Cant move, how to stay in shape

Hello Everyone!

So, I am getting married this September and I'm workout out whenever I can. I love it (well I love it when Im done for the day) because I remember what it was like to be overweight. Anyway, my fiance recently had surgery on her lower back/butt (yeah yeah haha butt) to remove a cyst and the stitches will take another month to heal (its been a month)

She is worried about her fitness since she can not move. Is there anything you can recommend for a female to stay in shape when she cant walk quickly or for long distances. I suggested some light weights but she is always saying, that will just work her arms and not her waist. I dont think this is true but does anyone have some suggestions.:confused4:

if she can't use her lower body, then a lot of things are out. She can't do anything at all with her lower body? like squats? (I'm guessing she can't)

I can't really think of anything right now. One of those arm cycles maybe? Just something to get the heart pumping.

Working out your arms burns fat in all parts of your body rember so yes if she used light weights she would work the muscles in her arms but the body gets its energy to contract the muscles from the entire body.
What exactly can she not do? Is it more just not being able to use her legs period? The best thing to do would be cardio, but I can't think of any cardio work outs that do not use legs.
I would recomend using the light wieghts, it would be easier to perscribe a work out if I knew exactly what she can't do
Good luck and congrajulatoins!

If she was reasonably fit before the surgery then she shouldn't worry too much about not working out while the wound heals. Her overall fitness will stay relatively intact and once she's cleared to workout again she should be able to get back into things w/o a problem.

I understand that she's probably restless from lack of activity but letting the body heal is more important. No need tearing it open and risking infection and a longer healing process and even more down time in regards to exercise.

If she's worried about not fitting into her wedding dress, well there will still be 7 long months from when she can start working out to when the wedding is.

A month shouldn't make too much of a difference to her fitness levels or shape. I think the most important part is to keep diet in check and try to avoid the temptation to eat more while being inactive.
