chest flys

if im doing chest flys on one side to even out my chest, is that a bad idea? and if not, should i really need to have a huge amount of extra protein intake?

if its a bad idea, why is it. i can really tell the difference between my 2 pecs

also, when i bench press i can feel my right side doing most of the work, ive tried putting more one weight on one side, but that seems pretty stupidly crazy to me, ive tried to move my left hand over more to take up more of the slack, but again pretty stupid. i dont want to injure my shoulders or nothing. ive been doing the flys and they seem to be making my left pec pretty sore, what i want.

would those be better than flys? would they isolate the chest more, cause actually i can feel it in my bicep too when im doing flys

im not an expert but i think that the flys won't get the entire chest but it might be a good idea to do both im not sure. just use separate weights and then you won't have the dependency on your dominant arm.

I concur with dumbell presses, they're one of the best exercises for the chest and much better than flyes for developing strength and mass. You shouldn't try to isolate your muscles, you'd make much better progress on multi-joint exercises.

like what? bench press?? if its bench press how would i make it to where me right chest isnt doing all the work, cause everyday after doing press i can feel how sore my right chest is and my left chest, if even sore isnt really sore at all. it seems like no matter what i do my right chest seems to always get sore, even when i try to use it as little as possible.

Im gonna go out on a limb and say your right handed. I have the same problem as you, but my problem lies in my right bicep being larger than my left. (by product of 10 years of bowling I believe) Train yourself to incorporate your left side more. It can be tough, but possible. Do some extra sets with a dumbell on the left side like the folks above suggested.

yeah ive been doing that beleive it or not, ive started brushing my teeth with my left hand, i thought of trying to write with my left hand, but yeah.... and anytime i notice im doing something with my right arm, like flexing it when im leaning on it or something, i try and switch. i dont know if its doing anything but, i guess it will help more than none. yeah and im sure my right side is bigger from growing up throwing the football, and shooting the basketball and throwing punches ( cough ).

oh yeah aevans, is that collin farrel in your little picture? im just wondering did he pump up or some **** cause, i saw the movie SWAT before i saw the movie phone booth, and i didnt even recognize him in phone booth.

Classic movie :D

Do dumbell bench press and unilateral movements to address your muscle imbalances and don't let your right side do more reps than your left.

unilateral movements??? i think i have in mind what that means, but please explain. instead of up and down do like horizontal? and i only got 15lb dumbells is that enough? i was trying to press them earlier today and i dont even think i felt my chest tighten

if you feel 15lbs is too light go to wal-mart or some thing and get some cheap ones that what i did got 2 20lbs for stand up flys (dont have a bench yet :p)

Unilateral movements involve training each side of the body usually with dumbells to get rid of muscle imbalances, work stabilising muscles and strengthen your core. Examples are dumbell bench press (use a dumbell in each hand), single arm rows, step ups, lunges, Turkish get ups etc.

If you dont have enough weight for the bench press, try push-ups, since it works many similar muscles. If you cant do a sufficient amount( say 10-15) try doing them with you knees on the floor. Gradually increase the distance of your knees to your torso and eventually you'll probably be able to do them on your toes. When doing the push-ups with chest intentions, do them with both elbows facing opposite directions ( if its triceps you want then do them with your elbows to your sides and facing back). Also if you understand a bit about the anatomy of the chest muscle then while doing the push-ups put your mind to feeling the chest muscles contracting and stretching.

lol anybody can do 15 pushups? so, if im poining my elbows out, does that mean i point my fingers intowards eachother? or still pointing them straight forward

keep your fingers each facing sway from each other. From my own personal experience this better allows you to have to balance your self more using your chest muscles, thus more work.
