Can I do it? Why do I lack the motivation?

Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum I am 42 years old married with kids. I work long hours and have completely lost my fittness.
Untill I was 30 I was very fit. I averaged 200 lbs at 5'8" with less than 10% body fat. For a long time I had a 33" waist.
Now I am 230 lbs with body fat around 22% with a 40" waste.
I used to power lift and do alot of aerobic training (cycling, stair machines and rowing).
I feel that my health is starting to decline. Every night when I go to bed I tell myself, in the morning I will get up and get on my stationary bike for 30 minutes, do as many push ups and sit ups I can.
Morning comes, I eat break fast play with the kids and go to my 15 hour job. (I own my own business) I am basicaly a slave to my customers.
I know at my age it would be much harder for me to get back in the shape I used to be in.
What happened to my motivation? I mean I am very good at self motivating myself and all my employees when it comes to work and making money but I can't seem to have any motivation to workout.
Recently I found out that I have acid reflux and I am dealing with it best I can, I am allergic to all the medications available.
I have many aches and pains in the mornings, I feel stiff as a board sometimes.
I know if I start to workout I can feel healthy again, I know it because I remember when I was fit how I used to feel, how well I slept, now I rarely ever get a good night sleep. I can be in bed for 10 hours (I average 6 normaly) and still feel like hell in the morning.
Any good advise would be appreciated.

i dont have any kids or anything, but maybe try to incorperate exercise with playing with the kids,IE, do pushs ups with them on your back(if safe), see who can bike the longest etc. Also try stretching before you go to bed, i heard this helps with energy and stiffness in the morning. If you cant do this, maybe do push-ups on your lunch break if you have one. If you really start to be concerned go to you doctor and try to see if you can hire someone so you dont have to work such long hours(not sure what line of work you do, so it may or may not be possible).

I think you have answered your own question.

Why do you lack motivation - Because your too damn tired is there anyway that you can cut back your work hours?

The biggest motivation for you I think is your children ask yourself if you want to be a rolemodel to them and for them to witness determination in the people that they look up to then that sets them up for success in life.

Good luck :)

Yes, its obvious your problem is the 15 hour work time you are doing, try to cut down your work hours and exercise before going to work, you will feel great all day long

good luck :)

Your motivation should be your children. I don't know how old they are, but it sounds like they have a long ways to go. You need to be in good shape for them in the coming events.

Stop working such long hours. Sure money is important, but sometimes you got to think about yourself, and how you're going to look like 10 years from now. You're now at the age where it's going to determine the rest of your life, no matter how short or long.

Good luck.

i agree. you have to live your life, my friend. 15 hours a day at your job is far too much especially if it is negitavely affecting you. spend more time with your family. love them and take nothing for granted.

but you have to fix up your diet first. eat smaller more frequent, healthy meals with protein in every meal. eat up on your veggies. whole grain breads/startches. eggs are great. watch your calories. dont eat over your maintinance if you want to lose weight.

stress might be why you feel bad

HELL YEA! YOU CAN DO IT! BEEYOH!

Thanks all

I appreciate all the great advice. I have not been on here in a long time and I am glad so many responded.
I found out 2 months ago that I am Celiac I had to change my entire diet. Within 2 weeks of changing my diet I lost 12 lbs and my energy went through the roof.
I bought an indoor bicycle because it gets real cold here in the winter. I am up to 40 minutes every morning.
I am not losing weight per say but I have a lot of energy. I did cut back on my hours and now I am at 60 hours a week. Any less than that and my business will suffer.
Several of you noticed that my main motivation is my kids. I am working on getting as fit as possible so I can be there for them. My wife is due with our 3rd child in July and I don't want to be in a wheel chair when he is graduating from high school.
It is still hard in the mornings to get on the bike and do the 40 minutes. I have to motivate myself and it don't come easy. I wonder if that will change eventualy.
Being on the Gluten free diet makes me hungry all day long. I am eating between 5 to 6 times a day.
Has anyone here tried bowflex? We have no Gym to go to around here and I want to add resistance training to my daily routine. Would bowflex do the trick for me?

another thing to consider is to buy some free weights also and incorporate that into your regiment?

or possibly take the family out for a walk after dinner. it keeps you going and you get to spend time w/ your family?

while i cant' imagine spending 15hours working, that has to be exhausing, try and make some time for yourself to workout(maybe 1 1/2 lunch. run for 30 min or some cardio and then eat?)

best of luck, you'll do great :D
