Casey's Lifestyle Change Journal

Well, after gaining an amazing fiftyish pounds, it is time for a change. I've always been 'chubby'. Not a bad chubby. Cute chubby. Then things changed for the worse when my fiance moved in. Hello fast food and soda! Goodbye wonderful hour-glass shape! Well, now I've become terrified of going out in public, which was never me. I know people watch me eat going, "Wow, look. Another fat chick eating McDonalds."

I've tried numerous times to 'diet' until it hit me: Diets don't work! Lifestyle changes do. So, here it is. I've cut out the calorie filled soda. Right there saves me over one thousand calories a day! I was shocked at how much soda I drank. It's horrible. I have started buying bottled water, which I am amazingly addicted to now. Fast food? Nah. I'd rather have a salad or slimfast shake. But hey, when we do go out to eat, I eat slower, more deliberately, and now I get full faster.

So, this, along with workouts, I am determined to lose over eighty pounds. Go me! So far, I've lost almost four lbs in a little over a week. Any comments, advice, or support is well appriciated. I will try to post here daily.

Hey Casey!"

Welcome, what a fab start to your diary! You seem to be doing the right things I think switching your drinks is the hard one. I'm having to go cold turkey at the moment. 4lbs is a great start - what workouts are you doing?

Currently, I'm just walking my dog... I decided to take it easy to start with, I'm a smoker plus i'm very out of shape lol. I was just getting ready to check out the "Free exercise on demand" on my tv to see what they offer :p

Thank you for your support!

Update: If you have comcast, entire exercise programs are free on demand! Just go to on demand, Fitness, then Exercise TV. Awesome dance party workouts with karaoke!! :) /cheers

Oh, and by the way... anyone is free to friend me, whether it be because you need support (We all do!) or because you wish to support me, it will be greatly helpful. If you're new to this journey, as am I, we can support each other. :hurray:

Just woke up and stepped on the scale... Ten pounds down! I don't know how I've lost that much in such a short period of time, I hear the first couple weeks the fat just seems to melt off... I'm not being unhealthy, I'm not starving myself I promise. I'm just not pigging out on taco bell every night or drinking six sodas a day. Wow. I feel great!

Planning a sensible breakfast, and then i'm going to break out the old richard simmons tape. (IF i can find the VCR!) Wooooo. /happy dance

****Update****
I found the VCR, and I am moving the TV that I never use from my room to the basement that we also never use. It will be my personal work out place, working out "one on one" with richard simmons five days a week. (Sweatin' to the Oldies 2) and walking my dog on the other two days.

Just got done doing my first workout and I feel great! Endorphines are wonderful, huh? Well, at the end of the tape, all the people that danced with richard simmons get to come up and it tells you how much weight they've lost with his program... and this one guy... lost 704 lbs!! Omg, if he can do THAT i surely can lose another seventy, right??

Wow. My uncle says that when I get to the weight I want to be at, he'll take me to the mall and buy me an entire new wardrobe. More incentive!!! /dances

Wow Go Casey, you seem to have it down. I know what you mean about the smoking, it makes everything ten times harder. I'm a stupid social smoker and I can tell the difference after I've had a cig so much.

Richard simmons makes me laugh so much. his things aren't available that much in the UK but I adore his energy. Are you enjoying working out to him?

Yeah I really enjoy working out to him, I used to use his tapes when I was around ten years old with my grandmother lol. It's really odd. My grandmother was a very fit lady, she died at the ripe age of 79. And now I'm using HER VCR and HER richard simmons tape. Good ol' grandma's helping me lose weight. I adore the songs that he works out to, and it really got a sweat going. I'm not as sore as I thought I would be, I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I have a wedding to go to today with a buffet... oh boy. I'll be fine.

Richard Simmons is a low-impact aerobics workout, so I figure it's good to start with.

I had the WORST dream last night! I had a dream that I was thin. And very happy. But I got this job as a waitress or something, and the boss made me wear a schoolgirl outfit with a cat collar and bell... and god it was just a really weird dream. No more World of Warcraft before bed.

And yeah I'm really excited about a whole new wardrobe. Even if I don't reach my goal for a long time, I'll remember that promise and I'll hold it to him lol. A full day shopping spree at the mall? Hells yea! and to buy new clothes that actually look good!

1:43PM: Instead of making multiple posts, i'm just going to update one post per day as I go unless I'm responding to someone's reply.

I just got back from a walk... and it was horrible. My dad came with me, and he is disabled, so he was stopping every five steps. I love him. I do. And I know the walk was good for him, but I wanted a brisk walk, and it just wasn't happening. For gods sake, the DOG was pulling. My dog never pulls. On the bright side, daddy picked up the dogs poo, so at least I didn't have to do that. I have to get new headphones for my mp3 player. My cats have eaten mine. :rolls eyes: Oh, I have plenty of animals. I have even taught one of my cats to walk on a leash and play fetch. I have seven cats. A dog. Two turtles, two parakeets, and a rat named Harvey after Weird Al's song "Harvey the Wonder Hamster." (Yeah. A rat is not a hamster. Close enough.)

Congrats on losing 10 lbs! I just wanted to say hi and it looks like you have a great journal going here!

Good work!! My dog Keeps me going. As she needs a daily walk (like all dogs) I lost 10 lbs with out really doing anything else but taking her for at least a 30 minute walk every day.. Its exciting!

I hope you reach your goal as soon as possible!

Thank you, babymomma. I am trying. One more incentive for me to lose weight... my mother in law hates me. And I hate her. So at least I can be confident enough to hate her publicly. lol. Yeah, my dog is old and out of shape, so we're getting in shape together!

Wow. Today I slept from 3AM until 4:30PM. I don't know what happened... The exercise? Did it wear me out THAT much? Now I feel like crap becaue I slept the day away.

I think I'm losing weight way too fast. I know it's healthy to lose about two lbs in a week, but in two weeks, I've lost almost 12. That doesn't seem right. I'm not starving myself. I am never hungry. You know what it is? Probably the no-soda thing. Since I was getting over a thousand calories a DAY from soda, and now I'm not and my body's like, woah. I did have a soda at the wedding I went to yesterday. but that's one soda in two weeks. Wow. I don't know what's going on with my body now lol.

My hubby's decided to lose weight with me. I'm pretty excited.

I'm going to start posting what I eat here from now on to insure I'm getting the right amount of calories.

EDIT*** I'm not doing the "slim fast diet" thing. No. I just NEVER eat breakfast, but I've learned how important it is to have calories first thing when you wake up to jump start your metabolism, so I'm opting for the slimfast shakes. (Which in all honesty just taste like flavored milk to me.)

Breakfast: One strawberry slimfast, 170 calories.
Lunch: Lean Cuisine Sesame Chicken, 330 calories. (It was delicious too!)
Dinner: Cinnamon Applesauce, 50 calories.

How can I get more!? This isn't healthy! I added another slimfast for dinner, purely for the calories. So that adds another 170 calories... But this just isn't healthy.

Ever since I quit eating fast food, it seems like I'm not getting enough calories... but I always eat until I'm full...

I got a workout progam called TaeBo T3. I just did the first "Introduction" and I'm telling you, I have never sweat so much in my entire life, and it was only about 25 minutes long! Wow I feel great!!

For some reason, my yahoo status on here is constantly on "Not online right now" which isn't true. unless it's really early in the morning, i'm on. So feel free to instant message me if you want to chat about anything.

My timezone is mountain time, so if it's afternoon for you and you live in the UK or something... chances are it's early in the morning for me lol.

Monday, May 25 2009 5:00 AM: Well, I went to lay down at about Ten PM... Didn't fall asleep until about midnight. Then, around Two AM I woke up to use the bathroom then going back to sleep was impossible. ><;;

I'm hardly sore at all. Is that even possible? I worked out so hard yesterday. I grew up believing that no pain equals no gain. so maybe I didn't work out enough? I dunno.

Tuesday, May 26 2009 12:45 AM: Well. I guess I was wrong about being sore. Man do I hurt! My "abs" hurt. My back hurts. (The muscle). Even my arms hurt!

According to my work out schedule, yesterday, which is still today for me because I slept all day again, was my "rest day". Which, as it happens, was also my cheat day. (Mondays already suck so I made them my cheat day lol.) So I spent the whole day eating hotdogs and watching "The Biggest Loser." Fun fun fun. It's amazing to see all thier weight loss, even though you KNOW it's unrealistic and unhealthy. Plus, it's fun to say, "If they vote so and so off, I'm going to be pissed." Man that Jillian Michaels is a bitch. But a funny bitch, you know?

**Update**
Just finished the seventh season of Biggest Loser. Totally bummed that Tara didn't win. Wasn't too much into that helen girl.... She was way too whiney. "I'm not READY to go. Please keep me here." Whine whine whine, beg beg beg.

Instead of having my "ticker" track TOTAL weight lost, I'm breaking it down into mini-goals. My goal over all is in the 140 area, but for now 200 will be nice.

Good luck! Happy excersizing! lol

Thank you. Yeah, someone here sent me that link so I figured I might as well pass it on.

Oh, and exercising is ALWAYS happy. Endorphines are great things. Embrace them. :p

Well, my hubby is totally pissed because our router isn't working, so he can't play WoW. :rolls eyes:

I'm going to work out to billy blanks today. I'm still not fully recovered from the first workout (still pretty sore) but that's what the exercise calendar that came with it says to do so... here I go.
