can i get some help?

hey everyone im new to the site im a 17 year old male and i weigh 163 pounds. I just decided to get into shape and i started eating healthier and excercising about 2 weeks ago and i lost 7 pounds (i started at 170) i see a little difference in my chest i guess because the fat went down a little bit. My main goal is to lose my gut and my "man boobs" (lol) my goal weight is around 140-145 somewhere in that area. i have 25.5% body fat so im definetly trying to get that down to about 22% or something along those lines. I was wondering if my diet and work out so far will help me.. so far it seems to work seeing as though i lost 7 pounds but i wanna know if it will definetly work off some of this body fat

i dont go to a gym because of my age and i dont really want to go to one honestly so all i really do is i swim everyday for about 30-40 minutes and i do about 40-50 laps give or take. The pool i swim in isnt that big because its just a regular pool at my aunts house it isnt a real small pool but it isnt no olympic size either lol and about every other night i run in my back yard for about 20-25 minutes and i do 300 push ups a day with my feet elevated on a chair or my bed because i was told that will help me lose the man boobs and thats what i wanna lose the MOST and i do about 600 sit ups a day also

my diet varies everyday but i usually eat the same stuff like for breakfest i eat a apple and a plum or sometimes a apple and a mini bagel but today i had a apple and a hard boiled egg then around 2 hours later i eat a nutri-grain bar then a hour later i eat my lunch which is usually a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or a smoothie then 2 hours later for snack i usually drink a smoothie if i didnt have the smoothie for lunch or a lil bit of honey bunches of oates cereal or sometimes some pretzels (no salt and 0g trans fat) and then another 2-3 hours later i have some type of fruit again then about a hour or 2 later my mom makes dinner now this meal i cannot control what i eat because my mom makes it and i have to eat it but she knows im on a diet so she usually makes like some steak and rice with vegetables or a pork chop with vegetables and rice but we're hispanic so sometimes she makes rice and beans with it also. I eat around 6-7 meals a day

i drink nothin but water through out the day also not.. i usually drink about 8 cups a day

sorry for the long post, any help will be appreciated... thanks

OK, right off the bat, cut out the 600 situps a day. Its unnecessary and will not get you closer to your goals.

You are going to have a hard time getting leaner without trying to put on some muscle in the gym (or at home with minimal equipment). You are already light at 163 and cutting lower will get harder and harder if you don't have some muscle forcing metabolic demand. And no, doing 300 pushups is not causing your body to want to grow muscle, the load is not enough. I can't force you into resistance training, but I can tell you that you are making a hard road for yourself if you don't reconsider.

Your diet sounds way off, follow these tips:

maverick thanks for the help i will check out the link you posted... oh and sorry i forgot to include my height... im 5'7

do i really need to lift weights and stuff to lose the weight? im not really interested in getting bulky or anything my main focus is really just to lose the weight will the cardio be enough or what?

Weight lifting is about more than getting bulky, and if everyone who touched a weight got big, then there wouldn't be special programs, discussions, diets, and products designed to help you get big. It's really not that easy.

Strength training can help to preserve muscle while losing weight, and increased lean tissue can also help to increase your metabolism (by a small amount). So, yes, in a nutshell, it's generally "best" to do some of both.

No, 3890 pushups will not get rid of manboobs either. Doing exercises that help your pectoral muscles grow can help some, but they will not reduce fat off that specific part of your body.

thanks for the help. my uncle owns one of those total gym machines those things chuck norris advertises do you think thats good for weight training? it isnt any weights on the machine or anything so i guess its basically like your lifting your own weight
