Casey's Diary, Part Deux!

So I DID get up 6am Saturday morning and run, making last week a 12.5 mile week. Eating has been pretty off-the-wall this weekend...pizza on Saturday and Taco Bell yesterday with a McFlurry last night. I am still trying to keep my calories at a decent level. Yes, my weekend eating was awful, but it's still better than it used to be. I'm hoping for another great week.

I went home Saturday and Mom and Dad both said it looked like I had lost weight! They told me seperately, so I don't think they were just trying to make me feel good.

Way to go on all your running. I went pretty hardcore with it too last week, but then skimped out on it over my 3 day weekend... I'm planning on going tonite though and getting in a really good run. I did 15.5 miles last week and this week I for sure want to hit 20.

My food and beer was a little bit off the charts this weekend. Too many parties, etc... I feel better though knowing I am doing something to counteract it with all the hard work at the gym.

Hey all! haven't been on here much this week, the first week of classes kicked my butt!

Eating was a little off this week....Clint got ice cream at the grocery store and I had 2 bowls of ice cream. I did run four out of five weekdays this week, and if I run Saturday it will make yet another 12.5 mile week! Woo hoo! I ran on the treadmill yesterday and I'm a little sore from that, but I did better than I thought I would.

I'm not sure how much weight I've lost, but I'm pretty sure I have. I can feel it and see it. It feels good not to be a slave to the scale or measuring tape. I feel alert, and healthy.

My legs are killing me....it feels like shin splints. thank God I have some new sneakers coming in the mail! I think the treadmill may have something to do with it as well....I think I will just stick to lower-impact cardio machines from now on. I'm going to do some yoga later and see if I can't get these aches and pains stretched out.

Everyone have a great Labor day weekend!

Eating isn't perfect, but I'm doing much better than I used to. Exercise is great...did an hour of yoga yesterday and it was such a great workout! I want to run this evening when the weather cools down.

Hey Casey,

Congrats on all that running. I'm trying to get it in as much as possible lately too... I'm always overeating and drinking some on the weekends though, so I hope to get that under control... At least I'm maintaining I tell myself, and all the running definitely isn't hurting me ;)

My friend Ashlee K came up from Nashville to play a couple gigs here and see her friends and family. I actually know her from highschool way back in the day. She moved to Nashville a couple of years ago to pursue a recording contract, etc... She is so determined and good at what she does and will never give up. She says Nashville will either spit you out or make you better... I have noticed you are in TN, and I don't know how close you are to Nashville but if you are ever there you should look for her, she plays at many places there :)

I'm pretty far away from Nashville right now, but my hometown is only 45 minutes away from there. I will have to check her out!

Eating was decent this weekend, except for a Long John Silver's visit. It wasn't even worth it...their food is so greasy and tasteless, and it took forever, and my boyfriend didn't get any French fries! (I gave him mine, lol) No workout yesterday or Monday but I did an hour of power yoga Saturday morning. I can definitely tell I did something my body isn't used to...I'm sore in a good way!

Finally got a few new things off eBay....new hair straightener (mine's shot), new running shoes (pink and white asics), and a few new tops. I also got a GRE study book, but that doesn't count, lol. I just don't think I will enjoy it as much.

Ewwwwww the GREs!!! :p Hate em!

Do you have dirt trails to run on? I swear by them to prevent shin splints, and YES, treadmills gave me them as well! Glad you're losing weight!!!

HUGS

Hey Casey,

That's cool about your ebay purchases. I'm still in the process of getting some jeans listed up on there... lol, I guess it's just at the end of my to do list. I don't really stretch a lot before my runs but I make sure I do a lot after. I hate it when my legs are sore... I haven't ran in a few days and I need to get my miles in this week.

-Sam

I have a history with shin splints, I've also had stress fractures multiple times. Just a tip that may help, if you arent already doing it....I stretch before and after my workouts and I also do at least a 10min warm-up and cool down...like on the bike, eliptical or treadmill. The other thing that has helped is getting a great pair of shoes and insoles from New Balance. When you go to the store you tell them about your feet, legs, walking/running habits and they fit you. I bought a pair of shoes for work and a running pair and havent had shin pains in months!

Good Luck.

Thanks! I just got new sneakers in the mail yesterday and I can't wait to try them out. I ran 3 miles on the treadmill yesterday and my legs feel great today, so I guess it was just a one-time thing. I did take a few extra minutes to stretch and a 5-minute warmup and cooldown...I think that helps a lot.

Oh man...just sitting at my new job and bored. Don't really have any schoolwork to do....I have reading to do for a project but I will have an hour and a half this afternoon to take care of that. It feels good to be caught up...I usually feel 5 steps behind.

My pants are getting that goofy cinched look around my waist...you know, when the waistband gets all wavy because you're trying to use a belt to make them fit....this week is the first time I've really noticed it. Yay for me! I still have more weight I'd like to shed, not really a specific goal or anything though.

Off to class!

Thanks CG! Not sure what to do tonight....I REALLY wanna try out my new running shoes but I would love to do some power yoga to get all stretched out. I am so incredibly chill when I'm done with yoga...it's a natural high, a feeling like no other.

I'd be itching to try out my new running shoes too... I'm seriously considering trying out some yoga, and see if it helps me out... I had a DVD a long time ago but, now I'm thinking of finding some different poses online or going and getting a book or something. I definitely think I'd be someone who would benefit from yoga, especially because I enjoy my stretching so much. Great job on the 3 mile treadmill run. I gotta do that myself tonite.

-Sam

I think running and yoga are a great combo. I used to NOT think so, but I changed my mind. I have been vowing to do yoga every morning as a way to chill myself out. I agree, a feeling like no other--and it's great for your thyroid, regulating hormones (including appetite control) and such. It'll probably help us both lose weight--yoga people tend to be hella skinny I noticed ;)

That's true CG! I never thought yoga would help me lose weight but it really gets my attitude in check...and I work up a good sweat!

Going for another treadmill run around 5pm....I didn't get around to exercising last night (except with my boyfriend in the bedroom, but I really worked my inner thigh muscles! TMI right?) but I ate pretty healthily yesterday. I'm looking and feeling great!
