Hello fellow losers.

Just curious, at what stage in your weight loss did you actually feel a difference in your body? I still cant see or feel a difference, apart from noticing my collarbone lol:p. My main problem area is my tummy and i am yet to notice a change with it, it still feels and looks so heavy and pudgy and bloaty. So, my question is: How long into the program did you look at yourself and say "wow, i can see and feel a difference"?

I noticed a difference fairly quickly - but I did lose 5kg in the first week, so that helped! Others noticed a difference after about 10-15 kg.
I lost weight first in my face, then bust and my hips and tummy are always a bit behind the rest. It probably took 2-3 months to notice a significant difference there. But my hips have always been at least one size bigger than my bust.
Interestingly, as I have posted recently, my weight loss has slowed, but my shrinkage has increased - so people are noticed more change now, even when my weight doesn't change alot.
I can definitely feel a huge difference. I now have bones! I keep feeling the ribs/ collarbone , cause it feels so strange. Now I can feel my pelvis as well.... wierd!
I think the key is to enjoy the weight loss that you are feeling now, and not to get too stressed about what's still to come - it will happen!! Focus on the changes in your face and upper body and give your tummy some time to catch up.

you have had an incredible journey so far! you must feel amazing! I am also at 85kg and I keep doing the same thing, feeling my ribs especially! 32.5 kgs is amazing! you should be so proud!

Ichooselife-I am in the same boat as you, its just too hard to stick to Cohens 100% this silly season, but sticking to the guidelines and watching urself as to not put on weight is definetely the way to go. I actually am looking forward to after xmas when I will be able to start again full force and start seeing myself shrink again!

take care everyone

Hi Everyone

How is everyone doing? Ive notice everyone seems to be on a positive note which is wonderful to see. I had an exhausting weekend. It was my son's 18th on Saturday and I prepared all the food myself. Bought the cake as I didnt want to tempt fate at preparing it and wanting to lick the spoon.

Didnt even get tempted for a brief moment at all. Served all the goodies up to all 50 guests and didnt even lick my finger when I got cream off the cake on it. Pretty darn good, I think!!!!!!!:D

No deviations at all for me over Christmas. We are polish and celebrate Chrissy on Christmas Eve so thats not going to be a problem as we eat fish for dinner. Dont ask me why, but its tradition. Then I go to my ex-mother-in-laws for Christmas lunch. Was thinking that might be another temptation, but after surviving the birthday party and preparing it all myself, I know Chrissy Day will NOT be an issue. Personally for me, I want to achieve my goal more than anything and this is the only way I will do it. Otherwise, if I do deviate, I dont know if I will be strong enough to get back on Cohens 100%, and that prospect scares the c*#p out of me.

My motivation is so strong, that I dont want to, or cant afford to risk losing it. It has taken me too many years to finally find it.

I hope everyone is feeling great and healthy and more than anything, much lighter.

Way to go fellow Cohenites!!! We should all be sooooooooo proud of ourselves and our achievements.:)

One last thing. Im due for my 3rd blood test on Christmas Day. Obviously thats not going to happen as nothing is open. Would I be best to have the test Friday before its due, or Wednesday after its due? I know I only need to call my consultant to find out, but just thought Id put it to you who have been on Cohens for a while and see what you advise.

Take care all and keep up the lighter work!!!!!!!!!:p

Cheers

P.S. Week 12 weigh in on Christmas Day so will be updating my ticker and goal accomplishments then.

Hi Wildskyz

I am due for my 3rd bloodtest on Boxing Day and my consultant told me to go the day after. Hope that helps.

To all the people that havent deviated before and plan to at Christmas. My advice is to be very careful not to go ballistic because it is very hard to get back on track. Personal experience. And I didnt really go crazy.
cheers.

Started Cohen's 2nd Oct 2006

Hello All!!

Living it you go girl, well done on losing 20.8kg! thats awesome!:D

Fat cat i think you can loose 20 kg in 3 months but remember every one is different so don't be upset if you don't quite reach that goal - your loss also depends on your starting weight and how much you need to loose.
i have lost 19.9 kg in 11 weeks - so i can say yes it is possible to loose 20kg in 3 months!!

Heavenlylamb i kjnow what you mean about feeling and finding hips and ribs!! My other half made a comment about how it was like sleeping with a different person 'cause my body had changed soooo much and was heaps smaller. he said he had to get to know my body all over again!

Wildskyz as we both started on the same day our weigh in's are at the same time. I'm going to go on friday as i figure that the blood-takers will be most likely to be open then. (also if you are planning to deviate a little bit on xmas day then your test won't show a deviation!;) )

Well, i have been overseas since i last posted (which was PAGES AGO!!) and was a very very good girl untill i had dinner with my grandparents (DOH!) it was one of those family things....i was not impressed that i deviated for the first time and that i didn't really have a choice...especially as i was doing it for someone elses benefit and my downfall..... however i did drink lots and lots of water and still managed to lose 1/2 a kg while i was away (i am sure though that if that dinner had never happened it would have been a 2kg loss:( ).
I have also been to lots of christmas functions, and made the decision to drink red wine at one of them (still ate all cohen's food, drank heaps of water etc) I had 1.5 glasses and was drunk! ( i did however consume a total of 6 glasses of red wine throughout the entire very, very, late night) Can i let every one know for future record that the hang over the next day was HORRIFIC! i have never really had bad hangovers before - unless i have drunk myself past the point of no return (which i might add has only been 3 times). I felt really really sick, smells and movement made me want to vomit, my body ached, and i felt really ehausted.
NOT RECOMMENDED!

I have got that out of my system and am now back on the straight and narrow, knowing that i have set myself back for oh, probably 2 weeks is a bit upsetting, but time to move on and focus on the future.

I am now a size 14, top and bottom in all makes. i have had to buy all new bra's as mine do not fit whatsoever.
People are commenting constantly about how fantastic i look, which is great, however the people who assume that it's just been an attitude change (-oh look she's now serious about not being a fatty) and cutting out junk food, they REALLY piss me off.
Pre Cohen's i was at the gym 3 times a week, and was also eating right. - i never went through detox with Cohen's as the food is similar to what i eat any way. My body just did NOT want to give up the fat, although i do know that my work/lifestyle and eating out alot at resturants/pubs thawted my weight loss progress.

Sorry about the long post, hope everyone has a wonderfull day and melts away!

Thanks ichooselife!

I saw a photo of myself in a magazine yesterday, i never thought i was EVER that fat!!! it's funny how twisted self perception can become.
I am starting to feel really proud about my 20kg loss, however i need to forget about it and focus on the loss i have in front of me - 25 kg.
i am even thinking of changing my ticker so that the starting weight is 83kg and the finish weight is 58kg. Any suggestions??

Nans68

I don't have any other tips except that I don't deviate for one moment and I always (except on 3 occassions when I was out) weigh my food to the exact gram.

Keep up the good work

Brieziel

I wouldn't change your ticker. It is great to see how much you have lost since the start. It should inspire you also to see that.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all

Hi, first post in the forum.

Started the 28th september 2006 but then had to go overseas for 3 weeks from 27th october. fortunately I didnt gain any weight while overseas despite completely breaking the diet (and stomping on the pieces) the sheer amount of walking every day and the unbearable heat and humidity must have kept me from gaining.

Jumped back onto the diet 19 november (day after i returned) and aside from one lapse during a staff party, been on it 100% since.

Start weight was 123.8kg, currently 99.4 kg and goal weight is 79kg. I'm past the halfway mark!!

I've been overweight all my life and nothing has ever worked. I am so glad i found this diet cos my doctor was spouting all this doom and gloom about my health but my latest tests with him have gotten him smiling. I'm off my cholesterol meds now they've improved so much!

At my current rate of weight loss, I think I've got another 2 and a half months to go before my refeed. IF I STICK TO IT 100%.

For all of you out there, Stick with it, it will be over soon and you'll never have to go back !!!

Hi LCP!! Welcome to the forum:) You have done sooo incredibly well - Fantastic Job Well Done!! I look forward to hearing all about you in coming weeks - Good luck with Christmas and keep shrinking!!

Congratulations - inspiring.

I loved the no deviation message

I had planned to blow the day but I too am over half way and worry if I be able to pick up again on boxing day and whether the extra time to refeed would be worth it but I try to do it one day at a time and enjoy the journey so Christmas is now going to be just another day closer to refeed - dream dream

Newbie

Hi everyone, I am brand new to this forum. I started Cohen's on 31 August 2006 at 103.9kg. In that time I went away on holiday for 4 weeks and totally deviated off the program  , and am now down to 88.4kg so a total loss of 15.5kg which isn't great considering the time been on the program, but it is better than nothing.

I am totally back on track now and haven't deviated in 2 weeks, but am dreading Christmas day, which is why I have searched out this forum for some support. I find reading about other peoples progress so motivational.

It is my goal not to deviate at all over Christmas, as I know from being on holiday how hard it is to get back on track afterwards.

Take care everyone

Hey everyone im just checkin in and seeing how everyones handling the days coming up to christmas!!!
oh i can tell you its been SOOOO hard living in my house this week..
My mum is a traditional polish lady and absolutely LOVES to cook (hence my obsession with all things food related) so all my life i have grown up with a full tummy and plenty of goodies in the fridge and pantry to keep my waist ever expanding :)

So as you can imagine a week leading up to christmas shes been in the kitchen 24/7 cooking, frying, basting, icing, baking and lathering in every flavour you could imagine (minus the MSG) hehe...omgsh the smells wafting day in and out have been absolutely AMAZING...so i have been at my wits end and proudly have not touched one single thing! :)

Also ive scored a bar job in the city at a place most my friends and i used to go to when i was a drunk party animal so now instead of filling my gullet with empty calories ill be serving those empty calories to them!
and instead of moping around ill be an an atmosphere i love with people i love and ill be gettting paid for it so i guess its a win win situation for me!

anywho hope everyones doing well! will touch base sometime next week so see your shrinking tickers!

xx

HELP - Christmas Overload Imminent

Tough day already hard to stay on track with all the food and drinking and festivities at work for breakfast leading upto the christmas morning tea spread and closely followed by the lunch barbie and drinks. Then out for dinner with freinds and a christmas/birthday/farewell party after dinner at 8.30 I am trying so hard to resist temptation but christmas is driving me crazy. I haven't felt so obsessed with food since pre-cohen's days and I was hoping I could chat with someone online as I am feeling weak weak weak. Maybe i will have a water and a chewy and leave the computer on in case some sees my plea for HELP!!!!!

Hey all. Just catching up with the posts for the week. Have just moved house and not been able to get online to get my fix of the forum. Unfortunately won't have broadband for a few weeks so going dial up and it is so slow when there is so much to catch up on. Not to worry.
Just wanted to say welcome to the newbies and well done for making this great choice that is Cohen's.
For those that are doing it tough over the Christmas season, don't sweat it, every day is full of temptations, if you deviate, don't beat yourself up over it, get on with it the next meal, or the next day, don't write the day off or even the program.
Love and Best Wishes to all
Lauren

Hi I have been reading this forum and am finding it very useful as I am on my third week of Cohens and lost five kilos in the first two weeks but have stopped losing for almost six days. Can anyone tell me why this is so. I am now 65kg need to get to around 58- 60kg.

Hi Tuz,
I think its pretty normal, particularly since you don't have so much weight to lose. I find I have periods of rapid weight loss, followed by slower weight loss and rapid centimetre loss. Have you done your measurements? You may find they are moving more quickly.
Hang in there and keep going, cause the rest of the weight will come off!

I have done my measurements but no change. When do yu think it will start to come off again. Not deviating at all.

Hi tuz

This is why it is suggested that weighing is done monthly (four weekly) and measuring is done weekly.

You have not yet completed one month on the program, but have already dropped five kilos!

I think that's pretty amazing, don't you?

Why not just wait until the four weeks is up before you weigh again - the body functions in long cycles, not short bursts. You probably have less 'available' fat than those of us with a higher starting weight / higher BMI / higher proportion of body fat had.

Just keep at it, and you will be very pleased with the results.

One of the main benefits of Cohen's rather than other programs is that this program is about readjusting the body, something not done just with weight loss.

Take is slowly and steadily and you will enjoy the results much longer.

Any mug can lose weight, but if it just goes straight back on again the program was not worth the effort.

This program is worth the effort, so hang in there and you will be on refeed in no time!

Cheers

Chelsea
