Hi Claire & welcome to the forum. It's good to see you getting around to the other diaries already. What would your normal day's eating look like? Do you normally have fresh vegetables & fruit? Are you vegetarian? Do you cook? Tell us a little more about your life & your plans so that we can get to "know" you better. The more you share the more input you will get. You can use your diary for venting or for voicing your ideas. It's your space.
Once again, a big welcome to you! Cheers, Cate.

Good idea, Cate. I live in the southern US and started medical residency this past summer. I want to get back into dieting in 2016, because I have gradually put on weight since going to medical school! I am overall pretty healthy. Last year, I was training for a marathon and ran 22 miles but got a stress fracture and had to quit. Lately, I mostly do yoga and the exercise bike. I did a month long boot camp and strict diet in June but actually gained three pounds. :flame: I think that I have lost a lot of muscle tone this fall, combined with less cardio and snacking at the hospital = gaining 10 pounds this year. On top of it, my boyfriend and I broke up around the holidays, leading to devil may care carb loading. :beerchug:

I read in one individual's post that it is more difficult to lose if you are already healthy, and I think that it might be the case for me. But I am highly motivated, and I think that I have thrown in the towel too quickly before after not seeing results. In this culture of fast rewards, instantaneous information and communication, we owe it to ourselves to be patient with our own bodies.

Day 2:

AM: Oatmeal w blueberries 200 cal, 2 glasses of water

Lunch: Sushi 400 cal?, 1 cup of coffee

Snack 130 PM: Kale chips 280 cal, 1 glass of water

Have already consumed a lot of calories and it is not even three!

Afternoon: 1 glass of water

Dinner: Chobani yogurt 242 calories, 2 clementines, seaweed salad~ 400 calories. 1 glass of water

Total calories: 1280

I don't know how I am going to get all the water in that I am supposed to. Would love to hear insight from others.

Hey Claire, another (belated) welcome to the forum! I don´t have a problem with drinking water but the most important thing I hear from others is having it on hand at all times (bottle, glass on desk). If you forget about drinking: set an alarm for every hour or so. Good luck on your journey :)
LaMa

Hi Claire.( I had guessed you were a student for some reason). I never used to drink much water, but am so used to it now that it's a rare thing for me not to drink at 2-3 litres a day. As LaMa said, have it front of you ALL the time. When you think about eating something, have a drink of water first. It's a habit. Once it's in there, you are right.

Better late than never. Been a busy couple of days

Day 3:
AM: Oatmeal

Lunch: PB&J

Afternoon: PB&J

Dinner: 2 eggs and buttered toast

Multiple clementines throughout the day

Very carb heavy day, but I did do weights!

Day 4:
AM: Oatmeal

Late Afternoon: Soup and falafel sandwich

Going to bed early after long exam. No gym for me today.

Multiple clementines again

Sounds like you´re having a stressful time (but I guess that´s to be expected), kudos for snacking on clementines instead of crap food.
