Can Someone Help Me With my Goal?

Hi and welcome to the site. It is a great place for motivation but you essentially have to do all the work. First thing is make sure you read the sticky threads. Something i like to tell people is, if you dont know what it takes to lose weight how do you know what to do. Then figure a plan that will work for you and you can stick to long term. This isnt something you finish and it's over. You want to develope good habits that will last a lifetime.

As far as goals go, pick something smaller than the full 24 lbs you are trying to lose. Shoot for 5 lbs and see how things are going. The main focus should be to stay motivated.

Good luck.

like usedtobefatmatt said, try 5 lbs first. When you have reached your goal, you get motivated, you want to continue and you set a goal to get rid of another 5 lbs, etc.

You can still have 24 lbs as a long-term goal.

Your 5'7 and currently 124 lbs? To be honest with you I don't think you should lose any weight :) 100lbs wouldn't be a very healthy weight for you in my opinion.

Why not just tone up your body instead of just losing weight? Just because you are losing weight, does not mean your stomach is going to go completly away...toning would help it more, and though you my not drop down to the weight you want, you would have the flat stomach

I know, but for my body type, it seems like a better fit.

My stomach isn't my problem, it's already pretty flat. i just need work on my thighs and legs in general.

Thank you for all the help!

That seems like a very low weight for someone 5 7. I bet if you check 124 for someone 5'7" is considered normal weight. You might want to ask someone a little more qualified but i but it would be close to a maintain amount of calories with a full body workout mixed in, but im no expert.

hey! I am also currently around 120 lbs and looking to get down to 100 lbs (but I'm a good 6 inches shorter than you). I have been at that weight almost my whole life, its where my body is comfortable, and only recently have gained 20 lbs in the past 5 months due to stress.
My plan as of right now is to just eat less, hard for me because im prone to snacking...even when im not hungry. i started a bet with someone in my family to see who couldnt eat chocolate the longest as a little competitive inscentive to keep me going.
and i also started swimming 6 days a week.

my two pieces of advice are:
1 turn it into something fun, like i did with the bet. it keeps you going when youve got someone else holds you accountable and joins in. plus it makes it seem more like a game than a task
2. let it come with time. at first when i started gaining weight i would say stuff like ill drop 5 lbs in a week and itll be gone, but now i know that the only way a healthy life style change can happen is if you give it time

since we are both currently looking towards the same goal weight, if you ever have any questions or anything im here!
i do have one question for you. About how many calories are you trying to eat a day? right now i dont have any set plan, i just try not to snack between meals, but i still think my calorie count is pretty high.

I know I'd feel more comfortable at my goal weight.

Yeah, I think that since we are working toward the same goal, we can share some advice. It's just going to be different because I am a lot taller than you. I don't really count calories, so what do you think I should do?

I think you should start reading the stickied threads around the forum-- start in nutritio - ,move on to On topic then exercise -and after reading -follow up in those threads on things you don't understand...

All the info you need is right at your fingertips

hey i was wondering if you wanted to be my diet buddy =) since we have the same goals and everything. and i cant stick to a diet until i have someone else to hold me accountable...what do you say?

hey theres something wrong with my pm-ing so ive gotta write back here.
hows it going for you?
i dont know what exactly im doing wrong because i have been eating really healthily for the couple of weeks with only one junk day and i excercise two hours 6 times a week but im actually GAINING weight. i cant figure this out.
havent heard anything about the wii fit, but the wii itself is really fun! and any excuse to get moving is a good one..
