Cannon's Journal

Well, I just got back from my trip and I have dropped 7 pounds in 2 weeks. I didn't always eat the best thing on my trip, but I was never out of control, I always considered nutrition as well as taste in the decision making process and I got a lot of walking in. I know I didn't eat as many times a day as I could, but I really didn't splurge too much. The only two real unhealthy things I ate were a one scoop sundae, and a some carmel popcorn. Both of those were still improvements over my usual choices and I didn't feel deprived. My walking program will commence on Wednesday. Tomorrow I will try and do well with the diet at a 4th of July party, but I'm definitely not intimidated by it. I think I'm treating myself tonight with Chicken Chow Mein again--the right portion this time.

Well I went to a 4th of July BBQ and I did all the right things--I drank only water and I didn't go starving, but I did overindulge on sweets. They did a great job on deserts this year. All in all my calorie count for the day wasn't bad. I don't think I'll gain anything so I'll just look at it as a day that I'll have to work hard to pay for this week. I plan to get up early and start walking again. I need to get groceries tomorrow too.

yay for drinking water and not starving... good for you :) no reason why you should deprive yourself... and well - tomorrow is another day... good for you for getting out and walking- hopefully it'll be nice andcool...

I went to my chiropractor today. He's also licensed in acupuncture and acupressure and he worked on my ear in a few places. I also mentioned I was interested in buying green tea and so he sold me some as well as some Stevia tea which is supposed to help with sugar cravings and some herbal bars which taste like a cookie for a moment before tasting like cardboard. I am doing well with the diet, but was too tired to walk today. I need to start tomorrow. Once you start its easier to keep going then it is to start from scratch. I also want to start checking other people's diaries again. I leech motivation from them.

All right Cannon - I'm gonna let you get off easy today since you're probably still recovering from your vacation... but if I check back in tomorrow and see that you still haven't gone for a walk- I'm going to have to give you a good swift kick in the rear! :) (Congrats on the 7 lbs!)

Wow, Val's tough... :) i l ike that in a person...

remember where your health is concerned.. never put off to tomorrow what you can do today... there's always gonna be a reason to not do something (and beleive me I am the queen of excuses - i can rationalilze anything) sometimes ya just gotta force yourself... and you'll feel better after it's done... ;)

enjoy the green tea -that stuff is good...

That is one handy chiropractor! Haha, I know what you mean about starting from scratch with exercise..it's hard! So hard. Then you get into a routine...and then take a break.and it's hard to go back to it. But you can do it, yesss you can. We ALL know it, too. :)

congrats on the 7 lb loss, that's great!!! exercising was the hardest part for me too, it's true though once you start you feel soo much better.

Hope you have a fabulous walk today!!! And green tea....mmmm yummy and loaded with antioxidants!!

You've already lost more than 10% of your summer goal!! Congratulations!!

The board really came through for me today.

I slept in a bit and didn't get up until about 7:45. I get up at 6:40 so I complete my walk before 7:00. I normally would have cancelled. I remembered the combination of butt kicking and encouragement from the board and I didn't want to post that I again failed to walk so it got me out there. You know, it isn't like I really hate these walks either, but I will say the combination of my slightly lower weight and the walking I did before plus the walking I did on my trip made it a lot easier. I kicked my walk from 6 blocks to 7 (something I was planning anyway) and it was still easier than my first week at 6 blocks. I still have the goal of 2 miles by the end of summer and with my surging willpower, your support, and even an occassional butt kicking I'm sure I'll do it. Thanks again. I'm joining the Friday scale club and can't wait until tomorrow to see how I'm doing.

That is great work, Cannon, and it is fab to have you aboard the FSD!! I will see you there tomorrow morning .... I'm quite excited (and a little nervous ;) )

hey sounds like your doing great. The working out seems like the hardest part. It always was for me, just the getting out and doing it was the worst. It gets easier when it becomes one of those have to things. after awhile you will almost feel guilty for not doing it..........keep it up.....lee

Great stuff on the walking! It is hard to get started, but the thing to do with starting something like exercise and weight loss, both of which I find very scary to start, is to do it as soon as you think of it. Right there, this second (unless it's 3:40 AM)

Did you listen to music when you walk? Music puts you into step and you follow the beat of the music. More enjoyable, somehow less tiring and usually ups the speed. Charge your iPod dude, and swear by it. Name it, cherish it and love it.

It's great that you've joined the FSD! So you'll be in there tomorrow as well. Good luck, guy, hope the scales are kind. If not, I'll give you the same advice I've offered other; hit the scales with the hammer until they say what you want. If you screw them up enough, they might end up saying 23.8 lbs, so just watch for that :D

Keep it up!

Oh I definitely have my Ipod going as I walk. I burned about 25 good workout songs and rotate them as I go walking. It does help a lot.
