calorie requirements?

Hi everyone! I'm new to this but here goes...
I'm wondering about how many calories I need per day - I'm ALWAYS hungry, but try to limit myself to about 1300 / day while working out for an hour - an hour and a half about 4-5 days a week. I usually do 45 minutes of cardio (mostly elliptical but some TM also) and the rest weight training and stretching. I have a pretty good diet, possibly too many whole grains but I'm not a fan of meat and I'm lactose intolerant. Any suggestions about caloric requirements and good, filling foods for someone who is lactose intolerant?
Thanks in advance!

There are a lot of factors that determine your calorie level. Everyone is very unique. I weigh 118 pounds and eat 2400 calories a day, but other women my size eat much, much less. When I diet plans I have to put a lot of work in to figuring out what the right calorie level is for someone.
That being said, it's not good for you to be hungry all the time. Listen to your body. If you're hungry all the time and aren't eating, you're probably hurting your metabolism.

You can head over here to get your daily caloric requirements:

That is a calculator and it gives a ROUGH estimate of what your caloric needs are per day to maintain your current weight. Take about 350-500 calories off that total to lose a pound or so of fat per week.

Glad you are eating a pretty good diet and working out. As Sarahfitchic mentioned you definitely shouldn't feel hungry. You want to be satisfied at all times. There are tons of foods you can eat that are not red meats or contain milk.

How lactose intolernat are you? :) Can you eat cheese and be okay? Or does that put you over the edge too? I am a vegetarian so there are tons of ways to get your protein without red meat. Even chicken and turkey will do :)
