Hey guys!

Thought i may as well start a diary since it seems a really good idea and im feeling so crap just now lol.

Started trying to lose weight just this tuesday past and have been doing really well! I'v lost 3lbs already so delighted with that. Boobed up last night though. This is my first saturday off work for i dont know how long so I went out on the razz last night. I just wanted some fun and thought I deserved it since I'd been a good girl all week. Ended up drinking alcopops!! Why?? I never usually drink alcopops even when I'm not trying to lose weight. Thats like the second worst thing next to cream liquer. AND I drunk a pint of beer which i don't usually do. Today I'v put back on a pound. (I admit I weigh myself every day lol, "just to see" if what i'm doing is making any difference).

On top of being hung over im in agony after doing an aerobics dvd with my sister. Well, no pain no gain huh! I know it will get easier with time though. My house is a mess and when I pry myself off of the couch to tidy im hobbling around like an old woman hehe. The only thing thats keeping me going is knowing that if I had stuck in when I'v dieted before I would have been slim over a year ago and probably toned and tanned and all the rest haha.

Well.. onwards and upwards! I really like this forum, your before during and after pictures and your advice, experiences and similar situations are what made me go from just 'thinking' about losing weight to actually 'trying' to lose weight. And its working! :D thank you!

How much weight do you want to lose? 45ish pounds

What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight? 6 months

How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)? Eat less of the bad stuff and more of the good stuff. Exercise more. Less alchohol.

Who or what can support you in reaching your goal? My sister Gael is trying to lose weight too so we'l keep each other going. This forum is a blessing too.

How realistic is your goal? I think it's pretty realistic

When will you start? I'v already started, 8th June to be precise


1. What is your current height and weight? 5'4 and 163lbs

2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be? 125lbs

3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now? 140lbs

4. Why do you want to lose weight? Self confidence definately! Have more energy, less tired all the time. Go clothes shopping and be able to look great in anything. Buy nice underwear (i'm a 38GG, most shops don't stock that size of bra, and if they do theyre usually big granny hammocks)

5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? Not anything specific. Would be nice to be slim for xmas parties

6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals? Cravings, lazyness, pasta addiction, burger king next to my work, full fat mayonnaise (rather have none at all than the low fat stuff, yuk), disliking of most fresh vegetables, nights out

7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem? I'm on the higher end of overweight on the height/weight chart. My BMI also indicates this. And also when I look in the mirror, it's plain to see.

8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Cut out fast food, limit eating white bread and pasta (i don't like wholemeal bread) Get more active and motivated because I am NOT. Love myself more and treat my body with respect instead of sabotaging it lol.

9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? When I was 21 I was 175lbs, I lost 20lbs in a couple of months by eating nothing apart from 1 meal a day (i could have anything i wanted).

10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? Eating only one meal a day is definately not a long term approach. I got bored, was always hungry, fed up, eventually gave in to cravings and forgot I was trying to lose weight.

11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? as above

12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? Probably not, i'm not very organised, and i'm forgetful, and actually can't be assed lol.

13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? Yeah I like cooking, I like experimenting and looking things up on the net and trying it.

14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? I'm pretty skint most of the time so once in a blue moon, usually italian or indian. I used to get alot of take aways or home deliveries

15. What are your three favorite foods? Pasta, Tuna mayo, cheese (not the mouldy stuff tho)

16. What are your three favorite restaurants? Light of Bengal, the Mangiatoia, Jimmy Chungs

17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? Eat less carbs, TRY and eat more vegetables, stop stuffing my face so much that you have to open your top button on your jeans afterwards

18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? Flat stomach, jawline visible, no bulges under my bra on my back, no hangy down thing under my chin, no overhangs/bulges over my jeans, no upper arm 6 inch spread when i have my arms down

19. Do you eat when you are not hungry? Yeah, I rarely went long enough without food to actually get proper hungry

20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? Yes, i would go to the shop and buy everything that I wanted to eat and try to eat it all

21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret? No

22. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? Not when I'm sad or nervous, but deffo when depressed and especially when bored

23. Do you eat as a reward? Not really, didn't feel like I had anything to reward myself for

24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? Yeah, I don't have a dining table

25. What do you normally eat for a meal? Pasta with tuna mayo mixed in, cheesy pasta (it comes in a box, pure processed powdered cheese)

27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? Used to do nothing, but now i'm starting out with aerobics dvds, will encompas more when the pain starts to ease

28. Where do you go for exercise? Living room. Sometimes I walk but I live in the middle of the city with hardly anywhere to go apart from streets

29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? Nothing lol

30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? daily and weekly: not wanting to feel tired all the time, weighing myself and seeing results, monthly: looking in the mirror and seeing results, Yearly: seeing before and after photos

31. Do you have rewards for certain goals? Being happy, self confident and energetic will be the best reward of all, MONEY CANT BUY! I will also stop smoking!!!!!
 
Don't worry too much about setbacks in your diet. What's done is done. The important thing is to get back into it as soon as possible without feeling guilty.

Hey thank you val :) I'ts always good to get advice from people who are actuall well on their way, you are doing sooo soo well! Right now I can only dream to accomplish what you have!

Well I thought I better update this since it's been a week since I started. Lost 2.8 pounds last week which is a bit disheartening as it just reminds me how long I have to go! I know it's my own fault because I had a bit of a blow out at the weekend and went off track for a couple of days. It has kick started me into going for it again though because I can't expect to see results if I don't keep trying. 2.8 is better than nothing! Even better than gaining!!!

My downfall at the moment is organisation. I work shifts so I can't make a routine as sometimes im on at 7am, sometimes I start at 3pm. I wasn't very healthy eating wise today. I had:

Southern fried chicken wrap which was about 450 cals
dairylea dunker which is roughly about 150 cals
2 rolo yoghurts 190 cals each
cup of tea with sweeteners and milk.. think its about 40 cals.

So.. about 1040 cals today, but mostly junk! It makes me gobsmacked that before I started this that would be a wee snack, i would still have had my breakfast, dinner and in-betweenies on top of that.. well over 2500 - 3000 cals i would bet!

Going to get my home made soup fired into a flask, throw some apples into a bag and take my oats and rasin cereal stuff to work tomorrow so I don't "fancy" anything. It works the times i did it last week!

Also did my workout dvd for the 4th time, it really does get easier! I'm not as stiff as a newly awaked egyptian mummy now lol. Well iv not managed to do the whole thing in a one-er yet but hey im only human.
 
Well done, 2 and a half pounds is excellent. You will be surprised how quickly the time goes by and all those pounds add up. I've only lost a pound in the last 2 weeks and really need to up the stakes to carry on losing. So close but so far!!!
