Christenhere's diary

Diet is HUGE!! It's been my biggest downfall. I work out 5-6 days a week and yet the weight stays put. It clearly is my food intake, alcohol intake, and salt consumption. I know this but yet I struggle w/making good choices. I'm a lot better that I was a year ago but I still have a long way to go!!

Good luck to you!

Same problem.... my salt intake is terrible.....and since I am so picky I seem to overload on carbs!

ok.. so today I feel pretty good like i am finally on track. It usually only takes me a few good workouts to get motivated and yesterday I had a good one! One hour of step aerobics, 1 hour of free weights bodyworks class and 15 minutes or so of abs.. I dont think it has all hit me yet cause i am not sore..

I think i really need to reevaluate my food intake or I am never going to lose weight.. I dont over eat but I just eat things that arent good for me. I wish I wasnt so picky so I would be able to eat a wider variety of foods. I mean i only like 4 vegetables so its not that easy to eat like I should! i get so sick of eating the same things everyday and give up.. I have to figure out a way to do it..

I want to go see a nutritionist and get like a meal plan! That would be sweet..
You know that I used to GO on JENNY CRAIG's site and there you could make a daily meal plan out of all of their YUMMY foods SUPPOSEDLY...i dunno ....NEVER tried it....buttttt,

THE reason I tell you this....is to get an IDEA of food and the combos of eating them, and MAKING them yourself, as a cheaper and HEALTHIER alternative...

....I remember there was a wide variety of proteins and good carbs, and SWEETS that you can have, and if you are making POOR choices LIKE WE ALL do :iagree: with just a COUPLE product changes made to the FOOD you are intaking, YOU will slowly START losing more, and changing dressings, and or salts, or ways of cooking foods......

MY mom and my STEP dad did just that.....JUST switching to WHOLE wheats, variety of LEANER protiens, still including carbs, a multi vitamin, walking 30 mins a day at night after dinner, and THROUGHOUT 6 months he lost 30lbs, and she lost 25lbs.......

....just a THOUGHT...:)

I've done Jenny Craig. Food is decent but over time you get sick of it. It's not a long term solution. LOL My counselor didn't really wean me off the foods like she was supposed to. Must be their way of having you buy the food each week. I lost 13lbs in about a year but gained 1/2 back right away when I went off. My 2 cents....

yeah I THINK their ULTIMATE goal is TO KEEP you ON the FOOD...or else...THE $$$ MULA stops.....

but it gives some kind of idea about portions i believe....never did it though

im gonna write out a list of all the foods i like.. ( yes there are few enough to list them on one page) and try to mix and match them and see what i can come up with!

let me tell you girl.... it was intense.. i danced so hard i had cramps the whole time and just kept on dancing..i sweat more than i do at the gym!

Great idea! I did that too, and ended up making some really good stuff. Kick some spartan bootay this week girls!

ok... so i completely fell off the band wagon this weekend! It is TOM and I usually am ok and have no symptoms or anything but this time I just wasn't feeling up to anything! It was also Ben's birthday yesterday so we were at his families house all day long. I didn't eat terribly but I got no exercise at all and I feel really bad about it.. I feel like crap today but I dont want to miss out on any weekday points if I can help it.. Hopefully I will feel better later this afternoon..

On a better note.. I got on the scale this morning expecting bad news since I was so lazy this weekend but somehow I lost 2 pounds?? I think 160 was my plateau.. Hopefully I finally broke it and keep going til 150.. I know from last year that is another plateau for me! But being in the 150's got me really excited.. I am pumped!

OOUUU!! I think it's so great that alot of us are so close in weight. It's great to shrink down together. Of course you got the height but pounds are pounds. I'm sure you are looking fabulous. My plateau seems to be 154-156...I need to break through this. This week is the week!!

Yeah.. i love that a lot of us are around 160.. It makes it fun to see who will drop it first! My next goal will be 155.. I haven't seen that number since last summer.. Then 150.. Haven't seen that since the summer before! 9 lbs doesn't seem that far away but dang why is it so hard?!

We can do it girl! Let's push each other :)

It's hard because we can't starve ourselves w/the level of activity in our lives. I don't know about you but when I finish a 2 hour intense workout my body is shaking and I HAVE TO EAT...right away at that. I have not found the balance though in calories in vs calories out. I'm sure I'm not eating clean enough after workouts...rather eating high calories foods and saying it's ok when it really isn't!!

Time for some change...re-thinking...and re-focusing :)

yeah i am super hungry after workouts.. i always eat a big bowl of veggies after a workout sometimes with a little whole wheat pasta..low in carbs but fills me up and i dont feel guilty about eating it.. than about an hour later i will eat some fruit or something..

Do you girls not eat meat? I find that a fist size portion of turkey/chicken/fish and a low GI carb are great post workout. Example: chiken breast and brown rice maybe w/ some steamed veggies. Think of your post workout meal as fuel for your muscles... you need protien.

i love meat! cant live without it.. i tried.. haha beans have a lot of protein and i try to only eat meat once a day which is at lunch time... so usually post workout i eat tons of beans!

Beans are great as well, I love the Margarita chicken at Chilis. Grilled chicken, beans, and rice.... so good and healthy.

I can understand limiting meat to once a day. I have meat at both lunch and dinner. I think they healthy fats and high protien in lean meats help more than they hurt.

Even black beans with wild & long grain rice, and some veggies or a side salad would give you a lot of the fiber/protien/carbs/vitamins that you need.

i have never heard of that margarita chicken before and was curious about the calories and such.. this is what i found..

that is a ton of sodium, fat, and carbs! Those restaurants are out to get us..

exactly the opposite of what i need for my diet :) was that a trick trying to sabotage me? JK :)

everyone is different and needs different types of food to sustain their body. I have actually found that for me. cutting down on meat (i used to eat 3 times a day) has given me much more energy. After researching a bit, there are tons of other ways to get protein.

like you said black beans are great. and i love rice :)

Great suggestions. I do need to start pre-planning my post-workout meals. Both of you sound like you got this down. I don't make an intentional effort to get in protein, just eat what looks good at that very moment. I need to change this asap!!

i have had a problem with that my whole life.. compulsive eating.. im not even hungry sometimes i just want to taste certain things.... lol!
