chanah's accountability

Hey everyone!

I'm starting my diary today; I need to stay accountable in order to succeed at my weight loss. I'm also hoping that any support I receive and give on this forum will help keep me motivated (reading others' has left me driven already, thanks!) Here's the starting info:

Start weight: 345 lbs
Goal weight: 150 lbs
Need to lose: 195 lbs

As far as goals go, I'm giving myself 3 years to lose all of it. I'd like to get into the 200's by the start of 2010. My first milestone will be 320 lbs, 25 lbs lost; I'm hoping to reach 320 by hallowe'en. I plan on starting small so I don't get overwhelmed and end up quitting; cutting out junk food (my worst habit is ordering-in food) and to drink lots of water. I'd also like to get in more walking. I actually love walking but I can never find the time :S

I have a major project to do tonight; I'm purging my house of junk food. My husband is also trying to lose weight so I'm sure he won't mind!

I'll be weighing myself every Thursday and hopefully I'll get to write a diary entry at least once a week. Thanks for listening :waving:

Hello Chanah! Welcome to the forums!!

Your goals sound very realistic! You've already made one of the hardest steps, putting yourself out there and starting this journey (and diary)!

As Fitforaking said, there is tons of useful information on these forums to help you a long the way, I find the Before & After section as well as diaries to be very motivational. I also find that the Clubs and Club Challenges on here help a lot for motivation and accountability.

I would recommend recording a food calendar on a site like fatsecret.com, sparkpeople.com or fitday.com, it will help you plan your calories and such out for the day, and they have a lot of other good tools on those sites as well.

I'll be checking back in on you, best of luck to you and your hubby!! You CAN do this!!! :D

Chanah,
Good luck to both you and your husband...that is great that you can do this thing together! You can be each other's support system and help each other thru the tough hurdles!
Looking forward to hearing about your progress!

My husband and I are both trying to lose weight too. We gained it together, so we figure we should lose it together..lol! Good luck!...we can do this!

Thanks everyone who responded and gave their support, it means a lot - especially at this stage!

As for me, I've was bad yesterday and it spilled into today :S

On Monday night I was proud of myself - I passed up pizza that was offered to me, instead I had whole wheat speghetti and veggies.

Then I went and blew it yesterday by having a bag of chips and a bowl of ice cream :S

I planned out what I was going to eat today but it didn't work, I ended up distracted and busy and ended up buying junk when I went out. I made up for it by having 3 small veggie fajita's on whole wheat tortilla's for dinner.

I want to try hard to not make my bad two days turn into a bad week - like I always do - and give it another go tomorrow.

So...my plan is to have corn flakes with blueberries for breakfast, salad and pea soup for lunch, trail mix for a snack and chicken and salad for dinner. Oh, and a lot more water, I need to cut out the diet coke.

Here's to a new day and a fresh start!

I'm not off to a great start, though I've seen some small changes made - not in my weight really, just my behaviour. I'm not being stupid about food (i.e. eating whatever and however much I want) and I've been walking more. I was able to go for a 45 minute walk on saturday and today I'm walking home from the dentist instead of taking the bus home - so that's another 45 minute walk.

I need to drink more water and work on eating just a little better. I have a horrible habit of snacking right now which I need to stop. Luckily it's been fresh fruit I've been snacking on, but I still need to stop the habit of snacking.

I just need to keep reminding myself that I can't change my bad habits overnight. Baby steps.
