Hey Girls

DAY 4 & 3kg's down!

Hope you are all having a great weekend!
Diamonds I know how you are feeling, on my first day I was thinking i can't spend the next few months eating like this.... but try to be strong, because once you get through those first few days, it's really quite easy. Just try and be organised, and have your meals planned in advance - i know for me if i don't have it all ready and planned, then i will just eat crap. I went out and bought all my meat and chicken & fish, and came home, weighed it all out into my meal portions, and stuck it in the freezer. Now i just pull out what i need for the next day, the night before. You will feel so good in yourself for the progress you will make, and it's kinda strange, cos after seeing the weightloss in the first few days, it's sorta addictive, if you know what i mean - you really do stop and think that you do not need that chocolate or chips or whatever ! Try the Blackmores Sugar Balance tablets - if i'm getting cravings one of these will keep them at bay - and keep up on the water - it makes you pee all day long! but i just keep thinking of it as more toxins washed from body (and hopefully bye-bye cellulite!)
You would have only started about 5 days after me, so we can bounce off each other if you like - keep each other on the straight and narrow!!
As for the chinese, I'm not clued up on all that yet, but i'm sure one of the other girls could help you with that.
Good Luck with day one - i know you can do it - and you will be so happy that you made the decision to do this program - just reading all the other successful stories on this post, proves that it can be done! You go girl!

Lou

thanks for your help, I've done it (tickerfactory) Silly me was looking at the control panel for the computer not in control panel in weight loss forum, still fairly new at this computer thingo but will perservere just like this diet. Once again many thanks.
Any idea's how to prepare meals for two people or do I just have to do it twice?

Hi Everyone,
Gosh I am intrigued about the cheese. It does seem that our plans vary!!

Refeed...........well I am up to mixing proteins tommorow and adding a piece of "bad fruit" i.e banana, watermelon, cherries. Struggling mightly with the amounts increased, but I think for most people they would be enjoying a fuller meal. I can have 3 pieces of bread now if I want. Today I chose not to have any. It was heaven the first day or two, but I'm really not that fussed as I can't have vegemite or margarine yet. I can have things like chicken & salad sandwiches now though if I want. Only 2 more days and I can add milk.

Gayegel - It is very time consuming preparing different meals for other members of the household. In my house I was cooking cooking around 30 separate evening meals a week. Breakfast and lunch were easy because I had only myself to consider for those, but dinner was a different kettle of fish. I did stick it out, but not without many days of wondering how on earth I could summon the strength to cook yet another meal. I think prior planning is the key. Have vegies and meat pre cut and cook as needed. That way at the most you need to wash is two pots/frypans etc. If hubby is a little self sufficient maybe he could cook his own if all the preparation has been done?

Diamonds -When going out for the Chinese I would just ask that they not add any sauces to the cooking, herbs are ok. I wouldn't be opposed to asking for specific vegetables either - luckily the chinese will be using quite a few of the vegies on the plan.Let us know how you go.

IcanIwill - I spent most of the past few years hiding from cameras and never for a second entertained the thought of posing for one for my 'before' shot. I didn't need any reminders - the way I was has been burnt into my memory!! I can see for a lot of people that would work though. I am looking forwrd to doing my 'after' shots )

PrincessLou - That would be great to have a sidekick thing going on, may i ask your weight information etc? I am currently 73 kilos and aiming for 55. I am amazed at your weightloss so far ... how awesome that is. I hope to see similar results. I am a serious caffine addict and live on Coke Zero / Pepsi Max and am going to limit myself to a measly can a day and am ensuring i drink a minimum of 3 litres of water a day. So will be interesting to see how i go. I am stocked up with Panadol n case of headache.

I have pre-prepared my meals for tomorrow. Am looking forward to it actually. Wish me luck.

Cheers Myshy on the Chinese advise. Wow re-feed sounds plentiful and a little more harder in terms of actually eating all the stuff. How long did it take for u to reach re-feed time?

Nite xoxox:)

I know we're only supposed to be looking at the scales once a month but I find myself looking a lot more. This morning I looked and saw an increase of 0.2kg overnight ! I'm not sure if it was because I ate my dinner and didn't wait at least 2hours before bed or what. Has this happened to anyone else before? Maybe this is why we're only supposed to be looking once a month incase things like this happen. I have stuck to the diet 100%. Although I am disappointed, it hasn't discouraged me at all. Please let me know your thoughts on this.

Well, this is my first Monday morning on the Cohen's Diet and I feel surprisingly good. I officially started on Friday but I must admit, I did cut out alcohol and carbs on Wednesday and Thursday in preparation for the big day. I'm very excited to tell you all that I've already lost 3.5kg since starting, which is the quickest ever loss for me!

I must admit that I did feel horribly headachey and weak yesterday afternoon after losing track of time and not getting around to eating lunch until about 3:30pm, but I suppose that is to be expected...

Could anyone fill me in on their own experiences or stories they might have heard: considering we are on a "rapid" weight loss program, aren't we all more likely to end up with stretch marks? I am a bit paranoid about this but don't know what to expect or what to do to prevent them... Any thoughts?

L-Jay that's amazing! I can't say I'm "full of energy" yet - actually had a bit of a cry yesterday because I felt so weak and hungry and weird all at once! But hey, what's a diet without a few tears!?

The only bad thing I've noticed so far is that I am smoking more than I usually would - of course the cop-out appetite supressant... Will have to work on keeping that in check! It's just that my stomach grumbles SO LOUDLY that people have been staring at me in meetings etc...! It's quite embarassing!

Hi Moneypenny!!:)

I know that embarrassing Growl!!!! At least it will give you a converation topic & perhaps a little giggle too!!-bright side :D

Are you eating your "In-between" crispbreads & fruit? :)

In-between foods.

I can I willI am making sure I eat everything I can, but sometimes I find an apple mid-morning makes me even hungrier than I was before... Last night I used a couple of crispbreads to make a crumb for a veal schnitzel, which was divine! Thinking I might do the same again tonight.

Aside from the recipes in the pack we all got when we started, has anyone come up with anything exciting in terms of meals?

moneypenny - have a look on the cohen's website - - i found a whole heap of recipes and just printed them off - my faves so far are "Creamy" Mustard Chicken, Thai Chicken Patties & Thai Beef Salad
I'm not too good at creating things on my own, but found this selection of recipes really handy. Hope it helps!

Hi everyone, hope u all had a successfull weekend. I had my granddaughters 10th birthday on Sat, made all the usual party food including mini sausage rolls and was so proud of myself for not eating one when they were cooked but then on the day I ate 4 of the damm things and felt so guilty I didnt eat my lunch, which is probably not the right thing to do, does anyone know if I should have still had lunch after a binge? Have put the leftovers in the freezer so I wont be tempted again. Finding it hard to drink all the water, would probably only have 1ltr per day at the most, but losing weight, so far so good.
I feel that the goal weight I've been given is too low, 93kg to 58/61kg, I'm about 156cm, what does anyone else think of their goal weight? I'v put my goal down as 70kg but guess when I get there I can always keep going.
Have got quite a busy next 4 weeks, with granddaughters, daughters, 60th birthday and an engagement party so am hoping that I can suss out the time they will serve dinner and not arrive until after that and have my dinner at home before I go, what do you all do in that situation?

L-Jay I completely agree about weight watchers. I love my vino so I would skimp on points all day, so that I could have a drink or 2 a night, which completely stalled my weight-loss progress. I too was walking about 6km per day and in the end, I couldn't reach goal, became disillusioned and basically gave up. I put all the weight back on, plus another 5.5kg, thank you very much WW!
princesslouThanks so much for the tip off on recipes. Looks very exciting - I had no idea they were on the website!
I haven't told anyone, except my husband, that I am on this program. Is anyone else going this way? I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what I should do if/when we're invited somewhere for drinks... Since I'm off the booze, I'm struggling to think of a good reason as to why I'm not drinking, without everyone instantly assuming I'm pregnant! Any suggestions welcome!

Gayegal, my goal weight is 58-61 and I am 164cm so I am little surprised with your goal weight. Maybe age has something do do with it? I'm not sure sorry.

Gayegal I am 27 years old and 175cms. My goal weight set by Cohens is 64kg at the low end, which is the same as WW gave me and also exactly the weight I remember looking/feeling my best at. I don't think you need to feel like you have to conform to someone else's definition of your goal weight. It's completely up to you - when you feel as good as you want to, that is where I think you should aim for.
With regards to having a meal before going out somewhere where there is food: I've always eaten at home and arrived late whenever I've been on a diet. It's the only way to avoid the inevitable temptation! Good luck!

Hi everyone! L-jay are you working off your original cohens plan or did you pay for a new one? Just curious cos im still using my old one made from Jan 05 and didnt refeed and put back on 17kgs lucky ive lost 12kg again on this old plan.
They say if you dont refeed and regain more than 5kg you need a new plan, im yet to see if this is true, am 84 kg and my goal is 68kg cohens recommended weight range is 61 to 64kg to me thats too light for my frame.
Ive just finished doing 45 minutes cardio which im finding is plenty enough for me these days I was doing 2 lots of 45 mins but feel low on energy, I love the exercise high so will keep doing 45 mins a day.
Well guys keep going strong and picture the new healthier you.
Ciao Chez xxxx

Zoooom....One month gone!!

Hey hey!

Well, today was my 7th day of my fourth week - that's one whole month gone.. in what seems like no time at all!! And not one cheat ** pats oneself on back ** :D

Sorry I was such a sourpuss in one of my last posts, but I was just so bummed about my teeny weight loss for the week. My fingers, toes, legs and eyes are all crossed that tomorrow morning's weigh-in proves to be a nice suprise :p I'm planning on having my blood test tomorrow as well, and will be seeing my consultant on Friday about the results ( apparently Dr Cohen will comment on the results if there's anything to be said ).

I spoke to my consultant over the phone about the sweetener I use - wondering if anyone else has noticed. I currently use the Hermasetas (spelling?!?!) which is one of the sweeteners recommended in my program. However, the other day I noticed on the jar it had " Now made with new recipe " and they've added natural occurring fibre ( which I assume is from fruit because there's a pic of fruit on the front ). My consultant couldn't say yes or no if I should be using it, so I'm taking it in to see her on Friday. Anyone else use this sweetener that's noticed the new formula?? If so did you check with your consultant whether it was still ok to use? I'll be peeved if it's now on the 'no' list cos of it's new ingredient... because I bought a huge jar that cost a small fortune!!

About Goal Weights.... Now, I'm not claiming to be an expert but I was trying to think of the logical reason why the Cohen's weight calculator went off height and shoe size ( which I've never encountered before on a weight calculator ).
MONEYPENNY - you say you are 27 ( same age as me ) and 175cm ( 3cm shorter than me ) and your low-end goal weight is 64kg. Well, my predicted goal weight at the low-end is 68kg. Incidentally, I wear a size 10 shoe. Maybe the shoe size has something to do with bone structure?? Maybe the bigger the shoe size, the larger frame a person has. Therefore, they can afford to hold a bit more weight than someone with a smaller shoe size, with a smaller frame. Anyone agree with that concept?? Just a thought.

To all the newbies, stick with it cos it's worth it. The headaches will go, the hunger will go and the routine will snap into place and you'll start to wonder what you did/ate before you were on the program. I say stick with the saying " Be Prepared " . If you're prepared with your meals there's no reason to have to buy something naughty. That used to be my worst habit... I couldn't be stuffed making something for lunch in the mornings before work... so what happened? I'd buy take-out or something from the canteen, and it was NEVER the healthy option trust me!

Ok, I think I've babbled on quite enough for tonight. Will post tomorrow with a ( please God let it be! ) good move on my ticker ;)

Take care all.:)

Okay this isn't going to plan ... i am plagued with the whole how can i spend the next couple of months eating this food and so in my mind on my way home i decided i'd just have that chocolate and start tomorrow. I am now feeling as low as anything and have had a good old cry becuase i want this more than anything and i am just worried its going to get to hard. Not only do i have my brithday on thursday ... which i am going to chinese for but i am away for the long weekend and supposedly going out to eat for a majority of the time. What i worry is that i wont stick to it and i want to and i am just feeling overwhelmed by it all. I am conisdering telling the ppl i am going away w about my diet and just eating before we go out ... and when i get there order a diet coke or something ... maybe by vocally expressing my diet it will make the others question me if i attempt to eat something non cohens.

Tomorrow is another day ... i just really hope i jump on the wagon for real and drive towards the success of weight loss i crave so badly. And now i realise something - this isnt about anyone / anything else but me and my weight loss and i owe it to myself to do this becuase the rewards will be so amazing.

well enough dribble. hope u r doing well today.

oh, diamonds you poor thing! just remember that the first few days are hard, but after that it's a breeze! and once you see that weight dropping, that will be enough to spur you on.
maybe with everything you have coming up, you'd be better to start on Tuesday after the longweekend? right before i started i ate so much chocolate and crap food, trying to get as much in me as i can!! but now i think back that i really didn't even enjoy it - i was just eating for the sake of it. plus i made myself so ill on junk food, thats it's kinda put me off - which is a good thing!
but if you decide to start again tomorrow, know that you can be strong, and that the weekend away would be a good temptation test for you! and if you can get through that, you can get through anything!!

you wanted to know my stats before, well i'm a 24yr old Perth girl, 176cm start weight was 89kg, goal weight is 65 on the lower end of the scale, so we have about the same kg's to lose. I'm really hoping i can be done by mid May, as I'm going over east for a holiday, and I know it just won't work trying to stick to this diet when i am staying with family. so fingers crossed! I think i have to lose at least 2kg on average every week - may be a little ambitious, but i'm gonna try my damn hardest!
have a good night, and remember, when you do decide to give this your all - YOU CAN DO IT!!! It's only a few months out of your life - and think how happy you'll be!!!

:) hi,

Well, I went to my clinic yesturday and found out alot of things.....

1. my blood test came back deviate.......... I had been eating 2 cheese meals a day and only lost 1kg over 2 weeks started not having cheese and vita wheat and in 4 day's I have lost 3 kg's........

2. I also asked would I start to platue about now....considering the weight loss I have had........she said you don't platue on this program unless you are not on it 110%.... so for those people think that they are in a platue maybe it's not....... keep going you can do it...........

3. water........ It was recommended to myself when I first started this program due to the large amount of weight to loss...... to drink 5lts of water per day.........my clinic works on for every 25kg's you have to loss.... drink another litre of water so I now drink 4litres a day and the weight is still coming off to my shock....(exept over the last couple of weeks re: cheese)

Friday I weighed 100.6kg's today I weigh 97.5kg's........ good bye to those heavey 100's......... I have been advised that I will be my clinic's biggst losser..... WOOOOHHHOOOO..........

MYSHY and DIVINEMISSNAT: how is your refeed going? keep up your fantastic work.....:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

anyway sorry to have gone on a bit....... but hope this helps......

good luck to all hope you are all doing really well........ keep up your water intake.
