Chest excercising at home (without equipment)

I can't get out to the gym at the moment, I've got a few things at home to keep me in shape though. The one thing I've noticed is after doing some excersise, I can feel my whole body has worked out, apart from my chest area, it just doesn't feel like I've done anything with it. Anyone got any tips for working out those pecks without equipment like heavy weights - I don't expect a miricle, I just want to make sure they get their fair share of the work out.

Thanks

John

welcome to the club, i have the same problem I work with dumbbells and I just couldnt work on my chest, the only exercise I know that you can work very good on your chest without a bench is push-ups, you can also do chin ups but its more lats-back work.
because I had this problem I bought yesterday a bench

Cheers for the reply mate, I would buy a bench but I don't have any room left!

Okay, well I'll get on with pushups, but any varients you'd suggest for targetting chest? Maybe legs up on a seat as you do push ups so it's harder or one handed?

Thanks John

Cheers Panman, but I don't know what a military press is, could you explain what I do with the dumbells in a military press please!

Thanks

John

You just lift the dumbbells in front of you, actually =) Like a shoulder press but holding your arms in front of you instead of beside you.

here it is demonstrated with a barbell, but you could achief more or less the same with dumbbells i think...

Excellant, thank you very all of you. I got some dumbells, 1.5/3/5 kg, I'll add this to my routine.

Cheers again

John

military presses will work your shoulders more than your chest/pecks. if you can get an bench that you can change the incline on, then you'll have more options. any incline over, i think, 30 degrees will only work your shoulders(military press).
try doing max sets of push ups with your hands close together, then do max sets with 'em shoulder width apart. also try push ups with your feet elevated. this exercise is great for your core muscles as well... make sure you keep your back straight and your head and neck nuetral. great work out for the abs!

dont do military press its not effective for the chest, military press works only on your shoulders and triceps.
and you can do push ups with a wide distance of your hand from each other (work your chest more) and you can do it when they are very close to each other (work your trrceps more but on your chest also)
the conclusion is : buy a bench

Okay sure; thanks guys.

like I said I have no room for any more equiment so I will start doing the pushups like you said. I'm not expecting anything major from these, I understand that it's not easy to excerise my chest without equipment, but I want to feel after a workout at home that I've worked on the chest. I reckon that doing the different types of pushups (close together, far apart and elevated). Thanks again.

Steve
