Keep Faith

Ridiculous- sounds like you have my bug. When i'm frustrated, upset, stressed etc. I clean like a woman possessed!! It'll do you some good. I know i'm only new in the game but my friend has been on the program a while. She mixes up the order she has her meals. ie has her big meal in the morning and her meal 1 at night.
I try to shock my body by doing an exercise or activity i don't usually do . 6 weeks ago i was in a weigh watchers rutt, i climbered Mt Warning near Byron Bay and that week i lost 1.75kg. Ok I'm not recommending climbing a mountain, but try a bike ride, or a yoga class or even a kayak adventure.
Also i have interesting views on fibre there are heaps of different types to try, personally take psyllium husks in there pure form. i work great at its very cheep. Fibre keeps you full for a long time so try having a little after breakfast lunch and dinner.

Apart from that stay true to the program and we'll keep supporting you.

Sweet Dreams everyone- hope you all lose weight in the land of nodd!

karol: 130cms is wonderful!! You are obviously very determined now – given that you are still on your second week of Cohen’s, you really are on the home stretch, because this loss should be much faster than the past. You must really be very proud of yourself!!

Chico: Glad you’ve joined us, look forward to getting to know you. I only ever take notice of my weight in the morning and I talk to my consultant by email or phone. There is no clinic near me. So that is something I don’t have to worry about. However I do know that I only trust my morning weight for accuracy – and ultimately no matter what, that is what will really matter in the end.

Ridiculous: I am so laughing about the cleaning frenzy! So wish you could come do mine for me. It is usually women about to give birth who have these frenzies!! Sorry about the scales though. Tomorrow has got to be the day – or the day after. We don’t lose evenly. It will happen. And I eat my fruit and bicis too.

Carissa: Thanks for the encouragement. And you seem to be doing pretty well so go for it! I know what you mean about the cold. I really have to rug up these days. So many warm clothes or loads of electricity – or both!!

Lisa c.: Love your new word – Cohenettes!
HERE’S THE CHALLENGE …. THERE MUST BE SOME MALE COHENSIANS OUT THERE - DON’T BE INTIMIDATED … JOIN US!!

Wooneybear: You can do it – we all can. Slow start doesn’t matter – it’s the finish that counts, and what you learn about yourself along the way. One important thing though – you will sabotage yourself with tinned fruit – really bad choice – sorry. Better to know now than on the scales later.

jude: I can have chicken and steak twice a day and fish 3 times. So Pink Lilly, you might be spot on. Our programs really can be different. As for the thyroid, you don’t really want the issues associated with it – I will just be glad if it brings me somewhere in the ball park of the other slower loses. As my consultant said: I am in the bottom 3%!!! And good pick up on the sugar in a can – I read my asparagus label very carefully. Hope you drain the water before you weigh?
Jude your posts are always so thoughtful, thanks for your input, I really appreciate it. And your numbers are looking so good. Your loss is building all the time – you are going to pass me soon I think.

moneypenny: I feel for you. You are not the first person to get overexcited during refeed. They tell me that the better your refeed time the better the balance after, so even if you have to go back a couple of days and stick to it accurately til the end it will be worth it. I’m sure there is some bloating and stuff in there, so hang in. You really deserve a good result. Stick with it. You are too close not to. Hope all goes well.

Catch you all later,
lizzi

Every time i try and do a post my computer crashes, so i've given up for like over a week!
so hello, everyone, while my comp is working! who knows... maybe it'll crash in a sec again.

anywya, i'm still going strong which is great . but when i think how much longer it's going to take, seems like forever! but the last 2 weeks have gone pretty fast, so i hope i get there!

damn so many posts, i'm only gonna reply a few!! but on a whole, congrats everyone for doing so well! and getting back on, or just starting, etc! everyones just great for even taking this huge step!

oh but first.... when i first started it was at the melbourne clinic, then i had to get a new program, so my friend started the clinic at dee why and she said do it through us. so i did, and she then left teh clinic and then today i got an email from perth (i guess rosemary is like some kind of boss of them all?) anywya, the email said dee why had closed!!! means those girls lost their jobs, they were great ppl, really good sending emails and checking on me!! and now they're gone :( poor things. so anyway, everythings getting forwarded on to parramatta. geez. and i'm still in melbourne!! so yeah. next....

cleaning? nope not me !! i'm not that great. i do enough but not going overboard... yet! who knows, maybe i'll get the cleaning bug!

i eat all my crackers and fruit too. fills the gaps! i also dont need the tea but i have some (slimmers tea, found at health food shops normally - green box, basically a laxative) but i find i got regularly like once a day.

about the cold? i actually bought an electric blanket! the move to melb from wa was cold enough, then i started the program!!! aughgh! its bliss tho

nasimmm try lifestyleclinic.com.au that'll head you in the right direction. (god, is that right???!)

okay i'm going now, starting to freak that its about to crash and wont work. cheers and good luck to another few days!! step by step, day by day!!! and glass of water by glass of water!!!!!

Morning All

It's so damn cold !! I have never felt cold like this before I was one of those people who would walk around in a tshirt in the winter now I am freezing all of the time. Thankgod for electric blankets.

Well you are doing so well, I was feeling really down last night all the way home from work I thought about getting chinese and pigging out but got home logged on and read your posts and made my cohens meal. Thankyou all for being such wonderful, sharing and supportive people. If you think about it we have made a network of support here that you very rarely find in the world these days. I am very thankful to the people who originally started this thread..:)

I too was wondering where all the males are there must be some out there ?

Hope you all have a great day and stay strong :D

Wow!! I am so impressed!! It seems my thyroid really was out of whack. My pulse and blood pressure have gone up - pulse still lowish but all quite reasonable now - sleeping better too. A little more energy. And before the body was slow sluggish, that I for the first time since on the program tried a laxative. Started very very gently (I'm not into cramps & pain!) - minimal response so stopped trying! Built it up over a fortnight and response was still minimal!! Knew there was a problem! Now I am 'going' every day or second day!! Still get very cold - it seems to be part of the program - but a few weeks ago the cold was near freezing point and it has eased back a little. Again all these things that we take as part of the program can also be part of low thyroid.

My body is feeling so much better with these changes. Now as you know my losses have been slower than slow - sometimes only 0.3 or 0.5 in a week. The highest after the first four weeks has been an occasional 1.5 - and that was some time ago.

Already since Saturday I have lost 1.0 and I am quietly confident that after a loss of 1.2 last week, things are really looking up. Wish I had realised about the thyroid earlier!! Wish the consultant had a list of reasons why people are slow and it had included thyroid as it should have! Took a different company and a good doctor to find an answer for me. Even I know the thyroid is a basic so I am kicking myself I didn't twig until now.

Also had a surprise in the mail. My brother lives interstate and has not seen me while on this program but we have been talking a lot on the phone 'cos we are quite close. Yesterday I had a card that said: "Congratulations on your success". Inside he wrote this encouraging note saying how well I was doing and basically told me to stay positive because he knew I could do it. It was so unexpected and so nice!! So looking forward to seeing him again.

Today is day 302 for me - yes, week 44!! And it is feeling pretty good!!!

Have a good day everyone. We can all do it. Fast or slow we will all achieve if we stick to the plan. It's like a McDonald's formula that rolls out the product every time if you just go through the golden arches! Only this is a health option for life!!!

I was very frustrated last night!!! I thought I would check the Ketostix, no colour registered. I was so disappointed and wanted to cry. I have been 100% committed, I have all the other symptoms of ketosis such as being extremely cold all the time, dry mouth (feels like I have fur on my tongue, yuk) and my clothes are getting very loose. This morning I did a google search and found out that if you are drinking lots of water (which I am) the ketones get diluted and don’t show up the stix. I also keep them in the bathroom where there is steam (which could have stuffed them up too).

Yesterday I tried taking Psylliam Husk, I almost gagged as I mixed it with water. I don’t want to use the Dieters Tea as I get really back cramps and since we aren’t eating a lot of food it really puts the body under enormous pressure to rid all the waste and water in your body. The tea is a laxative, I don’t want to get dependent on it either I have enough of other problems. The other day I saw a commercial for a new fibre drink that is invisible and tasteless. Has anyone tried it?

Netski- love the pattie recipe I will try it tonight.

Welcome to the new babies to the program.

Hi karol!
We are not all in ketosis on this plan. And sometimes we can slip in and out of it. Who told you that you were supposed to be in ketosis?
Also the psyllium might be good - but all of those fibres are deviations.
If your clothes are loose, I would just be confident it is working.

Hi Lizzi

My undertanding is that the goal of the program is to get into ketosis, becuase this when the body is using its fat storage for fuel. If you don't get into ketosis how is the body getting rid of the fat if you are not exercising?

I am confused about your comment on Psyllium Husk, are saying that it is not recommended to have the Psyllium Husk as it is a fibre?

Yay!!!

Third Day and thought we should jump on the scales. still a little sceptical..:0But i was surprised i am down roughly 2.1kgs and hubby is down 3kgs. Very surprised and excited.

Keep going GIRLS and i will try to get hubby signed up on this forum. :)

Newie

Hi guys, I have just jumped on this forum today and read a few replies and think its fantastic to hear some of your stories, ideas and achievements. I have been to an info session at the clinic, and today im going in to sign up for the program. I'm 24 yrs old looking to lost about 10-15 kg, which doesnt seem like a lot, but that weight has been with me for so long, i have so much trouble trying to get rid of it. I am still a bit worried about being able to stick to the program. I have tried a few things before with reducing carbs etc, and found that my body totally rejected that idea. I was so tired, and had massive headaches. So hoping I will be ok.
The main concern I have is having to give up my social life (alcohol in particular) when i say give up - it sounds extreme, but i work behind a bar on weekends and my group of friends and I go out on a regular basis every week, and we drink often. Im thinking that I wont be able to go out at all - to avoid drinking, or the pressure (not from my close friends - as I know they will be supportive) but from people that I see out, my workmates, and just aquaintences that I generally see out and about. Does anyone have any ideas or know of ways to counter-act this situation? I am a very social person, and not sure how to balance it out....

Cheers
Marcee :p

i can't keep up with this forum it's so busy and gets so many posts i can only jump on once a week and haven't really posted anything because i can't keep up (yes i am a blonde) :p youa re all doing so well and it's good to hear from people in the same boat as i am.

Marcee

i was in a similar predicament (sp?) but i threw myself into the situations i new i would be tempted and played it out everytime i ws tempted i would tell myself i'll be pissed off at myself tomorrow because it's not worth it and it would subside for 5 minutes ect ect now it dosn't bother me because being tough on myself on one night out saves me a week of extra dieting and means i'm week closer to my goal :) good luck you can do it it's all will power and a tug of war with your own mind!! :)

can anyone tell me about the re-feeding program and what is that like??? how quickly are foods and drik re-introduced to you????

Well guys I am back after a little deviating. Yes yes I know I'm not too happy with myself either lol. I have my 3 month weigh in next week and to tell you the truth I am really quite scared of what my consultant is going to say to me because I really have been a naughty girl. I weighed myself this morning and am up to 91.8kg although I am refusing to move the ticker because I am determined to lose the extra weight i did put on. I had a hot chocolate yesterday and the coffee man not knowing that I was on the diet mentioned it to one of the girls in the office and believe it or not, that girl then smacked me on the bum telling me not teo let it happen again lol. Well at least I know that I will have their support.

I haven't been reading posts lately, been a little busy. I have quickly read over a few and will have to catch up later. Looks to me like there are a few new girls here? So glad to see it !! :D

I am very proud to say that my supervisor at work is now on day 3 of his plan but the poor guy is appearantly going to be on the diet for at least a year ( he has a lot more to lose than I do) He has already lost 3kg ! Lucky man :) My best friend has also had his blood test and is just waiting ont he plan to come back now.

I can I will
- Wow 4kg !! Have you checked that your scales are working correctly?? If you have a digital set, maybe you should replace the batteries?? Just a thought..

Tasm82 - Lol peeing... oh my gosh yes I remember when I first started to drink so much water. The only problem is, that whenever I need to go to the loo I need to ask the girls to watch the phone. They must have been really wondering what was going on when i would call them every few minutes to go pee again.

Good luck with the weightloss guys:D

Confusion...

Hey kim_j01
- with SO many posts to read...I think you may have confused my posting with someone elses posting ;) I remember reading the post about an increase of 4kg after eating bread.....

On refeed I have introduced bread but with no weigh gain ....BUT a tummy ache....OUCH!! :)

So many posts to read,

KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC COMMITTMENT GUYS - YOU'RE ON THE WAY TO HEALTHY SUCCESS!!

XX have you all in my thought's XX

:) :) :)

Hello everyone excuse me for not reading through all the way but there are ALOT of pages and I simply don't have the time for them all. But these program seems to have alot of responce so I'm getting interested...I know we aren't supposed to be spamming but is there anyone who can send me a private email or anything with information about it?

Half a kilo lost.... Yippee!

Good news! My scales moved half a kilo (in the right direction) this morning. About time! Woo hoo! But I'm not going to move my ticker until Saturday - I can't break all of my rules in one week!

That's interesting about the physillium - can you buy it at Coles? Are we sure it's a deviation? Is there anything other than the "tea" that isn't a deviation?

Well, my house is sparkling! The only things I haven't cleaned now is the pantry (just don't want to go there - obvious reasons),and I haven't cleaned the windows yet. Have to leave something for the rest of the week! Lizzi - I'm still giggling about your pregnant women cleaning comment! Trust me - I am very much single, so no babies on the way! (although my house is so clean it could double as a maternity ward!)

I have had soo many people comment on my weight loss this week - quite ironic considering that I haven't really lost any weight over the past 3 weeks! That's a boost anyway!

Thankyou to all of you for your supporting words and encouaragment - and I would love to come and clean all your houses, but it's too cold outside for me to come over. I'd turn into a popsicle!

Have fun
Bella

karol: I don’t know about the way our body burns the fat. I understand the principal of ketosis. All I can say is that I have asked 2 consultants and they both said it is not a necessity. So go figure? About the fibre, whether it is the tea or the psyllium, I have low-carbed it before so I understand that fibre doesn’t usually count – but the principles of this program are very different. I know people take the tea and it works for them and doesn’t stop weight loss. My understanding was that taking stuff can show a deviation, depending on what you take?? All I can say is: on both questions, ask your consultant. They SHOULD be able to give you clear answers on both questions.

Marcee, Girly Girl & Xhybrid girlX: Welcome!! There is a huge resource of experience and help points in the 120 pages of this forum – worth reading through bit by bit in the next weeks and picking out the bits that are useful – anything you are not sure of, always check with your consultant. Meanwhile there is plenty of support here - sure hope things go well for each of you. And Xhybrid girlX, you need to go to the Cohen’s lifestyleclinic website for initial info, and then contact a consultant and they will send you stuff or talk to you on the phone or give you a free info night – all our programs are different.

kimj01: So good to hear from you. Sad about the breakout, but at least I hope it tasted good!! You will get it back, and you can’t change it, all you can do is go forward from this point. So really go for it now and you will see the benefits. Look forward to some good reports in the near future. And so glad you know some men who are doing it too!!

ridiculous: Glad the scales are moving – that’s very comforting I’m sure! So glad people are noticing too. You are so close to the end – just follow the formula and you will be there before you know it. You are such a strong person.

moneypenny: I sure hope you are on track with refeed – let us know won’t you?

Tash* and others who have finished – how are you all doing??

Sleep well, make sure the HGH can do it’s job,
lizzi

Psyllium

hi all, i read page 7 of my program to figure out if psyllium was allowed

The Golden Rules #12
Constipation
"while on your personal eating plan ypur habits will change as ypur food intake has changed. It is quite normal whilst on you eating plan , to have a bowel movement two to three times a week. If you feel the need, you may use natural laxatives not containing fruit extracts. If you have any difficulties please contact your clinic."

please check your plan but i thought i'd let you know that Metamusil does fibre caps which is psyllium in a capsule, more expensive but so convenient, and it helps.

will reply to other tonight. Time to go to work, i can't believe the sun isn't up yet, how sad:(

have a strong day, drink heaps and stay focussed!
