Hey guys!
It is great to be here, finally! I am a recent college graduate (yahoo!) who has come the the realization that my health needs to be a top priority for me right now! I've gained about 30 pounds since starting college and want to stop the cycle before I get any worse. It all starts with being honest with myself, so here I go!
Downfalls of my health:
Insomnia: I've suffered from insomnia for as long as I can remember. It used to be so bad that I'd take partial sedatives that were prescribed. I hated the way they made me feel though so now I take Benadryl every night. I've read up on it and it supposedly isn't dangerous, but I can't kick the feeling that long-term use isn't doing me any good. So I am stopping. Starting...tonight. Usually I take it around this time and sit around doing nothing for a few hours until it kicks in. I'm sure you can see the health implications of that...Who knows how it will go...
Stress:Who isn't stressed? I'm not sure, but I am determined to find a more relaxed approach to life.
Diet: Well this is just obvious. I tend not eat anything all day, then overeat when I get home. We also eat out too often.
Positive steps:
-Found a workout program that I enjoy & can stick to.
-Realized how unhealthy my diet is...
I used to be a very, very healthy person. So I am trying to go back to my routine back then...greek yogurt, lean protein, flaxseed, fruits, veggies....and water! I never drink water anymore...it is awful
-Come and join you all here!
I'm really happy to be here. I hope to achieve my goals by tracking what I eat each day along with my workouts. To be honest I have no idea what I weigh right now. I think I am about 165. I would like to get down to 120, so about 45 pounds. As for a goal date, I do not have one. But as long as I stay consistent and really try I will be happy with myself.
I get really down on myself about how far I've fallen off the wagon. Some days I actually need to look up inspirational quotes to get out of bed. So my plan is to reward myself. When I get down to 140 I am going to give myself a mini makeover! Redo my hair, buy a fancy outfit and then get right back on track.
Thanks for listening to my rambling
I really look forward to getting to meet you all!
