Good Morning Everyone!

Hope you all survived a very tempting weekend! We are all that little bit closer to our goals. KEEP GOING!

I know it can be frustrating at times.I am particularly deflated at the moment as my goal of completeing re-feed and being all done by Christmas looks as though it will not happen. My weight loss has slowed down immensely. I am not doing anything different and continue to follow to a T it just seems my body needs a bit more time. As soon as I accept this the better. Best not to increase those cortisone levels and really bugger things up! Accept what you can't change and be happy with the enormous effort you are putting in!

Anyway, must run. Just wanted you to know ASYOZ that I have sent you a private message - hope you receive it.

Have a good day everyone.
Much love and support....

lessfatty 3.5 lbs a week is amazing! that is more than you could lose on any other diet consistantly.

Capeachee
thanks for the welcome! I am trying to be good about preparing meals ahead of time.

The consultants have not really stressed certain rules with us as for those who get to go to a clinic. I am learning a lot with this message board! I didnt realize eating less than 5 hours apart would register as a deviation...which is frustrating because sometimes my day just doesn't allow me to time it out exactly.

I think right now the hardest thing is the hours, and also not being able to eat out. I feel my social life has come to a screeching halt, I have never been on a diet where I couldnt order a salad or some semi healthy dish out. However...I dont want to be on this any longer than I have to be! So I am trying to stick it out!

Once I weigh myself next week (dyyying to know!!) I will be able to acess where Im out and gage how much longer I have.

Did your consultants map out how many weeks you would need to be on this program to reach goal? And for those who have finished, was the timeline correct?

Thanks everyone!!

How do you know you wont finish in time for Christmas? What has been your average losses? And what has it slowed down to?

Keep up the positive outlook!

Jewls Do you have a plant called "Comfrey" in your area? get some and chop it finely and put it directly on to the bruised and swollen area. this stuff is awesome as it will reduce the swelling, bring out the bruising and encourage really speedy healing of bone and tissue. If you can't find fresh plant you may be able to buy the cream at a healthfood shop or possible a chemist. THIS WORKS!!! i have had some pretty major ankle Sprains, torn ligaments, horse riding injuries etc and have always used comfrey. Usually i am walking freely again the day after the incident!!

G'Day

It just occured to me - apart from the flushing effect to the system, drinking plain tap water delivers available oxygen directly to your stomach.

Bit like breathing but a bit wetter! For those in areas where water should be boiled before drinking, or if we think that a cup of tea is 'drinking water', it isn't.

I have found that the easiest way to drink is: two Nutella glasses of tepid / warm water first thing in the morning (2 x 250ml) - one straight down, the other with the vitamin and fish oil capsules

Then, a 250 ml drink before any cup of tea or coffee during the day, and a 250 ml drink before any meal. By the end of the day 3 litres has been drunk without really going out of my way to do it. I also take a small bottle in the car

I have kept up with the water and I'm sure this has contributed to the stability of weight since completing refeeding. Funny thing is, that the body now expects this much water and there is no greater 'urgency' than when I wasn't drinking the water. Perhaps for the first time ever I might be properly hydrated?!?

By the way, regarding the Comfrey ointment for bruising, when I had the child care centre I used Hirudoid cream. It is not cheap, but a little goes a long way.

I used to use it mainly for biting marks. Many children go through a 'biting' stage when they are about two years old - and bite other children, usually on the face, without any provocation or notice.

The mothers of the bitee were usually shocked at the site of a full set of baby teeth impressions on their child's face, so I used to use Hirudoid v-e-r-y- s-p-a-r-i-n-g-l-y on the bite marks as soon as I could, and the bruising would be minimised to negligible, whereas without treatment, the werewolf marks would be visible for two weeks!

When I was a child, Mum used Iodex - very sticky stuff, came in little pots (for some reason we had two little pots with different coloured lids). Strange smell, not unpleasant, but used to stain clothing. Very effective for bruising but the Hirudoid has no smell and no stain.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Back on track

Hi all

I started again last monday and have weighed in this morning with a 1.6kg loss.
It's a nice thought to know I will be done by Xmas if I continue at this rate. Yay!!!!

Do you know what two things I find the hardest...... the no drinking rule and weekends. I am not a huge drinker, but I struggle heading to bbqs and dinners and catch ups without having a couple of token drinks. And also... weekends kill me. My meal times are all up the spout and I want to eat everything yummy.... But... it won't be long and it's over. Am still mad at myself that I started in may, fell off the wagon... and still going. Humph!

Congrats to everyone doing SO well. It is unreal!!!

Thanks to everyone for sharing all their stories... it's wonderful to hear them all, and very inspiring.

Cheers for now.

Tania

Hi All,

SoontobeSkinny - Thank you for your encouragement. I WILL get there just not as quickly as I had hoped. But I have no intention of not finishing. I constantly put too higher expectations on things! And I mean everything! I wanted it all to happen yesterday - you know what I mean!

My first month loss was 8 kilos - so right on 2 kilos a week which is fantastic. I was very happy with this. My second month loss was only 5 kilos. (I don't want to infuriate those who I have already put through this on previous posts!) But I just can't get over it! It's a classic case of the heart ruling the head. I know that your body will always lose most weight in the beginning and then it slows down and whilst it still burns fat (which is excellent) it wont happen in those drastic proportions again. It's just trying to convince my emotional side that this is the situation so just keep going and results will be mine very soon!

Blah, blah blah! Sorry to go on! I think we all have that underlying knowledge that Xmas is just around the corner and we all know the huge temptations that come with it. Not to mention work parties, family gatherings and holidays. I just have to keep the self talk up and as you have all said stay positive. We can all get through this together! Thank God you're here!

Cheers.

Hi Tania,
I find sparkling water a good substitute for alcohol at parties/ functions.... I guess it looks a bit like champagne and not so much like soft drink, and I find people don't comment on me not drinking that much. I personally don't miss it, but I work with people who drink a lot and find not drinking a strange thing.... so the sparkling water has worked better than either just plain water or soft drink

[BLessfatty...I've been told by some of the people that lost the most each month that going exactly by the diet and not mixing or eating food during any other time of the day than what is on the schedule you will lose or can lose up to 20k per month, this is the mid point of weight loss, so I am sticking to this diet by the letter, gram, litre or exactly what it calls for during the day and especially the 5 hours between eating because this is the most important part. Good luck to you and I hope you lose your weight..
Take care everyone and hope all have had a good weekend.
CAP @Bribie

Hi,
I've never heard of anyone losing 20kg a month. I think you are expected to lose between 6 and 12kg in the month, and I think after the first month, 4-8 is probably more realistic, even if you are following the program to the T.
I think its important to have realistic expectations, otherwise you'll get depressed when you don't get there. Those who are the largest will lose the most weight, and the smaller you get generally the weight loss will slow, although the percentage of weight lost each week may be the same.

Does any one take psyllium husks or whatever we're allowed? I have never had them before and wonder if I should get onto them.

Hi Everyone,
Well I weighed in at my heaviest this morning. 70.4kg. So glad I am back on this diet. Have spent the day preparing some meals - boy does that make it easier. The last time I was on the diet I was cooking around 35 different meals a week for my family and trying to work, study etc....hopefully I won't have to do that this time.

Struggled through salad for lunch - as it was before I am not used to eating such big meals. Will have soup for dinner tonight. Can't wait!

Hope you all had a good day.

Wanting and thinking of food!!!

Hello all,

Having a pretty difficult day today. Day 21 and feeling hungry and cant seem to stop thinking about food. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to overcome these difficult times? Havent had it so bad till today.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!:(

Does any one take psyllium husks or whatever we're allowed? I have never had them before and wonder if I should get onto them.

I find taking fibre helps keep things moving along - in more ways than one!! I really notice a slowing down of my weight loss when I don't take it. I use a soluble fibre.

Louise - I take 'dieters tea' rather than psyllium husks, as i cant stomach the texture of psyllium husks, its pretty much what the unflavoured metamucil is. Without telling too much info (ok maybe its too much but im going to say anyway) i was really 'clogged up', had some dieters tea at night and was 'unclogged' in the morning and also 1.5kg lighter....sooo i was quite clogged

wildskyz - keep up the awesome work! dont they say something like it takes 21 days to break bad habits and things get heaps easier from there....the first few weeks i also obsessed and couldnt stop thiking about foods i couldnt have - even foods i didnt necessarily like to eat even when not on a diet, it was really weird, its like as soon as your not allowed womething you want it. Try some fruit in lemonade for some sweet punch, i like mango and kiwi fruit, it makes me feel like im having a nice sweet dessert treat. Also I freeze fanta zero and diet solo for icipoles, with fruit in them for hot days....I assure you things get better, gradually you just sometimes even find yourself forgetting about food. The best memory I have is when I actually felt full half way through my mango serve for the day, and ended up putting the mango back - i cant remember ever putting food back because i was full so that was a really liberating experience. Keep up the fabulous work mate

Argh i didnt receive the email when it was supposedly sent to me and so have been eating paradise lites vive for a month without knowing theyre not allowed anymore...but how exciting is it that we can have salada now

guys can I just say youre all rad and doing wonderfully

Jools,

It looks as though you're using the wrong code, you need to be copying and pasteing the code marked "BB Code", it's under the example ticker when you change/make a ticker. (It looks like you're trying to use the 'HTML code'. This would be the one to use in a webpage, for example, but not in a forum).

Also, there's no need to do a new post every time you want to see if your signature works. When you are in the signature page, you can 'preview' and if that works, then it'll work in the forums (once you save it), however, EVERY time you change your signature it changes EVERY one of your posts, past and future, so, if you've ever made ONE post, you can just refresh that page and check your ticker.

This is why, I've said before, it doesn't work to just run in and say 'ticker change' as a way of reporting a new weight, because next time you change your signature, that ticker changes too! (not that you did this, just as a general comment.)

asy :D

Hello Everyone

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

I had an ok one. However, i was still really hungry on the weekend and could not wait to eat.... i think that i am in the process of stabilising. It was really odd.

But i got through it.
Today is the start of my third week on Cohens. Not sure how the weightloss is going, but i am miles away from seeing the difference. With over 40kegs to lose..... i should not expect much.

I am hopeful that when i go in for my first weigh in there is a huge loss. I am hoping it is 10kg. I know that is hopeful, but it would really affirm this whole experience and make it more bearable. It is really funny because i actually lost alot of weight some 3 years ago. I got down to about 75kg.... then i put it all back on . Actually i put on 30kg which is massive. Huge regrets...

Moving on, my consultant told me that old weight takes a lot longer to burn off than new weight.... she thinks that i could get to 75kgs alot faster than usual because it has not been there long. I think she is just pissing in my pocket.... hehehehe.

The repeat blood test... can you do then 3 days before they are due? I have to fly out to Perth and can not do them on the date due? Does it make a difference?

By the way... has anyone being on Cohens for 3 weeks? I would love to talk to you to compare experiences more closely.....

Ok, better go..
Take care all and have a great week!

1st Weigh In

Hi everyone,
I'm just doing my ticker update. Thanks ASYOZ for your words of encouragement, they definatley got my head back into the right place. I had my first weigh in today and considering that it is that time in my cycle I didn't do too badly! 7.5kg loss and I'm pretty wrapped about it. :) For years I have been trying to lose weigh, from a million differnt programs and I could never get under the 77kg mark. So today was a good day!!!
Happy dinners everyone!

Never give up on a dream just because of the length of time it will take to accomplish it. The time will pass anyway
