cant start working out

any of you guys got a good way to get motivated to workout? i have whey protein powder and a weight bench, free weights, and a second bar bell that came with the new bench...i always think about working out one day, but once i get home i go to the unhealthy food before the bench, and i just dont feel motivated enough to workout, also i have feelings that it wont matter wat i do one day because the next day ill give up on my diet and start eating tons of food again, any help?

Heh you're in the same boat as me except for cardio :/. sucks huh you dont wanna do it pretty much cuz you dont see results fast enough. Lifting is soooooooooooo much fun though! I dont know why you wouldnt just hop on that bench and just dick around at least, u know just like do as many reps as u can at a certain weight or do something! You dont have to be all about it in the begining, the more i read the more i wanted to lift. Keep reading up on this stuff and maybe you'll want to lift. Maybe in a months time you'll be like ok I know how to use this and i know diff types of lifts maybe then find ur max and get into it. Once you start seeing changes and feel what its like to have power that you've never had b4 its amazing!

To be motivated enough, you've got to have a goal that you really care about. If you don't set specific goals, or don't really care about them, you'll never be motivated. Once you start hitting some of your goals, the motivation will take care of itself. People who say they care about their health but aren't doing something about it are lying to themselves. They DON'T care, not really. The evidence of what's in your mind is what you do, not what you say. Mental toughness is what will set aside winners and losers. If you don't have a lot of mental toughness, you've got to work on it by forcing yourself to work out when you don't want to. Mind over matter. You should be in control of your body, not the other way around. So set some goals, and grow some balls. Then go out and do the things that you have to do to achieve those goals. Once you get the ball rolling, the momentum will build. As you form new habits, it will get easier. You'll hit plateaus, but you have to push through. Good luck.

Here's what worked for me... JUST DO IT. Once I started back up, and forced myself to hit the gym, I got all my motivation back. Obviously after 3 or so weeks. Mostly keeping in shape keeps me motivated; I still have lots of weight to loose, plenty of musle to get, and most importantly, I CANNOT stop... Working out has to become a part of life!

Heres my advice, stop acting like a poon, walk your happy as$ over to your bench and do it. Stop buying the junk food, and start eating the healthy food. You cant start if you keep doubting yourself like you are. There is no way for us to motivate you, we are not at your house lifting with you. Think about the money you wasted on that equipment if you dont use it.

Workin out is a lifestyle. The Majority of people who have home exercise equipment use it to hang laundry after 12 months. You may need to join a gym, pack a bag and head there right after work every day. Once you start workin out, look in the mirror. Go ahead and flex them bicepts. Strut that chest. I know it sounds cheesey, but when you start seein results, it's exciting. Also, allow yourself to imagine what you'll look like in a year. It's powerful motivation. And get some likeminded friends. Recruit a workout buddy if you have to to come over and work out with you. I recently went back after 4 years off. My wife and in-laws also work out as well as my 2 best friends. It's nice to see people you know in the gym. Helps a lot.

What's the big deal? Just do it. When I wake up, I do a video. No ifs, ands, or buts. After dinner, bike. Or walking. Every day!

Skip a day, sure - visit your parents, go to a wedding, whatever.

But don't take off DAYS at a time! "Consistency is the key to results"

Yah seriously... I took 2 weeks off, it was such a pain to get back into the gym. Now I'm back in the gym, 5 days a week, and loving it.
