Ceelee's Diary

I am a 37 yr old mother of 4. I work and go to school from home so I am basically sitting on my rump most of the day. Here I am trying for the 100th time to lose this weight. It is no secret that being 5 foot 1 weighing 262 lbs is tremendously unhealthy. I am hoping that this time with this forum I will be able to understand that taking one day at a time will help me with my goal. I am hoping that I could get to 200 lbs. by my birthday in Aug. and 180lbs by next christmas. I have tried several diets including nutrisystem, Jenny Craig, Weight Watcher, Atkins, and my most recent failure LA Weightloss (PureWeightloss). I was most successful with Jenny Craig losing 25 lbs, but it got too expensive. Weight Watchers was the second best counting points was very easy. I wasn't too fond of the weigh ins. Seeing now it is offered on-line I have gone back and forth about doing WW. I want to lose but it just seems some days there isn't time to think about what I'm suppose to eat or plan what to eat the next day. I'm hoping that by keeping this diary and being able to interact with others I can finally finish what I am starting. I look forward to the extra support and words of encouragement. I hope to be able to assist others with their hurdles by sharing my experience. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am going to start WW tomorrow an see what happens.

Weight Watchers Day-1

The day didn't start bad I had a good breakfast, a small lunch but my main problem is it is almost 9 pm and I have not had dinner because I started picking after the kids got home. It takes so much energy to avoid those afternoon snacks. I admit I lost that battle today. Even so according to my points I still have just a little lest than half of my daily points remaining. How do I fit all those points by bedtime. I guess it may not be hard since my bedtime is never before 2am. I drank a lot of water today which is a plus since I'm not a fan. But I must continue. I hope tomorrow will be better.

Just out of curiosity, why are you avoiding afternoon snacks? It sounds like you've got plenty of points to go around, and if you're hungry in the afternoon, it makes sense to use them then. I try to get two afternoon snacks in most days, because otherwise I get really grumpy. (I will say, when I was heaviest, I did avoid afternoon snacks because starting snacking meant continuing snacking, and I'd run out of calories too long before bedtime. But I ate more-filling lunches then, too.)

FWIW, I lost nearly 60 pounds in 8 months, so I think your goals are completely doable. :)

That is my fear that if I start snacking then I will just keep snacking all the way through to dinner. Before the snacks were totally unhealthy (eg. potato chips, cookies, etc.) This week I did change the snacks to fruits, tortilla chips, salsa, trail mix,and low fat microwave popcorn. I was concerned that my kids would complain but they actually like the "new" snacks as they call them.

Weight Watchers Day 2

I must say today was definitely better than yesterday. I was able to spread out my points through out the day and didn't go over. I am excited as I see that I can do this. My next step is getting some exercise in too but one thing at a time. I want to get the food thing down. Although I'm not a fan of exercise I don't mind doing it. I just have to come up with a schedule where I can work, do school work, house work, help kids with homework, cook (breakfast, lunch, & dinner)oh yeah and sleep. I'm going to hang in there though.

Watch out for the tortilla chips (I really like Baked Tostitos, though) and the trail mix, both of which are really calorie-dense.

Oh, and my solution to too much to do and not enough time to do it is to not do housework. If someone else wants a clean toilet, they know where we keep the brush. ;)

Weight Watchers Day 3

I actually didn't have the tortilla and salsa today. Today was a good day. No slip ups. I stayed within my point range. Since snacking is my weakness I decided to give the kids the type of snack I can eat which was apple slices with 1 oz light cheddar cheese and they loved it! I was really happy. Bye bye chips.
