saw a dear old friend the other day who I thought would faint when she saw me and she didn't even notice. LOL Guess it goes to show that those who love you just love you for who you are not how you look. They'll notice your lovely figure soon and then they'll be so impressed. With some people, it just doesn't show fast, which might mean that you always carried your weight well and looked good no matter how heavy you were. Keep it up, shame to let the fact that hubby is almost finished spoil it for you now... in fact if he breaks all the time he might have trouble keeping his weight off too. You and I can have challenge to lose that last little bit if you like.

Hi,
Well I wasn't going to check out the forum until after my next weigh-in, but here I am...can't seem to stay away. It's just as well I have more will power when it comes to food!

I don't know if you have checked out the Cohen's website, but there are a heap of recipe ideas for cheese, as well as all the other protein groups we are allowed to eat. There are recipes for cauliflower cheese, (modified) Greek salad, quiche type things, baked ricotta and so much more. The cappucino cheese cake is one of my favorites except I add cinnamon to mine as well - YUM!!! I had this for my birthday and my family put a whole heap of candles in it for me. It was great because I got to have my cake and eat it too! I highly recommend this to anyone who feels like treating themselves with something sweet and yummy.

So, here is a link to the cheese recipes on the website:

Check it out!

Well done Mumbine. Great work to overcome such an intense craving. You really must have turned the corner and can now constantly remind yourself that if you do break, it will have been a waste to go through that feeling and over come it. You must be really proud of yourself!
SheBear, I am finding it really weird, and I am getting the impression that the clinic owners have nothing to do with the closures. I get the impression it may be coming from a higher authority. Hopefully you won't have any trouble and the one remaining clinic (in WA) will be able to look after all the customers. On a lighter note, excellent weight loss. Stick with it, you really won't regret it!
gayegel, thanks so much. I will try to get some spelt bread. Do you know if you get it in the supermarket, or will I have to go to a health food shop? I don't think I can have it till I finish re-feed, as the re-feed states "no health breads" and my consultant said that you should only have white or wholemeal bread.
L-Jay, the cold weather is really the worst thing for diets. I have been feeling the same as you (which is why I started re-feed), and wasn't sure how much longer I could cope. Stay motivated you will get to your goal.
MagicLea, how disappointing, when you went to so much trouble to ensure you stayed on track too! I wouldn't worry too much, though. If she drained off all the oil, I'm sure no harm was done.
I haven't had any bread all day, and my tummy has definately settled down, so I might try some wholemeal bread tomorrow ( I previously had white), and see how that goes, otherwise it looks like it'll be no more bread for me (unless I can find some of that spelt bread.)
Have a great night everyone.
Talk to you all soon.

My mistake

I just made a discovery, my Cohens goal is 62kg not 63 kg which means I have a little further to go than I thought (not sure why I got 63 in my head) But on the good side I also had in my head that I had to reach 63 BEFORE ordering refeed and now I can order refeed at 64 kg. I am actually quite pleased, as I move on sooner than I thought LOL
I have moved my ticker to show my true goal weight. If all goes well I should hopefully reach 64 by about 25 August. Its good motivation to keep on going without STUFFING it up. Only 56 days till I can order my refeed I hope. I 'll be fine if its a bit longer but it gives me something to focus on.It might even be sooner! I think I'll add another counter.

Hey guys,

Whats the go with coffee, and more specifically caffeine. Are we allowed it? I've noticed a few recipes on the Cohen's site and a few people on this forum have mentioned having or using coffee.
But for some reason I have it in my head that we can't have caffeine? So I've been drinking caffeine free diet coke, and haven't had any coffee.

So can we?

SheBear : Yes we can have coffee black, decaffinated if you have more than three cups a day. Its under section3.7 Drinks of the manual. As for diet coke it appears that has to be caffeine free and max of 1 litre a day.
