can my shoulders get alot bigger?

hi, this is my first time writing on this and i wanna ask:

im 16 yr old male n i have really small shoulders...and if i did shoulder exercises would they make it change that much of just a little cause it really annoys me, i'm also really skinny even though i eat loads and was wondering if anyone could think of an exercise 2 make my back bigger with just dumbells cause thats all i have.

thanks peeps :p

Yes shoulder exercises will make your shoulders look larger. Deadlifts for your back.

yeah you can do it but i don't advice to people who are under at least 18. Because although you can do whatever an adult do physically, you are still in a raising period. If you want to power up your shoulders and other muscles: I advice you to do two things: 1-Swimming at olympic pool 2-Playing Basketball. I'm not kidding. I'm serious because i don't know what your height is but you can still grow up your height, so if you start doing fitness actions now, it could be harmful for you right now. But with swimming and basketball, your muscles will work in a native way and also you will be ready to do fitness after 2 years.. I advice you to wait to do fitness until 2 years later and in that period i highly recommend you to swim and play basketball. Especially SWIMMING.

Swarthy, lifting weights will not stunt your growth. If you doubt, check around on google or pubmed or any other journal and see if you can find anything.

Basically if you want to play it safe.. if you haven't hit your growth spurt DONT lift near your 1RM, always stay over 6 reps.

thanx

thanks people im 5'11 n my dad wasnt tall so i guess i wont grow anymore prob anyway! so i think ill use weights but i wont overdo it, im too lazy to anyway

ok :).. so this is your choice.. But i still recommend you to SWIM any way ;).. You can see the benefits of it later ;)

ive learned that at 16 your muscles are done and you can start working out propperly. at my gym, its not allowed to do heavy lifting unless ur above 16

thats for 2 reasons.
1, we dont want 15yr old kids running round the gyms acting like prats.
2, kids do muck about, you may get sensible ones, but a group of 15 yr old prob wont be that sensible, so when they start mucking about they may drop a 200lb barbell on someone.
(i am genralizing, all those young weight lifters out there who are sensible, I'm not talking about you, just those other guys that give you a bad name.)

know exactly what u mean, theres 3 'kids' about 16-17 that use the free weights area at my gym, they aint serious about training, the see it as a competition to see who can lift the heaviest weights, really loud aswel, shame when there are other people who are serious waiting to use the equipment, but i suppose it is a public gym theres bollox all i can do about it
