Hello,
I've searched the forums extensively, and found some info, but nothing very specific, so I hope this isn't heard too often. Let me start by telling you about my physical activity: I'm 26, 5'10", 155lbs and fairly thin. I'm not looking to bulk up or to build massive strength, I'm just trying to put some physical activity into my computer-oriented life. I've been jogging about 2 miles M/W/F, and then doing some body-weight excercises (push-ups, crunches, leg excercises) after the jogging. I've been doing this for a little over 5 weeks (yeah, yeah, yeah, New Years resolution) in anticipation of joining the Coast Guard and having to go to boot camp.
My problem is my center chest. It's really boney. I know that vertically, between the belly-button and the chin, that there is no muscle there, but my muscle is non-existent from the center of my chest to my nipple. At my nipple, there is a "shelf" where I suddenly have muscle. Between my muscle and my chest (nipple to center-sternum), I can feel my ribs quite easily. This is both sides of my chest. A friend suggested that I have a bird, or pigeon, chest, but my chest isn't sunken, just skin and bone. Also, a doctor told me that is not the case but wouldn't give me any more information because he was too busy (thank you Canadian health care system).
Any ideas? I don't want to go to weights, I'd like to overcome this without having to go to the gym, BUT, I'll do what it takes to add muscle to my center chest. Any ideas or help would be great.
Thank you so much.
mike
