Cannon's Journal

Again with the warm fizzy drinks. England isn't as primitive as some may image. We have fridges now, and we even use a student fridge to boot (student fridge - leaving chilled foods outside windows, like drinks :D)

That waitress sounded a tad unpleasent. Warm ice though, gotta laugh :p

Cannon, my friend, how are ya today?

You're really giving us other teams a run for our money with the whole creative banner aren't you? Man, you're good!

Thanks for all the support--I base my warm soda experience on many places all around England and Scotland almost 20 years ago. It is quite possible things have changed and warm soda is a thing of the past with my Don Johnson Miami Vice jacket.

I'm actually proud of myself for yesterday. It was a rough day. I was constantly hungry, but I stayed at 1700. Today has been easy. I got wrapped up in some stuff and forgot to be hungry. Its almost dinner time and I have about 800-1000 calories to play with. The reason I stopped counting calories though is because when I did, I'd be finding the most decadent 1000 calorie item I could. I'm going to have a normal dinner and if I only have another 750 calories I'm just going to save those 250 for those in the future when temptation wins. I'm going to go get my hair cut now. I figure every few ounces has to count for something.

Heehee, yep, every little ounce does! If not, a new haircut can be the start of the new you that's coming with the weight loss. Stay cool, dude (unlike British fizzy drinks :p)

Keeping busy helps to keep your mind off food, it's the best way to diet. If you've got nothing to do, take up a craft or hobby or something. I started more origami when I first started losing weight, but also keep animating. It means you have something enjoyable to do as well :)

Have a brilliant day!

Sadly, my hairly didn't recede it retreated so other than neatness a new hair cut really doesn't change my appearance like it used to :(. Hobbies, I've got way too many of, but yeah getting too busy to eat is a definite key. Because it is Friday scale day I weighed in this morning and my first 20 pounds are gone. I don't think I can make my summer goal, but I think I can lose a lot more before I go back to school and still more after that.

warm juice in Scotland? Usually we have trouble getting anything warm, I had my electric blanket on last night. It's the middle of July for crying out loud! Anyway canon I hope you're getting ready for a weekend of fun!:D

Cannon, don't worry that you won't have met your summer goal. You've done absolutely amazingly, and I'll bet you can feel and see a big difference. Great big congratulary *hugs*

You could always change your hair apperance by dying it. How about bright purple? I'll bet that'll work! I don't like seeing sad faces, so keep smiling, it's only hair :)

Well done again for the 20lb loss!

Cannon sounds like your doing great. If you miss your goal a little hey no worries mate. we have a lot more to lose than most of the others and it just may take a little longer thats all. What I have been doing is treat myself to something good out to eat. It seems to keep me from missing any of the food out there. I know it probably cost me a pound a week but it just helps keep me on the road. last week was chinese this week i may go out for a nice italian dinner. This is what I do to let myself know im doing a good job. So if you dont meet your summer goal just pretend your in texas; Afterall, we still have 4 moths of summer. good luck and keep it up.........

20 pounds is awesome!!!!! So proud of you!!!!

What date are you using as the end of summer? Labor Day? The autumnal equinox?

I totally think you should go with hillbillylee's idea. In Texas everything is bigger even the summers!!!!

I'm not despondent that I won't meet my summer goal. I just have to decided what the new goal is. It was extremely ambitious, but I don't see 66 pounds happenning. I'm either going to keep that goal and make it by Halloween or I'll keep that end of summer and make it a smaller number. I am tickled with my progress so far :).

By the way, I took my mom, step-dad, sister and brother-in-law out to lunch today. We went to Baker's Square which is a place known for their pie. Their lunches tend to be on the fattening side too. I had a grilled chicken with honey mustard, cheese and onion on focacia. I passed on the fries. I had a half slice of blueberry pie for desert and got it alamode. Then I left most of the ice cream. I did good! I probably left there between 800-900 calories.

Hey Mr. C,

Just checking in. Glad you got through a hard day and kept yourself in check. Your weigh in today was extra special. I think you could do 66 by the end of summer. All depends on what you call te end of summer. Your doing great so far. Thanks for all your encouragement in my diary and on our challenge thread. Have a great weekend.

You know what they say about balding men .... lots of testosterone!!! ;)

My mother says of my father... who's been bald for as long as i can remember -- grass doesn't grow on a busy street... so if the hair is thinning, that means the brain is working :)

High praise for getting out of Baker's Square for under 900 calories! That is serious control!

:)

Bakers square? I really have to get out and travel more. I love the foodie places... does it show? Its always going to be hard when your around places like that. I have the family here so it cuts out alot of that outside temptations. I can send them out to places I don't want to go, well except going to school with a bunch of carbohaulics. I think your doing great. no worries........

Yeah, I had Baker's Square at lunch and dinner was pizza with friends. I stopped at 5 squares and half a serving of Doritos and 3 of us got a veggie. Not a great day, but could have been horrible. I even refrained from beer for diet coke. Staying under 1800 calories for a day with the kind of temptation isn't bad. I feel that I can keep that kind of willpower going for my trip, though sometimes I may choose not to be as strict. I guess the key here is choice. I don't want to blow 4 weeks of progress, but if enjoying my trip means an extra 2 weeks of diet so be it. I'm trying to change a lifestyle and not diet anyway.
