Cate's Diary

I saw this season's first snowflakes here this morning so I guess we're at the time of year where our weather's actually similar.

Pigface cuttings? I just had to look that up. Very pretty for such an interesting name. lol! :)

That's a good attitude you have toward your garden visitors! It's always interesting sharing land with others! :)
We see lots of wildlife up here & I feel lucky.
That conjures up some interesting visions, sounds like something from a horror film. Hopefully a pigface is some kind of plant?
Carpobrotus rossii It's very pretty & very hardy.

We are, LaMa. It is pretty cold today & there's snow on the mountains. I'm rugged up for golf.

Enjoy your spring, I miss ours.
They are pretty, Jen. I hope they take. I was enjoying Spring until it turned back into Winter!
I love the term ‘nana nap.’ Lol.
Me too, Em. I had that nana nap (probably only 10 mins) & then got out into the garden in the wild wind.

Good old pigface! I like it because it grows... ie doesn't turn up its toes on me - I'm not much of a gardener. Also, it's edible, not that I ever have, and I love how bright the flowers are in the full summer sun; they give the sun back as good as they get, practically. But I'm talking about the coastal kind, with triangular cross-section to the leaves - maybe it's a different kind you're planting?

What an interesting name . Pig face cuttings . I haven’t time to look it up but will later . Sounds like a nice fresh day to play golf Cate . I hope it was enjoyable

Hi, Jack, Amy & Petal. Snow doesn't settle here as we are only 310o above sea level, but sometimes you can see it floating about. We are having the weirdest weather at the moment. I had a nice day at golf yesterday, despite the weather. I was in lovely company. I felt very comfortable even with B1 & B2 yesterday. I think it's a combination of me deciding to get on with them but also they seem to be no longer antagonistic. B2 was being a bit weird about getting people's drinks yesterday, even though she does not know one from another so I asked her quietly if she did not want me going behind the bar, even to get my own drink & she seemed quite shocked. I am going to clarify any doubts I have as they arise & not dwell on anything any more.
I went out with G last night to pool as I know he really wanted me to & I had quite a pleasant night. G1's son was playing & we had a good talk, about his Mum & getting a dog & him coming up to build a yard. G1 has a Schnauzer. I'm doing lots of research on dog breeds. I think I'm leaning towards getting a puppy & taking it to puppy school.

Really, really good news on the golf front. Respect to you for setting the boundaries clearly, while showing kindness to those who haven't shown much of anything good to you, as well as keeping open for yourself the option of doing something you enjoy doing, i.e. playing golf locally. I'm very glad. :)
Snow stories: I would love to see it floating about! Magical. My friend in the Victorian Alps reported that at a community fire briefing this week they were told that rain and snow have damped the fires, but they weren't out - so that's pretty weird weather, too - fire and snow together. (These are smouldering-type fires, not raging-type fires. She's not in any danger.)

Thanks, Amy. Setting boundaries out there is very important to me, as is the friendship of the majority of the women. I would rather get along with B1 & B2, than not.
Highland fires are really weird. I'm glad your friend is safe.

Puppies take a lot of energy but they may be the cutest creatures in existence. Glad to hear you had fun with the golf women!

Thanks, LaMa. Puppies are demanding & a big responsibility but it really would do me good to fall in love with a puppy & enable it to become a well-behaved adult dog.
I am feeling quite settled with the women. I feel I'm starting all over again, but with support.

Puppies are adorable & good for our souls, Petal. I do feel like I have turned a corner with the golfing ladies, Petal. I think I have a stronger attitude.

I thought I had better re-read my December goals. I feel back on track, but it's easy to get derailed.
So, it's the 1st of December. Time to set some goals (again).
I have at long last synced my new phone to my Fitbit & MFP.
My goals for December are-
<1500 cals per day
>5,000 steps per day.
Golf at least once a week.
> 10 mins a day gardening (this can be my December meditation).
*Edit. If it's raining, I make up my steps with km on my exercise bike. Just did 5.15 km.
Weigh myself every Tuesday & Friday.
All of this is realistic & achievable.
Edit again-
Wear sunscreen every day,
Moisturise every night
I have done fairly well so far, but have not weighed myself. I maybe went over my cals a couple of days, but not by much, so I'm quite happy about how well I have gone so far. I struggle to be bothered logging my food :blush5 I'll try again, starting now. G & I have been getting a load of wood each day & that is very physical. Trees are down everywhere & they take a lot of work to tidy up. I have been aching a lot & could do with a massage.

Can you be kind to yourself, and get yourself one? Good for you, checking in on December goals - it definitely is easy to get derailed.
I'm really looking forward to hearing how the puppy-story develops - and to photos!

It is exciting, Em. No, I don't live near a pool, let alone one with a jacuzzi. It sounds really nice though! I have had another full on day with more wood gathering & gardening. I'm pleasantly knackered!

It's a matter of working out what breed. I'm inclined towards getting a puppy & taking it to puppy school. I have never done that. It has to be a hypoallergenic breed for me. I would love to get a pound dog but they all seem to be Staffy/Mastiff males. I'm getting a new yard built soon but won't get a dog until after a holiday in March. I also want a dog that I can lift into my laundry sinks to bath, but not a small yappy dog. Not much to ask? I'll probably go to a pound & fall in love with a dog!
Sounds like the approach we have taken to finding most of our dogs, do some research, choose a breed and age we think we want, and then just taking the first dog we see that we like, rarely having much to do with the research. It has worked out pretty well so far. Good luck with your dog search, I am sure you'll get the right one.
pleasantly knackered
Another of those Australian idioms, one I like.
