So I went to a "How to survive the silly season" talk at my cohens clinic last night and thought id share some insights that I learned with you all. So basically the talk was about minimising stress about eating, and deviations at christmas and if you do deviate or know your going to deviate, ways to minimise the damage ect.
So obviosuly the best choice is not to deviate but they said if one must have a glass of wine, have a bit of protein around 30 mins before it, this will help keep insulin levels down after having the alcohol.
The other thing that was said was to keep to cohens type food, but dont worry about measuring it neccesarily.....and IF you go somewhere and there is noooo cohens friendly type foods....stick to the one protein per meal plan, and choose vegies such as brocooli, carrots, leek, eggplant and ochre and fruits such as bluberries, pineapple and rockmelon....
and REALLY try to avoid: potatoes, pumpkin, beans, peas, corn, watermelon, strawberries, grapes or passionfruit
The other thing they said was, IF you do deviate.....it takes 3 - 5 days for the HGH and insulin and balance to come back after following the program 100% again, and so everything from obviosu cravings and yukky feelings that we all went thought when we fist started the program may be experienced again....as well as the old "i deveiated yesterday so it wont hurt to deviate again' syndrome, and the cravings where you sort of stick something in your mouth without even neccessarily thinking bout it and then going "oh my gosh i cant beleive i did that".....soooooooo in the next few days at first sign of craving have some fruit from your allowance as this will even you out....
so thats the update
