coccyx fracture

HELP! I fell over 3 weeks ago and broke my coccyx. I have a foam ring but that doesnt work very well, it places too much pressure on my sacrum. When i'm lay on my back my sacrum aches after 15 minutes. Lying on my front is ok i suppose, its the comfiest position for me. When i lie on my sides i get really bad pain in my hips. I am in constant agony.
I try to walk for an hour to two hours a day to keep my fitness levels up. By the end of it the whole of the base of my spine throbs and feels really tight. I've been prescribed kapake and told to rest. I try to ice it when i can which helps.
Due to a previous injury in my lower back, (I fractured L2 and L3 June 2004) i am suffering with severe pain in my lumbar region, which is due to me overcompensating the lower back muscles because i can only sit down on half of my butt cheek.
Any help will be great!

Any one got a clue?

Well its been over two weeks and no one seems to have any advice.

The pain is still severe and i am not on any tablets now as they were making me really ill. I am exercising more now but find it hard. I go on the X Trainer and also train my upperbody. I usually like doing yoga but i need to refrain from that for a while until i can sit down without pain. I get a pain running through my right piriformis muscle when i walk on a gradient on the treadmill so ive stopped doing that. And i always stretch out my glutes after any exercise. The stabbing pain in my glute started 12 months b4 i fractured my coccyx but is more serious now. I also get a lot of referred pain in my right S.I. Joint and sometimes even higher up my spine inbetween my shoulder blades.

Has anyone ever fractured their coccyx and had referred pain like ive described here, cause a bit of good advice wont go a miss!

thanks

Thanks for that. Although, i have alredy checked those sites you posted and they didnt give me any additional knowledge to my problem. I suppose i am wanting a MIRACLE cure!!! Apparently though, it is best not to be active as the muscles can pull on the coccyx and make it worse.

I recently broke my coccyx and it didn't seem to be getting much better until i went to an orthopeodic which has really helped alot as they have been realligning it. I wouldnt recommend lifting as it can put strain on it even if you don't feel it whilst you are lifting.

Good luck:) :)
