Cate's Diary

G got lots of calls yesterday, but one was from a guy who we had no idea was contemplating being captain, but who is prepared to do the job, with help from one of his friends. They are not particularly well liked, but they are prepared to do the job. G & I will be very careful not to be critical.
LJ- I actually just shuddered at the thought of all that bum crack!
I have the littlies here & the tv is blaring with hideous cartoons! We leave in about 2 hours time. Today will be tiring, but fun. They slept 10 hours last night!
It's a beautiful, sunny day. SPRING!!!

All your American friends will be groaning over the 'spring' comment. I'm OK, half way between the two, summer everyday :)

Dave

Spring is in the air... Right now I´m really enjoying fall, so all´s well. Plus I remember your stories of wildfire last year :( Have fun with the kids!

@Dave- most seem to be happy to be coming out of Summer :) or I would not be so openly happy about Spring!
We don't really have extreme seasons here thank goodness, but I do suffer from SAD, do the longer days & sunshine bring out the best in me.
@LaMa- had a lovely day thanks hon. Even got a haircut, as did 2 of the 3 GK's. They go back to school Monday & were in dire need of haircuts. You know they do when they tell you so. I wasn't just being a grandma :blush5: Expensive day though :)

:D I don´t think my grandma EVER took me to get a haircut. Or remarked on my hair. I did accompany her to get her perm a couple of times when she wasn´t very mobile anymore and didn´t see well enough to spend her time reading. So don´t worry about grandmothering :p

The youngest grandson has a nervous habit of twisting his hair around & never wants it cut, so when he said he needed a haircut, I didn't want the opportunity to go by. When our older GS said he needed a cut too & I was going to get one on Monday, or try to........well. Job done. I know their Dad will be grateful anyway.
I'm tired this morning, but the 3 GK's are still asleep :D They sleep well here. I'm driving them to meet their Dad, who snuck away from the 8-ball Nat's to spend the night with his GF. He's not playing again until this afternoon, so I told him he could sleep in & I'll drive them down to meet him. Tassie is doing well. He will be really tired as they had 4 matches yesterday. It's a gruelling schedule this year.
I had better scoot around the diaries before the GK's wake up xoxo

It´s so nice to read the diaries after you´ve swept through. Have a bit of a rest after dropping off the GKs!

Thanks LaMa. You're a sweetie. I have had a lovely, relaxing afternoon. Called in to a special chocolate "factory" with the kids on the way & took them to a lighthouse to check out the wild waves, where we met their Dad. It was a wild, windy & wet day, but was great to see the power of the storm with the kids.
I detoured on the way home & bought myself a really good Goretex raincoat( bright red) but didn't find a perfect backpack :D
Lovely day! xoxo

411 pages! Whoa! I've got some reading to do... But until then just passing by to say hi and ....spring? what a weird way to spell winter is coming... :D

Hi Lena :D Oh, wow. I would never expect you to get through all of my diary. It's almost 10 years worth! Our Spring is coming out of Winter Lena, just like yours. What we call Autumn, you call fall. I live in Australia so our seasons are the opposite to yours. As you are heading toward Winter, we are heading toward Summer. It's 8.15am Monday morning here & 5.15pm Sunday night where you are :D

Off to town again today. G is playing in the Masters Singles & D, our older son is playing in the team event at 12 & again at 6pm so we won't get home until late.

This is so embarrassing - I now have a documented attempt of making a joke, and failing at it! :) I studied geography, you know :) Well aware of the Northern and Southern hemisphere having different seasons.

This is actually the reference I had in mind when I said ''what a weird way to spell winter is coming''

By the way, I loved the way you explained it to me, your kids are lucky to have you! :)

I think I may be just as embarrassed! I did wonder about your education! :smilielol5: Australian humour & US humour seem to be really different. I really wasn't sure what to say! :blush5:

The youngest grandson has a nervous habit of twisting his hair around

One of my best friends used to do that when we were younger. His hair wasn't super long (shaggy, but not really long), but it was long enough for him to twist around. He would sit in school and twist his hair between his fingers and sometimes it would get so bad that his mom had to cut the knot out of his hair when he got home, HAHAHA.

It's actually European & Australian humour that are different this time :) I'm European.. Although I think it's just me not being good at making jokes... :D And I must admit you have handled it very well :)

Hi chef, Lena & the lovely, much missed Q. I am really tired tonight, after a very hectic few days & a poor night's sleep last night. I just read all of the diaries, but just don't have the energy to think of the right thing to say. I so need a good night's sleep!
Love to all, xoxo

He enters quietly:
He sprinkles sleepy dust all around:
He leaves Cate blessings of good quality rest.
He quietly leaves...poof

Australian humour & US humour seem to be really different.
They can be, but I've really been enjoying some movies out of Aussie (and NZ) - I just watched Wyrmwood, which is a satisfying mix of Mad Max and zombies, and The Houseguest is one of my favorite horror movies, hands down!

Hope your week's going well!
