Back on the wagon

Thanks everyone for being so positive and encouraging. I was back on track yesterday. I know the most important thing for me is drinking the water. It definitely curbs cravings, and I think a lot clearer.
The Old Me - I'm back on that wagon with you.
Jude - Hey you amazing woman. Well done. You are bringing it home girl.
Moneypenny - that is a fantastic idea with the soup. will have to give it a go. How incredible does it feel to be down to the last 4kg? You go girl.
Peaches - I know what you mean. Hope you are feeling better. Try to drink heaps of water, I know that helps me not to go for the comfort food.
Minxy - I'm thinking of you. You will stick to it until weigh-in. What better motivation could you have? and you'll be rewarded.
Everyone else have a fab day. Keep drinking that water. x

Woohoo!!

Hi to everyone,

There sounds like there is some success for everyone in some essence with the lifestyle changes that we have all taken on. I guess when it comes down to it, you have to decide why it is you have made this change, and that you are doing it for yourself, and only yourself. Also, will you finally be happy when you reach that goal weight. I have had an 'epiphany' and will do this and will be happy at my goal.

This coming weekend will be diffcult in so much as there will be chocolate around and I will be staying with my husbands family for the easter break....my mother in-law is terrible when it comes to all those nasty snacks and food. But I am going to take all of my meals pre-prepared and be organised so I have no reason to waiver. My husband is terribly supportive and has been pretty good when it comes to all those late night snacks in front of the TV and assures me that the weekend will be fine. I have found the key for me is to keep busy and particulary to keep my hands busy.

Niracca - love you tip for the 'apple pie', yummy!

I have finished week 1, which went by quicker than I had anticipated and have lost 5kg!!! I know that we aren't suppose to weigh ourselves until after the first 4 weeks....but to see that scale move so significantly is greatly motivating. Bring on next Tuesday and I hope there is more loss again! Love it!:D

H2o

Thanks everyone for your affirmations. I love knowing that you understand where I am coming from.

Thought I would share this with you:

On Saturday I gave in and bought a set of digital scales. They only weigh to 200g but do I really need to know any more.

Anyway, Sunday 7.00am weighed 91.6k. Drank less than 1l of H2O.

Monday 7.00am weighed 91.6k. Managed to consume 2l of H2O for the day. Monday 10.30pm weighed 92.2k

Tuesday 7.00am weighed 90.2k. Hows that!!! (Have neally finished 1L and it is only 9.30am)

OK I know it proves that I am predictable, could become a scale junkie, but maybe

the water works!!!!

My advise as to the clothes - go and enjoy trying on new ones. Shop around and don't spend a lot of moey as you don't need them to last any longer that this season. Buy the size that is a little tight and enjoy knowing that they will soon be comfortable and then be too loose and then too big. Try on things that you would never have worn before and rejoice in how skinny you feel and how good you look. Your alterations could cost just as much as the new clothes and look at the fun you would be missing.

Congratulations to all of you who can invent new ways with food. I loved the sweet chillie sauce and will have the apple pie as a treat over Easter. Can't wait to do the soup, I am getting a bit sick of chicken and salad.

Everyone have a great Easter and make sure you remain your first piority.

Hello to all the Cohen's Crew,

My name is Lisa and I have been on Cohen's now for 7 weeks and 2 days! I have lost in total 14kgs, which I am very excited about. My starting weight was 85.8kgs and I am now 71.2kgs.

I have read every single post and I am quite inspired by everyone. Good on you all!

The reason I have decided to join your 'group' is that for the last week - I have deviated and been having a skim latte EVERY MORNING!!! For the 10 minutes of satisfaction it gives me, I feel terribly guilty afterwards, and to be perfectly honest - it has slowed the weightloss down. So I need to stop!

Was hoping that someone would please tell me to stop! I am concerned that my next blood test will show up the 'dairy' and they will not be able to do my re feed. So close but yet so far....

Looking forward to hearing about how you are all going. Love the soup idea, I will get onto that one for lunches.

Cheers (with water)

Lisa

Stop

STOP Welcome Lisa. I have been on Cohens now for 6 weeks and am not a very fast loser but in all that time I haven't had one coffee, so guess one every now and then doesn't seem too bad but I guess if you have one every day then they will soon add up.

Now it is the herring and salmon season here and hubby loves going down the coast to sit on the rocks and fish (I enjoy it as well) but the problem is:WHAT DO I DO WITH THE FISH? They really aren't the type that you can freeze cos they just dont taste the same when thawed out. HELP!!

The soup sounds great with the cooler weather coming. Will all have to get our creative juices flowing and come up with some new idea's for winter. I have made some egg muffins with mushrooms, tomato and onion, garlic salt and herbs in small patty pans and frozen them, but the trouble is that when they thaw out they are very watery, taste yummy but messy. Any idea's???:(
Still cann't seem to remember to drink that damm water but if it makes that much difference will have to make myself do it (it's not as if we don't have yummy water, we do, we have rainwater so there really is no excuse).

Well enough of my ravings for now will go a get a bottle of water. Cheers.

Lisa, Lisa, Lisa - enough is enough, sister! You have come too far to throw it all away now! You have the option of following through on your compulsions and cravings or just ignoring them. Each day, when you are ordering your coffee, make that decision. Order it black and enjoy it! Even write your order down on paper when you are feeling strong (like when the guilt of cheating creeps up on you) and hand over your order to the person making the coffee. That way, you can't cheat. I don't know what your goal weight is, but I'm sure you are not far away now. Just remember, every time you cheat, you add another week to the program. I am making a really long list of all the foods that I feel like and I am going to cook them in order once I have finished the re-feed. BUT NOT A DAY BEFORE THAT! This way, I am acknowledging my cravings, but not doing anything bad with them. Maybe you could try something like this...!?

Thanks!

Thank you to both Gaygel and Moneypenny for the quick response to my request to stop the lattes!

I will pledge to you all and myself that I will love and enjoy BLACK coffee!

Have a great day and rest of the week,

Regards,

Lisa

Control !!!

Lisa

STOP NOW

You know it's only a latte right!? It will still be available AFTER you successfully complete this program, don't cheat yourself!! -YOU DESERVE to be healthy, slim & feeling great about yourself, please - please stop this action, it's NOT worth it.

CONTROL - It's such a beautiful feeling to have control. No food or beverage can make you feel as good as being in control of your life. You are the only one who can control you, isn't that fantastic! No one & nothing can change you but YOU!!

I know I'm a bit preechy & I apologise for being so direct but, really YOU are worth it, you know you are! You wouldn't be doing this program if you didn't think you deserved to!

When you order your next coffee - think of me as you order a 'Long Black' & poke your tongue out at me at the thought!! :p XXX

Thank You I Can I Will- very inspiring post - appreciate your words of wisdom and encouragement!

I now need to get my full name off the log in...for some reason - don't ask me how - it came up.

Very new to this, but still managed to mess it up!!!

I feel so much better that I aired my naughty secret to you all.

Thanks for keeping me honest.

My first week! Success!

Hi there Girls!

Just wanted to let you know my great news! After one week on Cohen's I have lost 2.5kg! :) I am not meant to weigh myself until I have been on the programme for two weeks but I could not resist! I am wrapped, this program really works!

I knew I had lost weight, my clothes were feeling much looser and I could just see my cellulite disappearing. Amazing.

If I can keep this up (2kg per week) I will reach my target in 4 weeks! Yeah! Last week was not that hard to resist temptation, but was really tired at points. And sometimes a bit depressed.

I usually exercise quite a bit but can't really do much on this program, just don't have the energy, my consultant said to stop if I was too tired.

The headaches I have been having most days for years have disappeared. I really think this is due to having no sugar and only healthy carbs. As well as giving me headaches I really think that chocolate, sweets and too many bad carbs made me put on the weight. At least I know this now.

Trying to keep up with the water but am finding myself going to the loo lots at night! Anyone else finding this?

Please wish me luck over Easter! I am a real chocaholic and facing Easter with no easter eggs or hot cross buns sounds like the worst torture imaginable. However I just have to keep telling myself that I can eat all this stuff (in moderation!) when I am slim again. I like the idea of making a list of all the things I can eat when I finish the re-feed.

Hope you are all having a good week. Enjoy the break and STICK WITH THE PROGRAM!

Lizzi - so much respect for you for staying with it for so long! One week seems like an achievement to me!

Niracca - thanks for the apple pie recipe, will try it at work as a treat this afternoon!

Moneypenny - all the best for your last 4kg! You can do it!

Frog - Wow 5kg in a week! That is amazing! All the best for the Easter weekend!

Jude - think you are right about the water, will try to keep it up!

Lisa - just to add to the words of encouragement, keep it up and remember following the program 100% means 100% success. Also perhaps you could try enjoying espressos, I used to find it too strong, but I find them easier to get through than a whole mug of black coffee. And it feels like a treat if you go to a cafe and order a lovely luxurious, freshly ground one with a glass of water on the side. Very Italian!

I can I will - thanks for giving the others your inspiration, it is really uplifting to read your posts. And well done on your success so far!

Kathy

Where are all my old friends???

MONI ? MEL?? KASEYSMUM???? AND HOW IS MYSHY AND NAT GOING???

Been so long since I heard from u all.

Hideyho

:p Hi there,

Lisa, I hope you broke the cycle of that morning latte, how did you go today?

Miss Kath, I feel your pain, I too am a chocoholic, but am rehabilitating. I have also always done a lot of sport and exercise and have had to pretty much stop it while I am consuming so little carbs. But I figure if I stick to this 100% then it won't be long before I can get back into it. I remember some time ago my obstetrician telling me that excercise releases endorphins (just like chocolate...go-figure) and makes you feel good, maybe this is why had felt a little depressed. I know if I don't exercise I get a little titchy, walking and swimming I have managed without too much exhaustion.

I am loving this lifestyle change, I feel great....I am not tired when I wake in the morning regadless of how broken a night I have had (...kids...), my skin has cleared and is blemish free, I don't feel bloated or irritable at all. This is awesome....feeling this way is what is keeping me 100% motivated and the weight loss helps of course.

Everyone have a great easter and look after yourselves.

Frog:rolleyes:

I'm Smelling the Coffee

Good Morning All,

Thanks Miss Kath and Frog, I am having my Blackcoffee as we speak!

Such Fantastic Support from so many of you - so quickly - it really does make you more accountable to stick to something having this forum and someone else to answer to - besides yourself.;)

A little about me, I am a mum of two little girls, 4 years and 19 months. I have a terrific husband who has been very supportive throughout this journey. I live in Melbourne and have been here for 10 years (I am originally from the Gold Coast).

I started Cohen's on February 20th 2006, after seeing one of my friends be very successful, so quickly. She lost 10kgs in 4 weeks.

So I thought this is the program for me! I think we all agree that this is a fantastic program - and the results do speak for themselves. I have read every single post - and was addicted to reading them each night - there are some awesome success stories!

I got a little cocky after my first month weigh in as I lost 11kgs - and to date have lost 14kg. 7 to go! Hence the 'latte's' - but the scales never lie...I haven't lost anything now for 10 days.

Sorry for the long blurb about 'me'.

Look forward to hearing how strong everyone will have been over the Easter break.

Chocolate isn't my weakness - so I will be ok there - but a glass of wine and a latte is - but I WILL stay strong and focused. Promise.

Happy Easter to you all.

Speak soon,

L

GOOD NEWS and a challenge

Hi all,

First the good news - my "skinny" pants fit!!!

Have this pair of pants that I bought one size smaller than my regular size. Put them on this morning and they fit.

I feel really good about this small victory.

Now comes the challenge - I am travelling on business next week. And need to adjust to a time zone with a 12 hour time difference. So I am planning my strategy to deal with this. I am realistic and know that I cannot expect to continue my weight loss when it will be a challenge to prepare my own meals and cook for myself. (sigh!) Such is life.

I will continue to drink water, not eat carbs, and eat protein and veggies (although the proportions might be off) and stay away from the "naughty" food. Once I am back from the trip, I will get back on the wagon and follow my eating plan again.

Thanks for sharing all your successes. Really motivates me to learn that others too are so successful in achieving a healthier life.

Even the mighty have fallen...

So I was sticking to this plan 200%. I hadn't made a single slip, mistake, cheat or stumble. I was completely on track and focussed on my goals... Then yesterday my husband was unceremoniously "let go" from work, right in time for easter and (thanks to Johnny and his industrial relations laws) with no notice whatsoever. So I was in shock last night and drank a couple of glasses of wine. I then felt very sick and guess what - it didn't make anything better! I felt very guilty and even more miserable than I already was, but surprise, surprise, I lost over 500g overnight! I am now in the 60's so go figure! I did drink 2 cups of herbal tea and 2 cups of "the tea" after the wine in order to try and flush it out of my system, so maybe that worked, but who knows... Well, I most certainly won't be doing anything like that again but thought I'd better own up to it in public!

Travel Tips for Hopeful

Hi Hopeful,

I too travel for business - this may work for you - going by the timezone difference it is obviously overseas somewhere!

I take with me the carton of Vita Wheats, so when everyone is snacking on cakes and muffins at morning tea - I have 2 Vita Wheats, and a piece of fruit.

For the lunches I take with me the little 95 grams tins of tuna and have it with a small salad on a plate.

It may not be suitable - but I thought I would just give a little tip on what I do.

Safe Travels,

Lisa

Not Fair

Hi All,

Moneypenny that is just not fair....I really feel for you and your husband. There is never a good time, but right before a long weekend, Easter - that is just a s@#* thing to happen.

Under the circumstances...2 glasses of wine - don't beat yourself up any more than you have already - you are ok, and I am quite sure that tea would have gotten rid of the evidence!

Drink heaps of water, and I hope something good comes of this situation real soon.

Thanks Lisa. Went into a panic when my regular eating schedule was threatened. Your advice gives me an idea on how to manage the eating on the trip.

When I have to eat at restaurants, I will call ahead and ask for the food to be prepared according to Cohen's and see what the chefs whip up. Could be a way to expand my food preparation techniques. Might be an extra charge, but I do want to stick to the food plan.

I am really happy with the progress to date. Will do my best to stay on the wagon.

Hi Everyone,

I have had 2 easter eggs sitting on my desk all day - right in front of me, mind you - and haven't touched them.

Yay!

Not sure what to do with them though? I guess I will be able to eat them eventually.....

Have a good day!
