Firstly, does anyone even know the whole rationale of chiropractors i.e claiming pain is a direct result of blocked energy, similar to "chi" in acupuncture. Theres no evidence what so ever of thsi mysterious energy.
I have been to many and have never heard them claim something like that.
What they tend to do is get you to have at least 6 sessions (buy one get 4 free etc), claim to fix you and what really happens is time has fixed, not them.
Also never an experience I have had with a chiropractor.
My advice to the OP is to listen to people who have actually had experience with chiropractors.
A good chiropractor will be able to see imbalances in your spine as well as in your shoulders hips and other jounts.
A good chiropractor will be able to tell you what muscles need to be strengthened and what needs to be stretched.
A good chiropractor will then be able to give you input on exercises to stretch and strengthen what needs to be stretched or strengthened.
Like g8r80 said. There are limitations, like anything else. The right chiropractor can be very beneficial.
Like other professions. There are a lot of idiots out there. (just like personal training, physical therapy, general practitioners, etc.) So you may have to shop around a bit to find someone good. (just like personal training, physical therapy, general practitioners, etc.)
I find chiropractors can really help a LOT with injury prevention. A good one will catch little things happening and have solutions way before they become problems.
tonymcclellan stated that chiropractors are inexpensive. I agree. There is a huge benefit for the cost.
If you find a good combination chiropractor / massage therapist life is great. Especially if you get them to communicate well with each other.
