My goal is to lose 20lbs by July 31st. I am starting on July 7th. It is a very optimistic goal. Wish me luck!

Hi Carrie, welcome to the forum :grouphug:

Firstly- well done on deciding to lose weight

Secondly- 20lbs, in three weeks? COWABUNGA!!!!! You would have to have a 3600 calorie deficit every day to do lose that, which means basically eating nothing, and exercising off over 1200 calories. Which will completely screw your metabolism and leave you miserable. All the artictles about it that we read and ignore about crash diets wrecking your system are true y'know!

Have you got a holiday or something coming up? You could lose 12lbs in that time fairly healthily, depending on your weight. Obviously the heavier you are the quicker the weight will come off. How much do you weigh? x

Hey Carrie and welcome!

How about setting a target and BEATING it! Rather than setting your sights really high and getting disappointed! Either way, starting is the hardest bit so well done and hope to see you posting how you are getting on over the next few weeks.

Thanks for your replies! I know the goal I've set for myself is rather high, and I'm not planning on starving myself or exercising myself to death. I'm truly not expecting miracles. I've set this goal mostly as a sort of kick-start. I need something to push me out of this cycle of terrible eating and sloth that I've been in. A serious goal requires serious work and a lifestyle change, which takes more than three weeks. To tell you the truth, I'd probably be very happy to lose 12 pounds in three weeks...but I can always push for just a little bit more...

Thank you both for the warm welcome! I'll let you know how it goes.

Don't get too discouraged if you can't manage your goal, it's a really big amount to loose in a short amount of time.

Any loss is positive progress, keep that in mind!

Hi Carrie,

Always great to see another come on board and set their minds to losing weight. I've been diary-ing for a little over a week but it definitely helps!

As the others have said, your goal is a little ambitious but hey! whatever works for you!
