disappointed

Hi everyone, TASH, my weight loss is also very slow, disappointingly so really as I expected more from such a rigorous and restrictive diet. I have cut out the crispbreads in an effort to get the weight moving but so far no luck. I hardly have any cheese so thats not the problem. My B6 is ok, as is my water intake which is between 2 and 3 litres everyday. I am not cheating. I just don't know what to do. I am a strong willed person but only when I get results... this is not good enough so far. Its only been 900g this week . I can do better than that on weight watchers. I am feeling pretty crapped off because if i am this slow now what on earth am I going to be like when I get closer to goal? I know this is why they tell us not to weigh too often but... I can't control myself. LOL

tsk tsk

The old me- I feel its time for a reality check...
I cant believe you are disappointed with your loss so far and are saying its slow loss???? From what I can tell from your ticker and start date you've lost 4.9kg in two weeks (correct me if I am wrong) Thats 5% of your body weight! Thats pretty impressive!

I know from when I went to the Cohen's night they said most people will lose between 7-10kg in the first month. To me it looks like you are very much on track for that kind of loss. :) Dont be discouraged that you have had a slower week two, the body sometimes needs time to adjust in between and it will pick up again. I know my first week was great because some of that is water, but it levels out and by the end of the month you know your results are fat loss.
And in comparison to Biggest Loser (if you are watching), they all had much bigger losses in the first week and much slower in the second week too, but at least you are not slogging it out like them- this is much easier ;)

Maybe take some time away from the scales and see what surprise you get at the end of the month :)

It's OK!!

the old me - please think of the big picture as divinemissnat said. Over the month I'm sure you'll get to the 7 - 10kg loss predicted :)

Whatever you do, don't lose heart! Stay strong & firm about this program, it does work, you might just get a shock the next time you hop on the scales (leave it till next Wed. please, your perserverance WILL pay off). :)

Remember to keep a positive mind!! :)

:) :) :) :) :)

It's about time!!

The scale finally reads 74kg instead of 75kg!! I have been stuck on 75 for a while. They say that if you keep to this diet that you never plateau if you look at it through the lens of the 4 week time slot. If weight loss is slow it is because:you have cheated, have accidentally made an error, have fluid imbalances, are constipated, are under extra stress, are very near your desired weight, or .... and this was my issue in the last fortnight: I increased my exercise level.
Yep, I have more energy and have had a busier couple of days off and busier days at work - all involving walking. Also I bought a treadmill, and I love it. I am only supplementing my walking on slack days, not really working out on it. Still that is enough for my calf muscles to increase just a bit, and muscle is heavier than fat.
If everything goes OK in the next couple of weeks, then I reason that despite the scales, my body has to be better off, so I'm clinging to that.

IF anyone can complain about slow weight loss it is me. I AM in the bottom 10% of the population, and at a usual 4kg in 4 weeks, seems like I am at the bottom of the 10%!! But you know what? I am thrilled. Because at least it works. Nothing else came anywhere near this for me. I am not really that patient, I just don't have any other choices. At least this will get me there, and in half the time of any other plan, even if it is in twice the time of most people on Cohens. It is this or nothing, and I'll choose this anyday. Yea!!! I will get there!!!
And so will each of you, so don't be discouraged. Stick with it and you will see your losses add up and be there before you know it. It will give you such pleasure, and give a good basis for health and a positive future. Go for it!
moneypenny: you did so well. That is real will-power. so congratulations, and keep going. Be really proud of yourself. About the fish: I love trevalla. If it is blue eye, that still isn't on the list, and I was told by my consultant when I asked about fish that if it's not on the list you can't have it - where does your consultant get this approval from? I hope it is true. Very interested in this one. I have eaten a lot of prawns and enjoy them.
i CaN i WiLL: Fabulous news. What a motivation for you to keep going. SO pleased for you.
Tash*: Glad you are measuring yourself as well, because 12.5cm in such a short time is huge!! It's not like you have a lot to lose, so I would just be very pleased. Enjoy the mock wedding, that should be fun.
Diamonds: celebrations over, loads of incentive to get with the program now so that in the near future this just won't be an issue. I am sure you can do it.
rjm: Hope you decided to hang in there. You were so spot on the first time you were there. I am sure that if you can just get over the initial hump that you will get what you want.
myshy: So close now. Well done. It will feel so different when you are finished. WOW! I'm impressed.
divinemissnat: You must be close behind. How's it going? So so pleased for you.

Hi everyone, congratulations to everyone on their weight loss'. I am now in my 2nd week and have also found the scales aren't moving as quickly:confused: but will perservere until they start moving again.

kim j01 and lizzi - How do I change my weight loss on the ticker? Please take me through step by step:eek:

keep up the good work over the weekend.

well today is my 13th day and yet no loss since last sunday. Is this normal??

gayegel, as far as I know, you have to make a new one each time.

Hi Yall! I think all you newbies are getting worried about the weightloss being slow, I think if you weighed once a month then you'd see your weightloss is normal,at different times of the month we weigh more etc I remember I didnt weigh for exactly 4 weeks and my loss was 10kg in 4 weeks and that was from day 1, I know its hard cos you want to see results but if you dont see results then it will make you feel disappointed. Hang in there I dont think anyone is doing bad or crap in my cohens book it talks about reducing and reshaping and not to weigh every day as the body goes through steps in fat loss and that the ideal time to weigh is on day 2 or 3 of your menstrual cycle. Happy Birthday for the other day Diamonds glad to hear you had a great b'day. For any on the newbies that are having any constipation as this diet can do that to you alot of us use the Dieters slim tea from the healthfood shop for about $12 for 30 teabags one cup before bed and problem solved, just suggesting this in case like Lizzi suggested constipation is one of the reasons weightloss slows. Have a great weekend everyone! Ciao Chez xxx

Good temper restored.

Thanks to all those who gave me a talking to! LOL Yes I should stay off the scales and its definitely my own fault that I am feeling disappointed because I shouldn't keep looking! Divine Miss Nat.. (Shame faced look as I write this) you are quite right of course I am within normal bounds I am just disappointed that I am not one of the SUPER losers. I haven't actually lost as much as my ticker says as I was weighed almost a week before I started the program, so my true starting weight was 93.3 which makes it a loss of 3.7 kg in a fortnight which is not bad really. Anyway, I'll pop back in my box, behave myself and keep slogging away. No more complaining, think positive instead of having a whinge. At least I AM losing which makes a change from the past 12 months when I have stayed the same or gained all the time. I appreciate the input of everyone and am glad to see I am not the only one who has felt this way. Yes I suspect constipation might play a part too so will try some tea. Enough for now anyway. I am smiling as I write because its a bit funny really. I am normally a real optimist but I am also very impatient, so it just got the better of me the other day.:D

gayegel: I found that the best way to change my ticker was to select weight on the page I have saved in favourites, then my numbers come up. I change what I have to, select next, it is all done, then I recopy it and paste into my signature. Hope that helps.
kim_j01:Like Kaseysmum says, get the big picture. And at this stage, relax. Having said that, in my third week I made an accidental error, and it took me ages to work out what I had done. I was glad that I had weighed daily and charted it, because it alerted me to my error. So don't be alarmed, but check it all against your program carefully. Others have added in things that aren't on the program too without realising it, so in this early stage if it is a whole week, it is worth carefully checking it. Good luck.
the old me: As for this Dieters slim tea, lots seem to have tried it, Kaseysmum swares by it. I opt not to! At first people get cramps, and it acts very fast so you have to be around a loo when it acts. Years ago I tried things like that, and I would prefer not to go through such a violent purge. But each to their own. I find that extra vitamin C is useful. But that may not be your problem anyway. I am looking forward to seeing how your first 4 weeks end up. Just do your best and trust the plan.
Kaseysmum: haven't seen much change for you lately, just wondering what is happening?
Have a good night everyone.

Tired Body & Mind

Hi guys!

Does anyone play sport while on this program? I have just played a full game & feel very fatigued. Any tips on 'pepping' myself up? I have eaten my fruit allowance & am just about to eat my last crispbread for the day...

Feeling VERY flat..... :(

Hi All,
Just wanted to quickly post to say that I am feeling much better today!! Thankyou so much to the old me, Diamonds and I can I will for your kind words yesterday, you really did help to pick me up!!
Got my period today, so I guess that really explains a lot about my low mood yesterday!!
Went swimming today as well, and couldn't hide a little smile when my swimming boardies (which I wear to hide my fat legs) kept slipping down over my hips!! Three weeks ago I could bearly sit in them they were so tight!!! So, yes, am definitely getting somewhere, which has also helped to pick my mood up! Today was the first time I felt mildly comfortable in bathers for a LONG time!!

I can I will- I have just started a Health and PE subject at uni, which involves two hours of flat out fitness a week in one block. Last week I found myself ravishing and exhausted by that night. All I can suggest is to not plan to do too much after your game - have an early night!!

KimJo1- Stop looking at those scales!!! Don't mean to be harsh, but I am now learning to agree with all the 'oldies' who've been on this program for a while, it is just not worth the dissapointment, and you will feel a much bigger high only weighing in once a month or once a fortnight.

lizzi- Apologies for going on about a small weightloss, I think you are amazing for still sticking at it despite being on the slower end of the losing scale!

Take Care All, and get prepared for another good week. :)

Touchy,touchy,touchy

TO ALL YOU NEW GIRLS OUT THERE ON COHENS I WASNT SLAGGING YOU OUT OR TELLING YOU WHAT TO DO IM NO EXPERT JUST OFFERING SOME SUGGESTIONS AND SUPPORT.
AND I DONT CLAIM TO SWEAR BY THE TEA IT JUST WORKS FOR ME AND ALOT OF OTHERS AND THE FIRST TIME AROUND I DID THE PROGRAM I HAD SUCH BAD CONSTIPATION THAT THE TEA IS WHAT HELPS ME.
AS FOR MY WEIGHT IM MAINTAINING WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY BETTER TO DO THAN GAIN WEIGHT, I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A LIFESTYLE CHANGE NOT A RACE TO THE FINISH LINE SO IF I CAN KILL THE DEMONS THAT MADE ME FAT IN THE FIRST PLACE AND NOT HATE MYSELF FOR FAILING, AND ACTUALLY LIZZI IVE BEEN A SUFFERER OF BULLIMIA AND STOPPING MYSELF FROM THROWING UP AFTER EVERY MEAL IS WHERE IM AT AND TRYING TO GET BACK INTO MY COHENS PLAN IS WHERE I AM AT THE MOMENT. SO TO ALL THE LOVELY SUPPORTIVE GIRLS THAT KNOW ME KEEP UP THE GOODWORK AND TO ALL THE NEW GIRLS AS WELL IM SURE I'LL GET TO CHAT TO YOU ON THE CHATROOM STAY WITH THIS DIET IT DOES WORK AND DONT BE TOO HARD ON YOURSELF COS YOU ARE DOING FINE IT TAKES ALOT OF SELF CONTROL TO BREAK LIFETIME HABITS. SEE YA CHEZ XXX

Oops.
No offence was meant Kaseysmum. It was a genuine question because I didn't know what was happening with you. And the thing about the tea was just voicing my preference. Sorry you have to deal with that health battle - I didn't know. I hear it can be pretty tough. Sure hope it turns out well for you, and that you beat it. Also glad you are maintaining weight under the circumstances. Best of luck.
Lizzi

Half-way

Hi Gals

Well, today is the halfway mark through refeed for me. And in fact this time next week should be my final day (if all goes well and I dont have to go back repeating any days)
Today is significant because I can start mixing my proteins and no longer have to follow the 5 hour rule. :) So I have slept in, had a late breakfast and I am not worried about what I will have for dinner at my friends party tonight or if I will be allowed to eat when they are. Such freedom! :) I feel like I am rejoining the world! And tomorrow I will be allowed milk, and i believe I will be having a long macchiato :) It will be interesting to see if I still like milk.
Actually gals, its also interesting to see how your body reacts to different foods. Mine doesnt like bread much, (I bloat, get gas and gain 400g o/night) but I am still having small amounts to make sure my body adjusts, because I do enjoy it occasionally. I havent noticed any other problems yet, most of my re-introductions have been new fruits, which are fine. But this week, there are lots of new things, so we'll see...

I have not lost anything further on refeed, which I think is due to stress. However, if that last couple of kg bothers me (and it will) I will go back on the program again. I will have a break first though. It might be nice to enjoy the extra food and freedom from the scales for a little while. ;)

Jen/the old me- We all have days where we get a bit disappointed and need to vent a little. And that's where the forum is fantastic! We are all here to help and support each other or provide encouragement or a reality check when one is needed ;) Hang in there- the body doesnt lose in a "mathematically correct" or logical way, it starts and stops, just be patient with it. Kim j_o1- this should answer your question too. Yes, it is normal. Your body is catching up and adjusting and will drop again soon. Perhaps not as dramatically but if you are sticking to the program it will continue to drop.

Thats all from me for now ladies!
Nat x

Yea, Nat is right - we have to be able to have our grumbles and ask our questions. That's how the support forum works.
And Nat, I can hardly believe you are so close to finish. Not sure I can allow myself to imagine not having to wait 5 hours - and mixing proteins seems a long time ago. Make sure when you are eating away that you have just one bite for us!
I hope everyone is having a good day. Hear from you all soon.
Lizzi

Hi everyone.
Just thought I'd keep you up to speed, Lizzi. I didn't get back on Cohen's, and find every time I try, I seem to upset the fragile state that is my mind, and end up binging. I have bought Chromium, which controls any cravings, but I still over eat. I have just bought Dr Phil's book and am reading that at the moment. It deals with the "mental" reasons behind our eating, and I'm finding this very helpful. I am still so determined that I will never go back to where I have come from, and I am determined to get to the bottom of my problems before my weight increases. I have only put on a couple of kilos, and will sort out my "issues" soon I'm sure.
Kaseysmum - I know where you are coming from. I have also suffered from anorexia and bulimia, and have found myself binging and purging recently, which is something I recognised and stopped immediately. If you can maintain your weight loss without getting back on the merry go round, that is half the battle won. Don't ever feel like you have failed, because you have not. You are healthier than when you started, and even if you don't lose any more weight, you will still be healthier than when you started.
Anyway, take care everyone. Talk to you soon.
Beck

?????

Hiya's

Question???? Has anyone felt very dizzy & faint on this program?

I felt like that for about an hour today, it scared me & wondered if you guys have had any experience like that??

Good morning all!!

i CaN i WiLL: It will pass, so don't be too concerned.I have felt very weak, and very tired at times. Ususally after I have had a busy day, or just before eating. I do get a bit of dizziness from it but it is very minimal and I know personally I have problems with magnesium absorption, so I use it as a sign to take extra magnesium but that may not be the issue for you. Twice I have felt faint with pins and needles, and both times I was sitting down and it was because I was in a long and intense conversation - I don't normally react like this and I put it down to the fact that the body has very little extra energy to draw on. Just by moving and shaking the body I managed to divert it. I carry some vitamins with me, so both times I took an extra multi-vitamin, and made sure I got a good sleep that night. You said that you are into heavy exercise with your course, and maybe that is a bit heavy for this program? Fortunately for you, it won't take too long to get to goal. No need to be anxious. I would ring your consultant and see what they say. This lack of energy is only temporary, so unless you think there is a medical issue, don't worry and take good care of yourself. We eat healthily, it is just that all of it goes to taking care of our weight loss - not much left over.
lmr: thankyou for sharing that with us. I am interested in each of the people I have gotten to know over the last few months - wish I knew what was happening for some of the others - so if they are reading this, I hope all is well and you will let us know. Sounds like you are doing so well. It can't be easy to change such a deep reaction to food, but you seem to be doing the very best you can. You seem so determined I am sure you will find your solutions. You must look pretty good at the weight you are, and be healthier because of it, so to be able to maintain is such a positive thing.
lmr and Kaseysmum, both of you have been so honest and I appreciate your candidness about the issues you are having. Be positive, and do your best, no one can ask more than that. You are achieving so much, so I wish you the absolute best in finding solutions for yourselves.
It seems as I read through this forum that we all have our issues, whether it be health, or family, or work, or relationship, or whatever. We will all get there if we just hang on for the ride!
For me now, it is a slow metabolism, and I know that when I get past refeed I may need to deal again with insulin resistance and carbohydrate intolerances. At least I have dealt with those things before and know how to get them under control, and this program only adds to the arsonal. It will be interesting to see if there has been an improvement there, I certainly hope so. What I do know is, that I would rather battle to maintain weight than to lose it, there is a world of difference between the two!!

Well it has to be time for work, so have a good day.
Lizzi

Thank you!!!!

Thank you lizzi, you've helped me become a lot calmer!!! Great advice, I will definitely call my consultant, .....you know - I didn't even think to do that, so I am very grateful of that suggestion. :)
