Hi Mel great to put a name to a face good job putting your picture in. My 11 yr old just said Mum you'll never beable to put your picture up, when I find a recent picture I will put mine up to. Well done on your weightloss to date!! I am so glad they have bought out caffeine free diet coke in the can about time.

Hey Sammy dont stress about the dinners you have to have out just try and eat as much to plan as you can while having to attend them.

I was just reading the sureslim thread and gee they have alot of variety in their food range, I know a couple of people who've tried it and the weightloss seems to be alot slower and its costs more.

Ive bought myself an early xmas present I was watching the TVSN channel i think its called and they were selling treadmills I couldnt resist plus the deal is 10 part payments of $89 per month what a steal, now ive got an exercise bike, elliptical trainer and a treadmill on its way my own little gym problem is my family room is now the gym ha ha. Well my daughter Kasey loves playing on them too.

Another day over hope Kim and Carolyn have been good today Im on your case you girls! Whats happening with our get together??
Talk tomorrow everyone!:) PS DONT LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR GOALS

Hiya everybody!:)

What a great idea to share our Christmas goals!

A couple of weeks ago I would've settled for feeling comfortable in my clothes, which had become a bit snug...
But after sitting through the Cohen meeting and learning expected loss and already seeing results, I've had to upgrade my goals;)

Quite frankly I havent worn a swimsuit in front of my family (or anyone really) in a very long time, for fear of the dreaded comments and judgement from my mother. I think maybe this is the year....

My weight loss goal is 13kg total, so if i can lose 7 or 8kg by Christmas I think I can be brave enough to don the swimsuit. I probably also need a self esteem overhaul to do this but I believe the weightloss might be just the ticket;)

Been reading everyones posts about ketosis and I have a question for those of you who test for it with the stix: While on Cohen's have you ever been out of ketosis and if so what do you do?

Nat:)

Hi everyone. So many posts in the last couple of days - it's fantastic! The refeed is going really well. Tomorrow is the second half of the refeed where I don't have to wait 5 hours befween meals, add the "bad" proteins and combine my proteins or swap them, have 50ml of skim milk in exchange for 40gm "good" protein and have 50gm cooked rice, pasta, potato, pumpkin and carrot. I'm a bit scared of this second half but really excited at the same time! I'm going to have my first glass of wine on Saturday which I can't wait for!!!

Divinemissnat, sounds like you're getting into the swing of things. 2kg down in 3 days is great!

Cryss, how exciting to have to give your seatbelt extender back! A typical food day for me before I started the refeed was yoghurt with half an apple chopped up in it for breakfast, cheese and salad on 2 Paradise Lites for lunch, 2 Paradise Lites on the drive home from work around 5.30ish, and then chicken and vegetables with some curry powder for dinner.

Myshy, I had the same problem with weight coming off in different places. My bust was the first, then my hips, then my waist, then my thighs and then, at long last, my arms! Soooooo frustrating! But don't worry, it does come off everywhere eventually.

Moni, 16kg in a month is a huge loss - well done! I imagine fantastic results like that will keep you motivated to keep on going.

Healthymum, Secret Santa is a lovely idea. I'll send you an email.

Sammy, as long as you make sensible selections when you have to eat out, and try to guestimate how much of it you should eat, you should be fine.

Mel, it's the best feeling when you're clothes are hanging off you. Bet you're feeling great!

All in all, it sounds like everyone is doing wonderfully well, especially considering this time of year where it's a neverending stream of invitations to drinks and parties!

Congratulations everyone! You'll all have to go out and buy new outfits to wear for Christmas Day! :D

Mel- you must be loving that your clothes are getting baggy! You'll need to go shopping soon by the sound of it:) Thanks also for the heads up on the baked apple recipe- i cant wait to try it!

Thanks also to Joysey- the mini pizza recipe is YUMMY!!!:p

Greetings girls!

Chez the 5 hour rule? I got it! the sticking to the eating plan to a tee? I got it! drinking 3 litres of water a day! I don't got it!. I can't seem to get through them, I know it is impeding my Ketosis! which way do I go, lot's of smaller bottles or 3 whoppers? Also Chez, how do you go with all your exercise? doesn't it make you hungry?

Kim The belt extender for me is a real breakthrough, I have travelled O/S and Interstate about 10 times in the last 2 years, this is the first time I've done it without the aide of the extender! Once I weigh in at Cohen, I'm going to weigh in at home, calculate the difference (scales always vary) and then maybe post a daily weight, It becomes addicitve and such a strong driver. I didn't measure myself though, do you think that really matters, given I can feel it in my clothes?

Sammy Hang in there and try and stick to the plan for the other meals in your week, even just try and eat things that are part of the plan just not weighed, I recently had to go for dinner, I asked for a grilled piece of steak and salad, dressing on the side, I looked at the steak, cut it in half, popped it on the boyfriends plate, and I didn't skip a beat, and not a blip on the diet/weightloss. It's just a case of being creative, and as for not taking your own food, well my friends know I'm on this plan and cook a smaller special something for me, I save my vitawheats for pre dinner snacks when everyone else is eating chips and dips! stick some in your pocket!

Mel Thanks so much for the Prawn recipe, I can't wait to try it. I tried the Salt and Pepper Squid on the website and the Beef Goulash, both were great, I haven't ventured down the cooking with sprite. Also can anyone recommend a Yogurt that doesn't taste like Tzaziki without the garlic and cucumber?

Moni certainly last but not least 16KG in one month! oh my god! I cried in the clinic when I lost 11kg you must have pee'd your pants! excellent work! I would love to keep in touch as it sounds like you and I are about the same size with the same amount to lose. cryss1@bigpond.com I'll email you later, maybe we could swap pics, I'm also setting up a website of my journey through pictures and some small diary comments, I'm calling it from Flab to Fab!

Also I'm not sure if anyone has been watching it (yeah sure WE ALL HAVE!!) The Biggest Loser, we can't follow the eating plan, but take a look on their website if you haven't already and check out the before and after pictures. If you ever feel like falling off the wagon, check all the viewer before and after pics, really motivating!

well that's me for the night, hopefully in Ketosis tomorrow!

Cohen's lifestyle

Hi everyone,

It's great to read that everyone is doing so well. Just a short note to keep in touch as I had just written quite a long post, and obviously the gremlins in the computer didn't like it, as it disappeared as I was submitting the post. :(

Have been very busy at work that I forget my full water bottle is sitting on my desk and as a result I forget to drink any water!!!

Moni - congratulations on your weightloss in 1 month. That's fantastic and you should be very proud of achieving this. We are proud of you. :) I also have about 60 kgs to lose and you inspire me to get moving again as I have been on this program since early this year and keep going off track. I know I shouldn't go off track, but somehow it gets into my mouth and my hands compete with my head. Seems my hands always win.

Healthy mum - I will email you separately re the Canberra meeting.

Imr - congratulations on your success for weightloss and the refeed. You must look and feel fantastic. Enjoy all the compliments as you have worked so hard to get to this stage.

Cheers to all and keep on being happy losers. ;)

Hi Everyone,
Well I had a function to go to tonight. Not a hint of Cohens anywhere!
I had deliberately not eaten my evening meal before I went thinking that I could improvise.
I was presented with an antipasto platter and heaps of bread!!!
I managed by only eating the fresh cherry tomato stuffed with fetta (yummy) but as usual I couldn't help myself and ended up eating about 8 of them.
I also had half a glass of wine. I couldn't resist as this wine hasn't been released to the public yet....I thik I got tipsy!! I think my body went into shock.
I'm due for a weigh in tommorow. No doubt I will pay, but sometimes you just can't stick to the diet.

LMR - Are you still having to be strict on the weighing of your foods? If so, how long does that go on for?

Kayseysmum - Ketostix must have shot up in price! Its been a quite a while since I bought them. Sorry if everyone rushed out to buy them thinking they were $6.

Cryss - I am a Biggest Loser fan. I tape every episode! Dr Jeff was my fav this time around.

I have also started going for walks again. I was doing the "10,000" steps a day, but slackened off when it was exam time. This coincided with me starting Cohens and they said not to start again, but I think enough time has passed and I am keen to tone up a little. I don't have enough time for a gym workout and this gives me and the dog some exercise!

Hope everyone is well.

Myshy :)

Hi everyone
because I had the bad day on Monday I am behind in my weight loss! I don't know why we fall off the wagon! Anyway I will get on track again!!
When my trousers were falling off, I went to the 2nd hand stores to get more, and then when they fall off you donate the others and buy more :) I have to donate another pair that fell of YESTERDAY!!! So the scales aren't going down but the tape measure is :) :)
I did go to some real shops last weekend but was not game enough to try things on :( I suppose I will over come that one day??
Any way keep up the good work :)
Carolyn

Ketosis - I'm home!

Girls I'm officially in Ketosis!

trace only, but I'm here!

everyone have a great day! for those who have fallen off the wagon, get back on, one or two meals off isn't the end of the world! so you might have to Cohen it for an extra week or so at the end? this is for the rest of your life you are working towards, don't let everything you have accomplished to date go to waste or your waist!

talk to you through the day :D

Hello everyone!! Ive just come home from shopping with a defiant 2 yr old who insisted on me buying this hobby horse you know the one with the wheels my 30 minute shopping trip turned into an hour and a half cos she rode the bloody thing the whole way. But we did manage to get her photo with santa and they were brilliant printed on the spot and all.

Cryss, about the exercise I tried to do the bike yesterday and felt like I didnt have the energy for it I always exercise in the afternoon cos if i do it in the morning it makes me hungry all day. So when my treadmill arrives any day now I will just walk on that for half an hour everyday. I will get into the exercise when at refeed level.

Hey Casey are you there yet? Let us know how you go.Today im 92.1kg and have noticed the weightloss per day is slowing but thats normal. I'll be happy if I lose a kilo every two or three days at the moment a loss is a loss fat gone forever.

Still havent had lunch so better get off and make some, I still think having brekky early in the day might be a good thing, I last ate at 6.45am and its now 1.20pm and not hungry Yay for ketosis. If anyone is using ketostix how much did it cost them cos im wondering if I can get any cheaper than $17 Keep focused everyone and drink drink drink. Talk later Chez;)

Hi Everyone,
I had my weigh in today. 65kgs by my scales and 68.2 by Cohens.
Total centemitres lost 42.
I am only going by my scales because Cohens never weighed me to begin with. I have a set of scales that weigh in 100gm lots on layby and will go by that set when I get them.

The consultant said today, that although my weight loss is slow, I am losing inches and reshaping my body. From my point of view - the weight loss may be slow, but at least I am losing. What is an extra few weeks compared to a lifetime? I am very stressed at the moment with exam results due tommorow night. Being stressed apparently slows down weight loss, so hopefully if my results are good that should ease some of the stress.

I left the house today in a short sleeved t-shirt. I haven't done that in over 10 years.

I will have a look around and let you know about the Ketostix.

Kayseysmum - I just laughed and laughed when I read your post. Don't you love 2 yr olds.

Happy losing girls!

Myshy :)

Well done everyone, and those whom have fallen off the wagon, get straight back on :)
Well i am here and should have started today, but decided to research my booklet and shop today and tommorow is the day :) at last.
I think thats its great that we are all telling our goals for christmas, my goal is just to loose what i can before then, survive christmas and get into a routine of weighing, and drinking water. Has any one else found it hard to find diet caffine free coke in a can ????
as I know so much about you all and as incentive to lose the weight I will tell you about my self, I am 25 yeard old and have had weight probs since birth :) and have never known my self thin, the weight has never really been a problem Iam still fairly outgoing but it is a problem when, i go shopping, sit in an aeroplane (WELL DONE CRYSS) you all know what its like, So after trying what seems like thousands of diets I am now as of tommorw doing this. I currently weigh 152kg (Shock, horror) and my goal is 71-74KG, bring it on !!! Looking forward to tommorow, let you all know how i survive - CASEY

Casey,
You can get the CF Diet Coke usually in larger Safeways, but it is only sold in 6 packs and 18 packs as far as I know. Other than that you can buy it in bottles.

I really want to pick and eat bad things tonight:eek: (pre-menstrual...)

What I wouldn't give for a cup of milky tea and biscuits to dunk...:(

Happy Birthday Moni

Hi Everyone,

Myshy

NEWS BULLETIN : The Devil lives in Milky Tea and Biscuits!!

I know it's unbelievable! But it's true, recently in the far eastern side of lesser known western low country, a trace of the devil was found in a number of seemingly mundane food items, girls I have listed them below for your safety and the safety of any chubby loved ones.
Please see the list below, and for your own sake stay away ... I'd hate to see someone get hurt by one of these nasty creatures.

1. Bread (looks so innocent as a cucumber sandwich, however I was always suspicious of the BLT, blinded by the filling, you don’t realise you are eating evil)
2. Rice ( they travel in packs, you often find hundreds of them, just laying there, dormant, on their side, pretending they are dead, then you eat them and whammo! GI through the roof!)
3. Pasta (never ever ever trust an Italian with pale blue eyes! And that’s all I have to say about Pasta)
4. Potatoes (who would have through the humble spud  )
5. Custard (sneaky yellow sweet stuff, slips it's way into a bowl of cake and your a gonna!)
6. Bacon (the evil dirty pig )
7. The majority of things that a cow makes! (check before you consume)
8. Chocolate ( all these years I have entrusted it with my most private thoughts and problems!!!)
9. Beer, Wine, Spirits (all fruits of the devil)

And the one I couldn't believe, astonishment, I can only thank my lucky stars that Tea was never really my "cup of tea" ... but here it is, the most evil, most dangerous, wanted in more countries than the cure for the common cold!
10. Milky Tea and Biscuits! (look away now before we all burn for even reading the words!)

girls I hope this post doesn't alarm you, I hope you all realise it's done out of love for you and hatred for the fruits of the devil!

Hang in there Nat, make it a challenge to see how you can beat these cravings, I have searched on the net for "things to do when you are bored" or "things to do to stop you eating" got some interesting lists back.

Just find something to take your mind off the snack, or better still go lay down, read and maybe have an early night.

talk to you all tomorrow 4 days to the next weigh in, and I'm ready for it!

night night:D

Cryss- you made me laugh so much!!!:D

Its all ok- I didnt give in to temptation...
Couldn't anyway, there's no milk or biscuits in the house. I live alone so there are very few blacklisted items in the cupboard. To those of you who have partners or children I take my hat off to you for sticking to the diet while those around you can eat whatever they like.

I figure I was either bored or wanting comfort. Had a glass of diet sprite (for something sweet) and actually did something I haven't done in a long time. I took time to relax. Got so into it in fact that I fell asleep on the couch. Bliss!

Well, me thinks its time for bed. Nighty night all.
Happy losing! (oooh- just remembered Biggest Loser finale is on tomorrow night! Cant wait!)
Nat:)
