Cardio before or after?

I currently do my cardio before lifting cause its the only way i can work the time schedule with my lifting partner. I do my cardio 5-6 days a week and lift 3 days a week so there its not possible to just switch to off-days.

Just wondering why it is preferred to do cardio after lifting?

I was told its best to do it before for some wierd reason that I forgot. I usually do 10 minutes before and then 10-20 minutes when im finished

Personally, I would never be able to get the WO I do now if I performed cardio before it.

I'd go with after or perform cardio on either off days or at a different time of day.

Energy, no sense in depleting it.

Your body also responds differently to anaerobic and aerobic exercise, you can't get a runner's high from pulling a double on deadlifts, but you also can't a real leg workout from running as you would from some intense squats

cardio after - always

do weights first you burn up a lot of muscle glycogen, get a good workout and then go do cardio which almost forces the body to use fat for energy since you used up the glycogen

but the inverse isn't the same

do cardio first, burn up muscle glycogen first, then you go do weights ,and have no energy to lift, so its sub-par. AND you're in a catabolic state by this point, and just making it worse.

The reason why, is what AJP is alluding to. Weight lifting is anaerobic, and that means fat cannot be burned to fuel the activity. stored fat burns too slowly for that. Cardio is aerobic, and fat can be tapped into for energy because you don't need explosive force.
