Cha Cha's Diary

Hello all, I am a 25 yr old recent grad pursuing my masters degree. I decided that I wanted to loose about 30 pds by July/August. I started walking and jumping on the trampoline about 5 times a week. I decided to keep a diary because I hate to fail and if I put it out there I know I want. Anyway, I have been a healthy chik all my life. I can not remeber a time I was not fat. I have always been a size 18/20. I have been walking off and on for about a year and I went to the store yesterday and bought a pair of size 16 jeans. I do not think I have worn a 16 since middle school. I was very excited and thought about how good it would feel if I was a 14, 12,10. I want to hover around a 12/10 comfortably. I have watched shows like the biggest looser and celebrity weight loss and I see their extreme make overs and I want for once ppl to look at me and say you have lost a lot of weight instead have you being dieting you look smaller. I am not telling those around me that I am on such a diet but I would like some outside support. I am glad I can chart my progress on such a forum. I recently hit 197. I was sooo tired of being 200+ pds and when I seen 197 I smiled.

Realistically I want to loose as much as possible as quickly and as healthy as I can. I brought some weights because I am very top heavy. 38/40 DD and the dumb bells are helping me tighten up and firm. I drink plent of water not 8 glasses but anytime I am drinking it is water I am drinking. At this time I do not eat meat (personal and religious goal) but I do not consider myself a vegeterian because at anytime I may might a big hamburger (smile). But I am trying to eat healthy, & smarter. I want to acheive my goal and maintain through continued exercise and food control. Yesterday I walked 3 miles in 35 mins I have never done that I have been at 55-60 mins for so long that I kept second guessing the watch. I am trying so hard this time. I do not want to go into my thirties overweight and unhealthy. I will be 26 in October and I definitely want to be at least 30-50 pds lighter.

My goal is to loose 30 pouds by August 01. I want to loose about 2 pds a week (is that realistic) I watch the shows where they loose 5-7 pds a week and believe I should at least drop 2 a week. So here I am forum.Come talk to me, cheer me on and help me in this long and hard battle to become a slimmer, healthier more relaxed ME!

Thank you, I really need the support like I said I am not telling everyone because I don't want ppl to derail or interfer with my goals. So it is nice to go somewhere that I can get great support and advice. That is why I signed up here. From what I read it sounds very encouraging and ppl are actually loosing weight.

I weighted in yesterday sadly I have not lost a pound. But on good news I have been wearing 16/18 for about 6 years. I went to Target picked up a 16 pants last week and it fit great better than great I had room. The other day I wanted some gauchos at Penneys they only had a size 14 Petite. So I decided to put them on just because I wanted to see the lenght on them, would they be roomy etc,. Well...... they fit. I don't officially say that is my size but I can wear a 14. But why oh why is the weight still on. I am so confused it is like a catch 22.

Cha cha, in my experience the first 2-4 weeks are the hardest if you're using a combination of exercise and diet (which is the best way anways), because you are probably losing plenty of fat, but are gaining muscle weight. I have found that buying a tape measure (you can get them at the dollar store) is another good way to track progress because even if you aren't losing pounds, you are likely losing inches!

Also, 2lbs a week is a very reasonable goal, but don't give up if some weeks are only 1lb or you don't lose any at all! Just keep at it, and keep your eye on the prize (those size 10 pants!)

ChaCha, hey there.. congrats on those size 14 fitting!!! Girl that's great!! :) And don't stress about not seeing the scale budge! It WILL move eventually, but as Beagle said it can be a variety of reasons. I haven't seen mine move either, so I understand where you are coming from! But.. just remember you could be plateauing a bit and will get beyond it! :) Just enjoy how your clothes are fitting you better etc. THat's what we're all trying to do right? Fit into smaller things? :) so regardless of the scale, if they fit, they fit! :D

I know what you mean about the size 14 thing. My 'size' is a 16, but I can wear some 14s, mostly in skirts, but I do have a couple of size 14 slacks that I can wear comfortably.

Good job for what you've done so far! And good luck!

Thank You. It is good to know that I am not alone. I just thought by the fact I had hit a size 14 and in petites too that I was loosing pounds. I was in shock when the scale did not move.

I have been trying the healthy way to loose weight. I walk 5-6 times a week about 2-4 miles. I jump on the trampoline about 15 mins each day and I strenghthen with weights. (that is only because I am busty and I was told they help with loss) I try to stay between 12-1400 calories a day (healthy) fruits, vegetables ( I am right now a vegeterian, not because of dieting but because) so I was very disappointed!

Cha Cha, believe me I hear ya about the scale AND the size. LOL I wear "16"s but they wish I didn't! LOL You're doing good just keep attacking and you will get there. I agree with Beagle. Grab a tape measure. I had to start doing that as well. :D

Cha cha, you could actually be loosing weight without knowing it. If you're weight lifting, then you're probably building muscles (which, though smaller than fat, weighs more). So while you're taking away fat pounds, you're adding muscle pounds, staying at about the same weight but loosing inches.

I have been working out alot, walking, eating healthy and I weighed in on yesterday and I am 189 pds. I can remember when I was weighing in at 211, 213. So it brighten my day knowing that I was under 190 pds.

That's great! I bet you look fantastic! I'm a vegetarian also, but I do eat fish as a way to compromise with my husband. Maybe we can share notes or recipes! Keep up all of the good work! I'm here if you need support!
