Cannon's Journal

Well now my next decision is my next mini-goal. I was so thrilled my boss noticed my weight loss. She's the first person whose word I could really pay attention to who did. I still need more fruits and veggies in my diet--my water intake is almost perfect. I think I need to concentrate on the little goals so I don't get all wrapped up in the huge goals. Let's face it, sitting here thinking "only 229.4 pounds to go" is pretty daunting. I think my next goal is going to be my birthday (November 30th). I would like to get down under 400 by then. Its a tough task, because it'll be happenning at the same time school is and I haven't hit a plateau yet, but its a great time for buying clothes and I would probably really need them with that much weight loss. I also like the idea of beginning the new year on the right side of the 400s.

You can do it, Cannon!!! Congratulations on reaching your goal. Nice your boss is noticing. I have a Christmas goal myself that I haven't really shared with anyone. I am 40% there and I started in June so I am ahead of schedule. I really wanted to make it a reasonable goal so I could see the goal post if you know what I mean? I know you do. My goal weight is 150lbs and I probably haven't weighed 150lbs since 6th grade. I feels like it would take a miracle right now, but 220 by Christmas....I think I can do that.

I hope you are having a great weekend.

I love your Christmas goal....I think we can picture them so much better when we attach some kind of holiday to them. And I'm not talking about that mad rush to lose twenty pounds before a certain event like so many of us have gotten caught up in the past. I just mean being able to picture ourselves in an improved state for a particular holiday. I've been doing that for several years....just saying to myself "each Christmas, I'm going to be a little bit better". And it totally works!!!!

Hope you're weeking is going swell.

yay yay yay well done on reaching your summer goal canon, no doubt you'll do great in your Christmas goal as well just mind stay well away from the Christmas cake and mince pies heh.:D

Thanks for popping by all :). We're actually one of the few houses in America that actually used to have mince pie at Christmas. My dad loved the stuff. It really helps keep me motivated to post when my diary has visitors and I think posting helps keep me motivated to lose weight. Today I'm doing clothing triage. I have to decide what to keep, what to give away, and what to buy. Not a fun job, but a necessary one.

Cannon
congradulations on your goal
i read the first page of the thread about the scales glad you have a lot of humor i just love a person with humor
we are all rooting for you to reach your next goal good luck on your new year new cloths GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every now and then I'm reminded why we do the Friday Scale Day. I get compulsively weighing and I'm inevitably disapointed. I'm up about 3 pounds since I dropped to 434.4. I'm not quite sure why as I've had 2 fairly good days eating wise. Tomorrow I'll start getting back in the walking swing of things and try and lay off the weighing til Friday.

Hi Cannon,
I just read in Prevention magazine of a study that compared people who weighed daily vs. once a week weigh'ers. They found that people who weighed daily tended to lose a lot more and kept their weight off in higher proportions to people who weighed in weekly.

I'll have to pull the article to check the study and see how the cross sampling stood.

That being said, it is definitely a personal decision and if the ups and downs are bothering someone, then it must be better to not get on the scales as often. I know my weight fluctuates from morning to night by almost 3 pounds and my after exercise/walking weight is a GREAT incentive to eat well throughout the day ;) But I keep in my head that there will be a daily fluctuation (that's why I only log once a week) and I'm ok with those little ups & downs since in the end, it's a downward direction in the long run.

And we're all here for the long run :D

Glad to hear you're going back to walking! I never took my measurements when I was at my highest weight, however, I know where I was the last time I measured, and while I've only dropped a couple inches off my chest and waist, I've dropped *5* inches from my hips & butt - that walking bit is AMAZING!

And CONGRATS! You broke the 30 mark!!

Well today was one of those calories left behind instead of calories taken in days. I went to two movies today because I wanted to enjoy the last week of summer. I had a small popcorn at the first movie and then got basically a pizza bread for the second one. I know this wasn't healthy, but I used to always get the large popcorn and eat it even when I didn't want anymore. I ate light and healthy the rest of the day. If I went up a little I'll live with it, but starting tomorrow I'm back on the straight and narrow.

Cannon
you did good with the pop corn just think how much calories you left behind not the mention the fat from the butter
keep up the good Job very proud of you !!!!!

Ok, I'm back on the straight and narrow and proud of it :). I needed a fun day yesterday and I got it. I'm not about to give up now. I hate where I'm at though--I'm between pants sizes. That means nothing is going to fit me right until I lose just a bit more weight. I did a clothing triage and threw out half a bag of old stuff and found another bag and a half to donate. Now I'm going to do a lot of laundry today. I am hoping to not half to buy any new clothes until I'm a little smaller and solidly in a size.

GOOD Morning!!!!!! Well, at laest you have a Great Motavition to get to a solid size.I'm cheering for you!!!!! Have a GREAT Day and drink that WATER:D

maybe the 3 pounds is salt? Or just random body fluctuations?

and I can TOTALLY relate about clothes and sizing. I'm in the middle of 2 sizes right now too. Either it's a lil too tight or a lil too small. Argh. Irritating isn't it?

did I hear right? trying on clothes isn't fun? LOL!!!! Oh, wait...that's just me.
I understand about being in an in between size. But you'll get there. And what a wonderful thing to be able to donate your old clothes.

Have a great one!!!!

I think it is random bodily functions. Yesterday I had to pee and pee and pee. Today I'm low again. Since reading what M2M said I'm going to go back to weighing myself daily. Today I'm eating very healthy and eating a lot of small meals to try and keep that metabolism going. I do hate trying on new clothes (Its a guy thing), but I do love dropping sizes. I'm so closed to the next size, but I need to buy work clothes now. I'm trying to buy as little as possible.

Hey Cannon,
Good to see you keep up the determination eventhough you had a scare with the scale showing more... I am sure it was just a fluke and by the sound of it, you've found the wagon again:)
Its good that eat more times, but smaller through out the day, than those usual 3 times. I keeps you stomach full, and happy and makes it easier to restrict yourself from cravings...
Well, keep up the good work, and I hope shopping for clothes isn't a totally nightmare...

Today I go back to the chiropractor. After going through clothing triage, I think I can hold off on doing the clothing shopping until I'm a little skinnier and can fit more comfortably into a smaller size. I'm off the chiropractor. He's been helping me a lot.

Joe

Cannon- experts say that losing 10% of your body weight when overweight will help nearly every aspect of obesity related illness...ie diabete, heart disease. Youre almost there man!
