Camila's Comeback!

So it is just about 6AM here. I posted an update in my team thread but I will share it here too!

I got up at 5AM...and forced myself to get out of bed. I think it helped that I had my workout clothes already laid out. I headed out, determined to get some exercise in. I ended up doing a half hour and was so pleased with myself because I managed to incorporate some jogging! Woohoo. As I suspected, I was only able to do two minute intervals, but I included a bunch throughout my 30 minutes.

It was pitch dark outside and pretty chilly. This makes me only look forward to warmer temps more and more. It felt great to jog again, but I think I irritated my cough a bit, so that's why I limited myself to 30 min. I will complete my other 30 min this evening after work.

I am really excited though because I have wanted to get back to jogging. I know that I will have to push myself a bit to get my endurance up. Working out in the morning seems to help out with that, plus I love the freedom of running around the neighborhood when more people are not up yet!

Anyways, that is all for now. I'll be back later :)

Happy Tuesday!

Food

Breakfast
2 pieces of Ezekiel toast
Juice: kale, broccoli, celery, apple, lemon, ginger

Lunch
Chicken noodles soup :blush5: I need it to make me feel better!

Dinner
3 Quinoa patties - made with quinoa, egg, some cheese, some breadcrumbs, mushrooms, onions, chive, and garlic...hope they turn out good to use as a lunch tomorrow. I calculated that each one is no more than 107 calories woohoo!

Water
All done with my 3L of water today!

I'll update this throughout the day :)

Woohoo being up early gives me so much time before work, I love it!

YOU GIRLIE ARE SIMPLY FAN-TAS-TIC! So proud of you!!! You have determination and iron will! Kudos to you!

Your food is looking fab too.

How are you feeling? You better?

hugs x

Congrats on the jogging! I'd eventually like to start, but it gets to my knees at the moment.

Justina - Thank you!! Your words are so motivating to me! I am feeling mostly better, save for this nasty cough that just won't go away and sinus issues. I've never gotten a sinus infection before...but I am pretty sure this is it. Just trying to eat tons of veggies and liquids. Ginger seems to help.

Thank you, Cory. I used to run everyday...but after I stopped it was really difficult to get back into. I've tried a few times and failed, usually because I try to go too hard, too far at first. If you do ever decide to start jogging, my advice is start slow and work your way up!

It's only Tuesday?? :( I am going to have my first quinoa experience tonight...haha, no idea what to expect. I mostly chose the recipe I am using because I had all of the ingredients laying around...and I get to use my new chopper!! So excited for that.

Drinking all of my water today felt like a huge chore. I always get ahead of myself and try to pound it back. Tomorrow will be interesting as I have meetings allll day and no time for bathroom breaks whenever I want, hah! I may have to save most of my water drinking for the evening!

Hope you all had wonderful days!

~Camila~

What are you making with quinoa? curious..I m trying to get better acquainted with it ...I only have one- two recipes so far that I love.

I am actually making some quinoa patties. The recipe calls for them to be fried but I am going to bake them. Hopefully (as reviewers have stated) they will work as a lunch for tomorrow!

I will PM you the recipe I am using! I cannot speak for it since I haven't made it yet, but the reviews are pretty great.

Those quinoa patties sound great! I don't eat quinoa at this point, but in time I'll let it back in. Enjoy!
At some point, the water drinking chore just becomes a habit. Do it all day, everyday, and in time you don't think twice about it. Keep it up, Camila!

Don - Yeah it feels like a lot of water when I try to drink it all at once, haha! I think if I try to space it out more it won't be as daunting!

Justine - Thank you! I hope when you make them you enjoy them!

So, to both of you (or anyone else that is interested) these patties are SO good!!! This is my first experience with quinoa and I can definitely see making these just to have on hand for lunches or a snack. Wow. I feel like I have my first really successful "cooking" attempt here.

And oh man, I got to use the new chopper like nobody's business!

Edit: According to my calculations...at the "high" end (I added some calories as a buffer) each of my patties is no more than 107 calories...and likely less! That is awesome. I had three and I am super full!

:)

Yes, definitely Cory!

This morning was not so great. I woke up at 5 but was having serious sinus issues so I didn't get out and jog. However, I have plenty of time to exercise this evening so that should be okay.

Food

Breakfast:
2 pieces of Ezekiel toast
Juice (kale, broccoli, lemon, apple, ginger)

Lunch:
A few quinoa patties

Dinner:
Salmon with some couscous, perhaps.

Happy Wednesday!

Hope you feel better son Camila! You might be surprised that exercise can actually open you up!! You are only 3 pounds from losing 10 pounds...keep up the good work!
Sarah

Sarah - Thank you so much! That 10 pounds mark is what is keeping me going. It feels like I will never ever hit it, but I am seriously determined to get there! Exercise feels great while I am doing it, but it really irritates this cough I have afterwards. I have to find a sensitive balance for now. I really thought I'd be all better by now!

Don - Thank you! My day was actually pretty good! Oh and the quinoa patties were amazing! I took some for lunch today...I can see myself making a weekly batch of these. They are so convenient and delicious...and can be tailored to whatever I fancy!

Justine - You are too sweet! I am about to try the apple cider vinegar! Apparently people "swear" by it! I just hate going to work being the 'sick' one! So I really hope this helps. I have tried steam...helps temporarily relieve the symptoms. Apple cider vinegar, here I come!

Today was pretty decent. I was in an out of meetings all day but managed to get all of my water in! In my earlier posting, I said that I would be making salmon for dinner tonight...well I've changed my mind and am now trying a spaghetti squash recipe! Ha. I told my boyfriend I was making that and he thanked God he would be working this evening :reddevil:

I'll let you know how all that goes! I may also try to make a "healthy" chocolate chip cookie recipe. We will see how that goes!

Edit: The cookies turned out absolutely fabulous. I calculated all the ingredients out...each cookie is about 75 calories. Not great, not horrible. But when compared to the 160 calories in a McDonald's chocolate chip cookie, or the 220 in a Subway chocolate chip cookie...not bad! A lot of the calories can be cut down by using a white flour substitute...but I did not have anything on hand. Wow do they taste absolutely divine...Perhaps the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever made. Using coconut oil really gave these a unique, yummy taste!

My hour of exercise will be right before bed. Not ideal for me, but it is what has to be today.

Hope you have all had great Wednesdays!!

Edit: Tomorrow is my *ONE MONTH* anniversary here....and I'd just like to take a moment to say how much I love this place and how dear you all have become to me! There are such wonderful people here. And losing 7 pounds over the month isn't too bad. But I'd like to see it even higher next month!

Edit: In case anyone is wondering...the spaghetti squash is quite delicious!!!! I think it is better than real spaghetti...wow! The best part is...it was sooo easy to make. I actually just used some chive, butter, salt, and pepper...and it tastes really savory. Yum!!!

Edit Edit: Apparently, I did not do my research enough to know that spaghetti squash is its own kind of squash...I used butternut and was a bit perplexed as it looked nothing like spaghetti. Nonetheless...still delicious!

Just completed an hour long cardio class! Did not stop moving the entire time. I honestly almost gave up on exercising today, but I am so happy that I pushed through not feeling well and did it anyways! Of course my team for the challenge was on my mind the entire time!

I have also been noticing the past few days that my body has been *feeling* different. I don't know how to explain it. Like when I put my hands on my hips, there seems to be more definition than there was before. Or noticing that my stomach feels a bit flatter. I don't know. Hopefully this reflects on the scale this week...but if it doesn't I am still pleased that I am noticing these changes.

Sorry for babbling on here!

~Camila~

That's awesome Camilla! I know what you mean about your body feeling differently. Last night I noticed that when I move my arms I actually have some muscle in there working. I've never noticed it before. It's pretty exciting to see all these changes that come along with weight loss isn't it? :)

I know exactly what you mean about "feeling differently"... it may not show to everyone else, but I can feel some things changing. Great job on the cardio workout, Camila!
